How is breast milk normally produced?

I breast fed all three of my children. I was more thirsty and drank more water. They say that's helpful. If you are having trouble producing I have heard that a beer a day, or a glass of wine helps. I didn't do this personally, but heard it helps. They say you make what they need. If they eat more you will produce more. (You will notice your breasts hurt and swell during this time) when they start with more solids you will begin to produce less, again the breast swell some because they are being cut back on. They pretty much self maintain. Good luck.

Can you breast feed after pulling a wisdom tooth?

Probably not. I mean the procedure is safe but they give you some pretty heavy pain killers after that may harm your little bundle of joy! Id wait till you can wean the little one or stock up on breast milk before hand.

Is it safe to have amphetamines when breastfeeding?

It should be glaringly obvious that taking it at any time is unsafe.

In addition, taking illegal drugs while breast feeding constitutes child abuse, and you could very easily lose your child to child protective services if you continue.

When a woman is breast feeding is it good for the husband to suck the breast too?

Since breast milk is produced on a supply and demand process, the more milk your husband takes out, the more milk the breasts will produce.

With your husband suckling, your milk supply will increase. What will also increase is the love and bonding between husband and wife. After the baby is born, it is common for the husband to feel a loss of connection with his wife as her attention is on the new child and normal sexual intimacy is lost due to the wife being tired from caring for the baby and the restrictions due to the birth process. A good way for the couple's intimacy to be restored is for the husband to suckle. This gives him the physical contact with his wife he needs without placing an undue burden on her. This closeness and intimacy can be continued after the child is weaned and become a powerful part of the couple's love life and bonding.

Yes. The most widely used term for this is Adult Nursing Relationship (ANR).

My wife and I practice this, along with a whole lot more people than you might think.

It wont do him any harm.

Breast - milk?

Breast milk is milk that come from the breast. Breast milk is a general term we use to tell the difference between processed formula and milk produced by a human. It is an odd word since all milk is produced by mammary glands, whether human, bovine or dolphin.

Is it safe to take medicine while breastfeeding?

Yes, there are BCP you can use while breast feeding - safely.The"mini-pill" orprogestin-only pill (POP) brand name - Micronor, Errin, Nor-QD, Ovrette, Microval - is preferred for women who are breast feeding because there is no effect on the quality or quantity of breast milk.

These pills must be taken at the same time every day - forgetting even one or taking it as little as 3 hours late can allow ovulation to occur.

Plan B - Emergency Contraceptive is another POP - because of the high dose of hormones this should be used as a last resort and never as routine BC - breast feeding or not. But it is seen as safe for mothers and their infants - it should not be used in the first six weeks after birth due to the stress on an infant's immature liver (hormones are broken down in our liver).

Combination pills contain estrogen a hormone that is known to effect the quantity of breast milk (sometimes dramatically) and has an anecdotal effect of shorter duration of breast feeding. These pills should not be used until the baby is six months old and has an established routine that includes solid foods.

How do you stimulate a womans nipples to produce milk?

Answer Must be that you've never had a nipple in your hand or you wouldn't be asking. When you are old enough to handle a real live nipple you won't need to ask. I like to have mine slowly licked and slowly sucked on, and they get hard faster that way. But it has to be slow.

What contraceptive method is safe while breastfeeding?

You can use any type of barrier method. That would include condoms or diaphragms. Do not use any drug based methods. The birth control method that would potentially be the most damaging to your child would be the pill or Nor Plant type that work by affecting your hormones.

Can you get a piercing while breastfeeding?

According to the FDA, you may not be able to breast feed after breast implantation. Some women who undergo breast augmentation can successfully breast feed and some cannot. Women who undergo a mastectomy will be unable to breast feed on the affected side due to loss of breast tissue and glands that produce milk. A study found that women with either silicone gel-filled or saline-filled breast implants showed lactation insufficiency (not enough milk) ranging from 28-64%. The periareolar approach (incision cite is around the nipple) was the factor most associated with lactation insufficiency. Speaking from personal experience, but I'm sure it depends on the individual, YES you can breast feed with breast implants. Mine are UNDER my muscle, I don't know if that makes a difference. You can breastfeed if you get the implant placed under the muscle. That's what I found through research.. I have saline implants "over" the muscle, and I am breastfeeding my 3 week old infant successfully so far! Good luck!

My sister in law breast fed with implants for three months just fine.

Do you give your baby breast milk if your sick?

It could be lactose intolerance. But for me I feel bad after eating a bowl of ceral then drinking the milk. I have to do this fairly quickly those times. So that is my problem. If you feel sick when you drink milk you should consult a doctor.

Does heroin pass into breast milk?

