the speaker assemblies in the rear are kind of strange, there is a 6.5" mounted in a box with a tweeter of some sort inside the box. the 6.5" is easy enough to replace with any off the rack speaker, you have to take out the entire interior panel though and it's a bit of a hassle until you'e done it a few times. the door speakers are also 6.5", but the space is much tighter, so the speaker you use may need to be rather slim. then there are tweeters up on the dash and also in the corners inside the side mirrors, not sure what size they are. I just recently had my whole system rewired, with new tweeters on the dash, and a new pioneer stereo w/ ipod jack, about 300 bucks total for all the work and the stereo head unit, though it could be higher depending where you live and what kind of shop you go to.

Have you checked the hydraulic fluid level? Usually this problem is related to a low fluid level. Take off the cover on the right side of the trunk. Above the CD changer you'll see the hydraulic pump. You can easily see the fluid level right on the side of the pump. If it's low, fill it up with Pentosin fluid, which you can get at most auto parts stores.

This is within a couple of tenths of a gallon; I don't have it in front of me at the moment. It is 17.6 gallons "onthe gauge" and 19.4 counting 1.8 gallons "reserve" that doesn't show on the gauge (after the gauge hits empty).

You'll find that the key goes into a keyhole hidden in the Chrome "XK8" badge on the rear panel. Between the k and the 8 if I recall.

the purge valve on the gas line is rusted inside. It is located inside the left front wheel well behind the cover. Easy to replace. check youtube for video.

There is NO dipstick for the transmission. I've been trying to find out how to check the fluid level due to a small leak. So far, I've heard the oil has to be at a certain temp, but no one will say what that is; It has to go in one of two Allen headed plugs, probably the higher one on the tail end of tranny since oil poured out of the lower one on the side. Then I've heard you have to have a computer hooked up to determine the correct fluid level while everything is at the correct temp. When I tried to put some of the $62 a liter fluid in the plug on the tail end, it ran out as fast as I put it in, indicating that there may be a check valve which would make me you might have to put fluid in under pressure and that the fluid level may actually be above the plug! I'm still trying to find out answers to my questions, but the answer to your question is there is NO dipstick!

im not sure what u mean , if u refer to the valet button, u can find it on the right hand side of the steering wheel next to the release fuel cap button.

remove front wheels, inner guards and bumper. Then remove air box's, loosen metal bumper support get right air duct out, remove all bolts and fit two longer ones in so it does not drop down. You can now get to condenser pipes and mounting bolts

The CD changer is in the trunk on the right side.

vacuum leak/intake leak,dirty/clogged injectors/dirty/faulty mass air sensor.

on the face of the transmition console is a small pin hole you have to insert a very small pointed object and while pushing on it moved the shifth level

There is a Cherry submicroswitch attached the the trunk latch. This switch controls the light and the instrument indicator. It also activates the alarm.

I assume it starts up maybe a little rough but mostly normal, unless you have other problems that caused it to not start up for a week.

It's on the left side of the engine compartment behind the left headlight and in front of the black fuse box. It's hard to miss. It had a bunch of brake lines going into it.

Yes a Parrot CK3100, it works in my 96 XK8 (97 MY if you are American)

If it lowers an inch or two every time you open the door you need to re-program it. Sit inside, close door, raise window and hold down button till you hear a click (about 3-4 seconds), then lower the window all the way and hold... another 3-4 seconds. Raise it back up, and test the door again. It should work normally. If the battery is disconnected for long periods, the programming is lost and needs re-training. If keeps happening check battery.

with the ignition on put down each window in turn and keep your finger pressed down until you hear a click approx 2 or 3 seconds then put the window to full up and repeat ie hold finger on button until you hear it click you need to do this on both windows
