How can you improve as a learner?
Here are some ways to improve your ability to learn. Browse through the Learning Tips section for more specific hints and tips that will help you learn. * Think of life as a learning experience - every problem you encounter, from schoolwork to situations at home, will teach you ways of solving that problem. The better you get at solving problems, the more you have learned. * Approach learning as a positive thing - you learn more, and do it more easily, if you have a curious attitude. Ask questions, notice things, and look for similarities and differences between new material and things you are familiar with already. * The Multi-Pass Approach: this is a learning method that involves exposing yourself to the material many times instead of trying to "cram." Read over the material as soon as you have a chance, even if it is just for a few minutes. Look at the diagrams or math problems, flip through the textbook and look at the pictures, or investigate the classroom. The more you let your mind "percolate" on something, the better you will learn it. * Take short breaks. Studies have shown that you learn more if you take a 2-5 minute break for every 30-40 minutes of study (take a 10 minute break after every two hours). Also, studies have shown that the brain best recalls things that you study first and last - this means that shorter study sessions with breaks between will help you learn more material. * Shift Your Paradigm! This is a fancy way of saying "Change the way you look at the situation." If you are studying, change your outlook and pretend you are the teacher - design a test or lesson around what you are studying. Or pretend you are in business and have to figure out a way to advertise or illustrate this material. Anything that you do to think about the problem differently will open up new ways to learn.

First and most importantly, do not panic! It is not the end of the world! Panicking will only serve to make you fluster and you will be less likely to absorb the information. Second, you need to prioritise and check through last year's past exam paper. It is reasonably likely that they will not cover the same topics/books in the new exam, so use this to eliminate some topics and slim your revision down. Then, memorise some key names and dates and try and write up some flashcards. Try and get a good night sleep too. If you are so tired, you cannot concentrate in your exam.

Effective learners have the following things in common: * Dedication - they treat learning and studying like a job, and work on it every day * Curiousity - they wonder about how the world works and how to do things * Ability to Be Self-Directed - they are able to motivate themselves and do the work without anyone telling them to do it * Self-Awareness - they realize when they are actually learning and when they need to work a little more on an assignment * Honesty - this goes with self-aware, because effective learners won't skip over work just because it is hard, or tell themselves that they know it better than they really do * Open-mindedness - they are willing to try new things and explore new ideas * Willingness to Risk Mistakes - effective learners understand that making mistakes actually helps you to learn better than doing something perfectly - when you make a mistake, you learn a lot about why that didn't work and also about how to correct the mistake and do better next time

The best way to memorize a long list is by using a memory trick like making an anagram or "silly sentence." Write the amendments in order. Take the most important word from each one - for example, Freedom for "freedom of religion, speech, the press, and to petition" and Bear Arms for "the right to keep and bear arms."
Once you have decided on the main word that you will be able to remember best for each sentence, take the first letter of each of those words and write them down the page, one letter for each line.
Now, make up another word that starts with each letter - the goal is to make a silly sentence that you can remember easily, but which will remind you of the first letter of each word you are trying to memorize!