Yes. Always talk to your doctor.

Also, there is new research out there which says that for some women, the hormones of pregnancy actually react to codeine in such a way that too much morphine is metabolized and it becomes much more powerful than it normally would be - which can effect both mother and child. So, you may be safer asking for something synthetic - like tramadol, oxycodone, or hydrocodone, rather than anything with codeine.

How do i stop my eight month old daughter from biting me during breast feeding?

My Mom did it the inhumane way which was biting them back ( not too hard though, just enough to give them the idea). But she swears it worked on us.

My Aunt just kept telling my cousin No and to not bite, and after awhile he stopped biting people.

Other people just put the baby down and tell them no biting, and any baby would hate being put down so that works too.

Other than that I would ask a doctor, they might give you some insight on the issue.

Can you smoke spice while breast feeding?

Spice is nothing but hazardous chemicals sprayed onto dead back yard plants. All smoke contains dangerous chemicals, so you should not be smoking anything at all while you're pregnant. If you're that desperate, purchase a vaporizer. That way you can enjoy your weed without lighting it on fire and smoking it.

Can you take Advil while breastfeeding?

Could getting a tattoo or piercing while breast feeding affect the milk?

Yes. Make sure to go to a clean and sterile studio that follows universal precautions, including using an autoclave (that is spore tested at least once a week), single-use ink caps, gloves, and needles.
Nope. Tattoo artists will not do it. You have to have your "6 week clearance" after you stop breatfeeding from your doctor. If you get a tattoo while breast feeding, it CAN possibly enter the blood stream and then pass through the breat milk. It is just not worth endangering your child if something MIGHT happen.

Where is breastfeeding in public illegal?

No, it is not illegal for a mother to breastfeed her child in a public place in the UK.
A mother is legally entitled to breastfeed wherever she may need to. Whether that be a public park, a shopping street, a restaurant and so on.

In fact, it is illegal to tell the mother to leave the premises for breastfeeding. It is also illegal to discriminate, harass or offend a breastfeeding woman. Asking a woman to leave your premises or cover herself up or calling her names because she is breastfeeding will earn you a criminal record under a law in the UK called Sex Discrimination Act.
The UK also has laws against causing fear to children under Section 4 of the Public Order Act, so you could also be charged for that alongside the Sex Discrimination Act if you unnecessarily lash at the mother.

In short, no it is not illegal. The mother of a child is legally entitled to breastfeed her child wherever she needs no matter how public the location is. Discriminating the mother or telling her to leave the area however is illegal.

Can you get a facial piercing while you are pregnant?

Getting a facial piercing while pregnant is possible, although it is risky. Piercing increases the risk of infection and it also limits any medication that you could take for such an infection. It is better to just wait to get a piercing after having and weaning the baby. If someone still plans on getting a piercing it is probably best if they discuss this with their doctor first.

Blood-born infections are very rare in facial piercings, unless it's through the tongue. Most infections are epidurmal. I agree you should check with the doctor, but if you're in a clean place you should be fine.

How can you breast feed your adopted baby?

There is one medication that has shown an 84% success rate - oral metoclopramide (reglan) typical dose is 10 mg three times daily; started when the surrogate host is about 28 weeks pregnant and discontinued 1 week before the expected date of delivery. In addition to drug therapy, you need to use an electric breast pump several times a day. Good Luck!

Is there something wrong with my breastfed 4 month old who STILL wakes every 3-4 hours to eat at night Please Help I am beyond exhausted and haven't sleep more than 5 hours straight since he was born?

Nothing is wrong with your 4 month old, judging solely the fact that he eats every 3 to 4 hours at 4 months old. If you want him to sleep trough the night, observe this: - How much is he eating during the day? Why not pump the milk and feed him with a bottle, so you know? Baby that eats enough during the day does not need to be fed during the night. - Do not sleep in the same room as the baby, because your smell is what wakes him up during the night to feed. - During the night, when he becomes fussy, offer him a pacifier and comfort him first, do not feed him right away. Wait a bit, if he goes back to sleep, let him. He will grow just as well, even if he passes 8 hours straight without feeding. But feed him if he starts to cry (the way you know it means "I am hungry.) My older daughter slept 8 hours straight from 3 weeks old. Sometimes, at the age of 3 months, she slept 10 hours straight. She was always on the 95th percentile curve. My son, now 6 months old, also very big for his age, manage that with 3 months old. They both sleep in their own bedroom and had/have 5 meals during the day. Or ask Dad to feed him during the night, as an alternative. Even if he has to work, feeding him once a day (at least) should be his duty and pleasure, because it's important for him and the baby to bond, and you can have at least 6 hours straight of sleep, each day.
