There are 3 (that I know of). One in the console compartment between front seats, one by passenger's feet (RH drive model), and the engine fuses under the bonnet.

I have a 88 jag xjs v12 and the gas tank is a 21 gallon.

Inside the wheel well there is a small cover plate with 2 plastic screws which must be turned a quarter turn. The plate then comes out. Pull the plug off the back of the bulb. There is then a plastic collar which must be turned counter clockwise. To install, do the same in reverse.

Radio should just pull out but the retaining clips are very strong and sometimes will not release, if this is the case then do as follows. Remove the leather cover around the gearstick ( it pulls off) and you will see two seven mil nuts and two bolts retaining a cover holding the wood surround in place, remove them and lift the cover which will then allow you to lift and remove the wood surround. there is a screw either side of the radio surround which when undone will allow you to remove said radio( the gearshift must be in drive to allow clearence). all in all it takes about ten minutes.

Replace battery cable.

Find the unit which is on the A post either left or right, and it's covered by a plastic housing usually black. (The A post is the vertical box section which has the door hinges on). If and when the fuel shut-off sensor (really it's an inertia switch) is tripped, a little black button pops up from the top, and you just push it back down again.

The inertia switch has tripped. It is in the Passenger side (UK) just under the glove box on the side. Remove the cover and reset by pushing down the button.

1-Disconect Battery for a few minutes

2- Reconnect Battery

3- Turn key to on position

4- Let computer check your engine

5- Start your engine

The reservoir is on top of the left wheel well. But note it takes a special oil, not power steering fluid.

The pump and reservoir are GM made. The black cap is located under the drivers side upper rad hose. It has a level indicator built into the cap. Just remove and add. A small skinny funnel is need to deliver oil as it is a tight fit.

I'm not aware of anywhere you can buy them new or anyone who has a free electronic copy. I acquired a manual for my '89 XJ-S for £10 on e-bay. There's usually a couple of manuals for sale.

You didn't say if your car was a coupe, convertible or cabriolet, but since all of the XJ-S's thru the '80 were basically the same, condition is the most important element in this question. $1500 to $6,500 for coupes. Convertibles bring a few bucks more. The cabriolet being the most unusual will bring the most money. With real estate, it's location, location, location and with these cars, it's condition, condition, condition.
