A lock that is not mastered will only work with one key. By adding small pins in the lock cylinder it can be made to use two keys. The second key is a master key. By adding different sizes of these small pins to the cylinders of locks with different keys they can all be made to work with this master key. Thia all depends on which code you are trying to change. The digital electronic code that comes with the safes can not be changed. what you need to do is program a user code into the sentry safe which can be re programed by the safe owner's. If you can get hold of it with needle nose pliers you can slide it out. Otherwise, you will probably need a locksmith.

if there is a small hole in the center of the knob you push something into it (like a coat hanger straightened out) until you here a clicking sound and it should open. if there is no hole in the knob, use the sharp point of a knife to pry the bolt back between the door and the frame next to the knob.

If you've lost the combination, your only option is to 'cycle' through every number - starting with the lowest - until you find the correct number !

take seats out so that you can gain access to the door panel. remove it and unlock. or remove fuse. not sure if it has one though.

You have 3 choices in this situation. You can call a locksmith and have a key made. You can go to the dealership and have them make a key. You can have a new key and tumbler installed.

Two people will make removing the panel easier. To do this, you'll need a phillips screwdriver, penetrating lubricant, and pliers.

First, if you cannot open the door at all: There is a small plastic disc plugging a hole just above the latch on the inside. Pop out that disk, and use a screwdriver to lift the latch mechanism. It should not take a great deal of force to move the latch. When the latch moves, push the door and it should open.

1. Remove the plastic panel on the inside of the van. You need to remove the handle and several screws on the perimeter of the door.

2. Disconnect the interior door lights by gently pulling the wiring harness (two of these).

3. Looking at the door from the interior, there is a small electronic plunger mechanism on the right side with an "accordion" (this is the electric lock). There is a rod that goes from the to the middle of the door, just above the lock mechanism. Another rod goes from the key lock to the latch. This rod, threaded on one end, snaps into a small bracket on the latch. It may need to be snapped back in. There may also be a rubbery/tar-like sticker near the locking mechanisms that can be removed (it can interfere with some of the moving parts).

4. Manually operate the plunger on the electric lock several times using pliers. Mine was extremely stiff. It should move the rod at least a full inch.

5. Spray lubricant on the latch, the back of the key lock, and the back of the exterior handle. Also spray lubricant into the key lock itself (where the key goes). Do NOT spray lubricant on the electronic lock mechanism or plunger.

6. Just above the latch, there is a small hole (only about 1/8" around). Carefully and liberally spray lubricant into that hole in every direction (this is where the rods from the key lock, electric lock, and latch meet). There is a white plastic post that comes out through another nearby hole. Spray lubricant liberally into that hole, too.

7. Again, manually operate the plunger on the electric lock several times using pliers. It should be considerably smoother to operate.

8. Put your key into the key lock and pull it out several times.

9. Spray lubricant into the key lock again, then carefully operate the lock with the key. If it didn't work or was stiff before, it should operate much more smoothly. Operate the electric locks several times.

10. When operating the lock, you should see the plunger on the electric lock move to its extents (at least an inch). Watch it when using a key and using the electric lock.

11. Check the movements of the rod and plunger when operating the lock, and the movements of the latch when operating the handle (when unlocked). If anything is still really stiff, use some more lubricant and operate the lock and handle again.

12. When reassembling the door panel, remember to plug in the two wiring harnesses for the interior lights.

1. Open the lock.

2. Rotate the shackle 180 degrees so that it is parallel with the body of the lock -- just as though you were about to close it, but with the shackle facing the wrong way.

3. Push the shackle in, as though you were closing lock.

4. Hold it in and set the new combination. (On some models, you will not have to hold the shackle in place.)

5. Release the shackle. (Or, if you did not have to hold it in, pull it up.)

The new combination should now be set. As with all such products, test it before locking it onto an item.

I had this problem after replacing the driver's door due to accident damage, in my case I replaced a 2000 door with a 2003 door, due to intervening "upgrades", in Renault's infinite wisdom, it transpires that the drivers door lock now operates in reverse to all the other locks, and every time the other three doors were locked, it was unlocked, or locked when they were released, however, having attempted everything I or my friend had ever heard in relation to re-setting electronic locks, including reversing the connections in the loom, swapping the loom, and ninety nine different methods of re-starting the lock set up, I hit upon installing the original door lock, this has the older setting in common with the existing doors and carries on working perfectly in synch. as before, although some of our attempts seemed to work initially, this is the only thing we tried which worked and carried on working.

Make sure the door is unlocked and pull the handle, either inside or outside, and it should open the lock. If not, use a screwdriver to pry it back open with the handle pulled all the way out or up depending on the handle.

You can move the latch back to the open position by nudging it. This may still prevent it from locking on the component piece when you attempt to close the door, so you will need to take it to a mechanic.

Depends upon the type of lock and latching mechanism. Most closets open out, which means the hinges are accessable. Pull the pins out of the hinges and the door can be pulled out and away from the lock. Some security closets will have the pins welded in place to prevent this. There are some other ways of preventing this as well. Pick the lock. On a simple latch type lock as found in most homes, physically sliding the latch back can work. This can be done with stiff item such as a credit card or piece of sheet metal. Most home doors such as closets and bathrooms with a simple latch lock also have a hole in the middle of the doorknob. Inserting a wire and pushing straight back will release the lock mechanism to allow the knob to turn. A good one to know when the kid locks themselves in!
