It could be your torque convertor, which sounds sort of like you are running over railroad tracks or 'stop ahead road grooves' at a high rate of speed. It is recommended to add Mercon V to your transmission fluid
86 Lincoln mark Vii alternator not charging?
Well it could be the external regulator on the right side of the engine compartment or a bad alternator . First I would have the battery checked to verify the battery is good but only after fully charging it , then try replacing the regulator first because its cheapest and if the alternator is in fact bad it should be replaced with the alternator anyway. If the regulator doesn't help then It's probably safe to assume it would be the alternator. I've had a loose plug on the alternator also that would keep it from charging, you might wanna check that and all your connections first.

not an easy answer, not an easy project.1)remove seats front and rear.2)remove windshield pillar upholstry. 3)remove roof railing above doors. 4)remove and disconnect wiring from overhead console.make sure that all metal rails have been removed from around headliner. 5)remove panels from side windows, see why you had to remove back seat? now the roof liner is held on bya few push clips and some glue. remove clips and slowly remove headliner. now you will have to bend the headliner to get it out of the car do not crease the headliner or you will ruin it. again that's whyyou remove the seats. now the roof tracks can be visible. there are four screws that hold the sunroof in. use a short screwdriver ou may have to reposition the sun roof by moving it back and forthtill the screws are visible. now im assuming you have a leaking problem, but the problem with this is the felt gasket is no longer available from ford and i don't think anyone makes a repop. but if your problem is just the motor, you still have to go through most of these same procedures. the motor is under the headliner.also, the tracks are rivited into the roof, anyway, best of luck

i had the same problem today with my 1991 lsc. the problem was a small hole in my exhaust pipe. hc limit is 0.80. my car was 0.81. all other readings were well below limit. if 02 sensor, etc. are okay, check for exhaust leaks at manifold or pipes. good luck.

No such thing. Air goes in and out to the bags thru the same tube, exits at the compressor. Each bag has its own solenoid valve so the system tubing is unpressurized when the compressor is off. If you want to drop the entire car, you'll need a diagnostic scanner with the suspension functions. If you need to deflate an individual bag, disconnect the electrical connector to its solenoid valve, disconnect the air tubing by pulling on the round collar where it enters the valve, remove the silver retaining clip, twist a quarter of a turn to first stop and pull down. Valve can then be removed by twisting another quarter of a turn and pulling out.

There should be a button you push somewhere on the face of the speedo near the odometer, if you have an analog type instrument cluster. Now if it's a digital type (which I'm not sure was used on a 1990?) I don't know how you would do it on that one??? If you can push the button and it doesn't go back to zero the you will need a new cluster, I have had this problem on mine before also had one that went back to zero and never moved again. I am now on my 4th speedo head, they seem to have some trouble with everything. I had one that made noice and another one the tach got stuck... They do show up on eBay too and I can change one out in about an hr. I hope this helps you???

I have an 90 LSC as well, it was the amp. I replaced it with an amp from the wreckerrs from a Ford Windstar van (same year) and it works great, same plug and everything.

There was a recall that year because the air shocks would fail in cold weather thus causing the rear end to look more like a race car than a luxury car. It happened to me and I kind of liked the look. Long story short-- the problem was with a switch. Dealer replaced with new type at no cost.

first when car is cold open radiator cap add if needed, then borrow a rad pressure tester, or have a local shop pressure 80% of the time its one of the many small heater hoses leakink with pressure you look under car for anti freeze leaking. if system is full and temp gets hot make sure fan clutch is good when engine is hot rev engine 2000 rpm it should feel like a big house fan if fan balde is not pulling air clutch is bad, also peek between radiator and ac condensor ive seen leaves block the whole radiator.if thermostat is bad on radiator hose will be cold and one hot check at operating temp. this indicates a stuck closed thermostat, the older car are also famous for clogged radiators drain some coolant and look inside radiator if it looks like the tubes are blocked with corrosion and mineral deposits replace radiator also check the oil stick and make sure the oil is clean. milky white oil is sign of coolant leaking inside engine ex bad head gasket or bad intake gasket. if you dont understand get it to a shop for a estimate and diagnosis overheat is a killer of engines. good luck g d
How do you change fuel filter on 1990 Lincoln mark vii?
The fuel filter is located under neath the car to the right of gas cap in front of right rear tire. It has a clamp that you loosen by using a flat head screw driver . The two fuel line's going in and one coming out have a plastic clip that holds the lines to filter. You can use the same screw driver to remove clips.These lines will have some pressure on them so be careful when removing them.Follow in revers to install. It is all ways a good idea to disconnect your battery when working on your car.Especially if it is fuel related
Make sure you get something to catch the fuel that will squirt out of the fuel lines too... I also always spray CRC Marine Grade or Silicone Spray on the clamp, the new fuel filter and the sleeve it sides into, so as to prevent rust from the road salt if you live in an area where it snows or near an ocean. I had one rust out before its time and started leaking fuel they are made a lot cheaper then when my car was new...
