I just got home from the shop with the same problem, I was told that it has to be changed and its a dealer part only. Running an average of $475 just for the part. My check engine light came on and then the o/d light started flashing. To change it they have to drop the Transmission pan.

I am not sure of the difference in the 97 and the 98 but i drive a 97 and the fuse box is located to the bottom left of the steering wheel behind the little change drawer.It may be possible that they have the same location

There are also fuses under the hood on the passenger side.

In my frustration, you have to lift and pull up on the change drawer. Remove the change first! :) On the back of the change drawer will be the diagram for where and what the fuses do. Stock up on mini fuses.

If it doesn't have a small screw, then look for a small indent that you can put a small screw driver to open it up where you will see the battery.

Tools needed: New Spark Plugs Spark Plug Wrench Socket wrench Extension (At least 2-3 inch) size 10 socket size 12 socket First thing you need to do is find out where the spark plug cover is. Once you figure that out there will probably be size 10 or/and 12 bolts honding it down. Take that off and there you will see sensors connecting to each other and holding the spark plug in the cylinders. Unplug all the sensors and pull out the circular plugs holding the spark plugs down. THey might be a little tight and hard to get out so you're going to need to give it a good tug. once you pull them out MAKE SURE YOU DONT DROP ANYTHING INTO THE CYLINDERS. You can look down into them and see the spark plugs. Get your spark plug wrench, extension, and socket wrench and stick them down in and push so that the spark plug wrench grabs them. Just simply unscrew the plugs, pull them all out, and then put the next ones in, and tighten them down. Just connect all the sensors, and put the cover back on and you're done. Pretty simple. Your gas cap may have been left loose or the oring on the cap needs replaced unless you have lost it. If this is the case do yourself a favor and buy the thirty dollar Lexus replacement

in the worst dam place in the world under the intake were you cant get to it unless you remove the intake . also if you are going to replace it you need to replace the wire going to it that is more likely the problem than the nox sensor. the wire it thiry five bucks the sensor wholesale is one hondred and fifty good luck

I assume that your question relates to the high stop light. From the back seat face the back window. Firmly grab the plastic enclosure and pull it towards you. It might not release very easely, but that's the only way it comes out. Do not use a screw driver to prime it upwards as that can only damage it and will not help release the assembly.
