You cannot convert Apple/Mac software to PC/Windows software....Software applications (sometimes known as executable programs---.EXE in PC) have an ending or extension (the letters after the period or dot) of .exe for PC and .dmg for Mac (generally). Without saying too much more it just cannot be done.

What one can do is CONVERT any Mac or PC movie, audio or video file that can then be watched on whatever OS (operating system---XP/Vista or OSX/Mac or Linux). This is done with video conversion software. One quick thing---it would very helpful to know what format the movie is in NOW in order to convert it ti the proper format.

For instance: a PC .wma, .avi, divx, .vob, .mpeg, .wmv or whatever can be easily converted to a file that any modern Mac with an updated Quicktime program will play.

With todays cross-platform compatability Quicktime (with the proper codecs) will play almost ANY windows media file; and vice versa; a PC will play a Macintosh .aac with the correct player/codec (a codec is short for "compression/de-compression). Flash media can be playey with u a universal flash player etc.......

So, if you need further help just leave a message (with what type of movie you are trying to view and on what type of Mac machine and OSX)...

Don't quite know what you are referring to about "a mac free program". Free as in no charge---freeware? or mac free as in no mac around I need to convert my iPod movies?......

Feeding Frenzy 2 is only available for computers running the Windows operating system there is no Mac version yet. (See links below)

Go to the Apple Store and buy a Leopard Retail Disk. These can cost about $129. Then pop in Install Disk 1 and follow the on-screen instructions. When prompted, insert Disk 2 when Disk 1 pops out.

Pivot only works with the Windows operating system and has not been updated since 2004. Stykz is new software that expands the original Pivot ideas. It is available for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows. (See links below)

The Windows Media Player and iTunes use different formats for their playlists. Depending on which version of Media Player you have you can save your playlist as an .m3u file type and then import that into iTunes using the menus - File/Library/Import playlists

The Desktop Destroyer screen saver by Isotope is for Windows computers and so will not work with Mac OS X. There are numerous variations on this theme available for the Mac - Void being a personal favourite. (See links below) To install a downloaded saver file (ie theName.saver) double click on it's icon and it will automagically install for you.

If the problem was to create e.g. a label inserting a picture object e.g. from Windows Draw - Vista will not work. If you save the picture as a Windows bit map (.bmp) it works - probably also with other picture file formats. Regards from Sweden

You need a digitizer or a DV videocamera. There are two basic types of digitizers: Firewire and USB. Most camcorder that have the mini DV tapes also have the jacks to connect to a vcr and a firewire cable (also called iLink) goes from the camera to the computer. You'll need to check your camera manual for how to connect it and how to start the process) Generally speaking, the camcorder circuits handle the analog to digital conversion and iMovie and other video editing software have an Import button that starts importing footage automatically. As for the digitizer approach....Here are some manufacturers who make the little boxes that convert plain old analog audiovideo coming from your standard VCR and pipe it into your computer via a Firewire cable: In no particular order: Pinnacle, Canopus, AVerMedia, Dazzle/Hollywood, Plexor, Elgato) There are tons of additional features on these boxes. Some have a TV tuner so you can watch tv on your computer or use your computer like a VCR to record shows. Others allow you to compress video without putting more work on your computer's processor. The basic components you need are Inputs: Composite and S-Video. Outputs: Firewire (or USB) Composite and S-video

Wow, not many questions will polarize those answering as much as this 25+ year old question. Both companies make good hardware. But the real difference is in operating systems...or "Is a computer running Windows better than a computer running the MAC operating system?"

And..the answer depends. What do you want to do with your computer? If you have special needs, find a software package well suited to them, and then see which operating system the software package works on.

I've been involved with desktop computers and support since 1983, and UNIX systems almost as long...and in countless times I've seen people buy HARDWARE and then look for software to do what they want...when they would have been better served to find SOFTWARE that meets their needs and then see what hardware was needed to run it.

The computer user community is deeply divided on the subject of PC versus MAC, and zealots will argue vehemently on both sides of the question.

A few things to consider:

PRO-PC: You can generally find PCs cheaper than MACs. You will find many more PC users out there who may be able to help you than you would MAC computers.

PRO-MAC: Those I know who have spent much time on both seem to generally like the MACs better. Few viruses target MACs. MACs used to be much less subject to "crashes" or "lockups" requiring a reboot, (but newer WINDOWS operating systems are much more stable than the older WINDOWS software of just 4 or 5 years ago.)

If it makes any difference to you, or means anything, the MAC operating system is now built on top of a UNIX system. (If that doesn't mean anything to you, not a big deal.)
