Kia Spectra

I'm just a backyard mechanic with no service manual, but figure any workable answer is better than no answer. I just replaced the rear pads on my 2004.5 to find the caliper would not clear the new pads, and the pistons would not retract with a "C" clamp. Removing the emergency brake cable from the rear brake cylinder didn't help. The caliper pistons are threaded and can be turned clockwise to loosen, or CCW to tighten. Look at the four notches on the piston. (after you have removed the wheel and caliper) I did not find another adjuster, and didn't look very hard as everything worked out great once I backed out the pistons for a little clearance. You go to your car and open the door and find your owners manual. Then you read the index till you get to headlights. Finally you fix them.

the starter is mounted on the back of the motor under the intake manifold bolted to the tranmission bellhousing

I don't think it has one.Or if it does it's in the fuel tank.

The middle wire is the sensor wire. It should be a 0-5+ volts

You may be able to enter the trunk through the back seat and open the trunk from inside.

While the above is relevant on some models of Kia's , it was not on mine(2006 Kia Spectra). My rear seats only folded down via the trunk. This is what i did.

I needed to remove the seat cushion that is between the door jam and the Back seat rest. After which you can reach behind the seat and pull the release cable to fold down the rear back seat rest.

Before you can remove the seat cushion between the door jam and the back seat rest, you must remove the butt seat rest. Than there is only 1 screw on the bottom of the door jam seat cushion. After said screw is removed slide the cushion up as it is latched on and it should detach easily.

Ok do you hear any type of noises when you push the switch? If you hear like a humming or grinding your window might be off track. If you hear no noise dont assume its the switch look at your fuses in your car. Then if no fuses are burned out it would be the switch. The same thing happend to my 97 tauras and it ran about 250

Remove the plastic cover that is mounted over top of engine. [4 screws] The PCV is on the left side rear, mounted horizontally [when you are facing engine] Very easy to remove.

I'm not sure if by now you have the problem solved but I have a few small suggestions. The first simple thing you need to check is the button; press to make it go into overdrive. If the button does not work and I assume it doesn't and you have already checked it as this is a no brainer right? I have one stuck in overdrive by the way, and so you will next need to check the fuses inside the car, check the fuses under the hood too (you will need to put a tester on them to make sure they are putting off power to the fuse) and then if not luck, take to a mechanic to seek into it further. I'm still waiting on my mechanic to get me in. Most do not need overdrive in the city and use it on slick roads for a slower speed only. No need to worry at this point unless the conditions are as described above. Sorry I couldn't help more.

You can get one at any auto part stores such as auto zone or kragen. I just bought a manual book for my 02 kia spectra at auto zone for 21.99.

There is a switch where the brake handle is that activates the light, check it out it may be broken, or stuck, or just need adjustment. Low brake fluid in the master cylinder will cause it as well, and is more often the problem. If you find yourself adding fluid more than once every few months, get your brake system checked for leaks.

open hood, there should be a sticker listing freon type and other things and in there should also state the spark plug gap

If the monitor has the location of the tire that is sending the low signal, you check the tire pressure on that tire. If it does not have a location light, you check them all. If they are all ok according to the pressure that is listed on the inside door frame sticker or the sidewall, then you should take the car to a shop that has a diagnostic reader that can talk to the tire sensors and see if one of them is bad or the battery on one of them is going dead. This is not free to have done by the way.
