When we cast a spell we are either sending a message e.g. healing, banishing - or we are looking to receive a desired response e.g. inspiration, love/friendship, prosperity etc. In both cases, a magic spell is designed to create a vibration that will result in the required effect. By using tools with a similar or complementary vibration we can produce a specific signal. An everyday example: If we went for a job interview we would wear smart clothes, choose a pleasant aftershave/perfume, apply neutral make-up and adopt a professional demeanour. In magic the most common tools that are utilised are herbs, crystals, rituals, the petitioning of deities, incense, oils and colours to name but a few. Magic is the manipulation of naturally occurring power by the will of a single practitioner (or a group of like minded practitioners lead by a single will) Magic is power, pure and simple.To help answer this question I will use electricity as a mundane corollary.
The energy itself is neither good nor bad. It is in its use that polarity can be attributed. When electricity is used to cook food, heat homes and light the darkness it is perceived as good. When it is used to torture people, damage things or kill someone, then it is perceived as bad or evil. The energy itself is neither, it simply is.
In the same way, magical energies are simply there. It is how we draw upon and use the energies that determine how they are perceived. Black, grey, white, purple or green is in the will that directs the energies. Ethics in a practitioner are of paramount importance.

Here’s the basic process. After you’ve got this down, we’ll look at a few ways to influence the outcome of the coin flip.
- Step One - Make your hand into a fist, wedging your thumb against your index finger or in the crease between your index finger and middle finger. Point the thumb side up.
- Step Two - Place the coin on top of your fist on the space between your thumb and index finger. You can use any coin, but larger coins work better.

Changing the Outcome of the Coin FlipThere are dozens of ways to alter or predict the outcome of a coin flip. We’ll focus on two of the easiest methods:
Feel the coin when you catch it. With some practice, you can easily differentiate between the smooth “heads" side and the comparatively rougher “tails" side. If the coin’s in your palm and you’ve got an outcome you don’t like, flip it once more while displaying it.
The classic method, of course, is to flip it onto the back of your opposite hand, but people will catch on to that pretty quick.
If you move your hand while displaying the coin, you may be able to flip it with your thumb during the display. This is a bit tricky, but with practice, it’s an easy trick to pull on your gullible friends.
Don’t actually flip the coin. Instead of flicking your thumb to flip the coin, use your index finger to give it a slight wobble as you toss it softly into the air. Simply pull your index finger along the edge to spin the coin like a frisbee.
The wobble will make the coin seem like it’s flipping, but it’ll actually stay in the same position, so if it starts as “heads,” you simply need to call “heads.” This takes some practice, but it’s remarkably effective.
How random are coin flips, anyway?Let’s say that you’re not interested in learning sleights of hand. Could you gain any sort of advantage by picking “heads" over “tails,” or vice-versa?

The world doesn't work that way and only happens through the special magic of TV and movies with the help of the special affects people. Yet, magic does exist in a sunset, a spider spinning a web, the love of a kitten, snow falling in soft flakes, and beautiful art. All of this and more is the true beauty of life and all we have to do is open ourselves to it to see the "magic" of the world.
Can you use black magic but not believe in god?
Just a clarification here, there isn't really such a thing as "black magic". Magic is power. It is the way the power is drawn and the manner in which it is used (determined by the practitioner and his/her ethics) that give the power its polarity. As to believing in god... which one(s). It is difficult to wield real power and not believe in something greater than yourself.

However, technically speaking, you dont have to believe in the array of Pagan Gods for your spell to work. You can just believe in the power of the Universe, (minus the Gods), and do what the CoS's (Church of Satan) do. CoS magick users believe in themselves, and believe that they get their own power through hard work and etc. They dont believe in any form of deity whatsoever.
In my opinion, though, magick should be practiced as a form of worship to the Gods. Magick is the highest forms of worship. And to me, who doesnt have a specific sect of Paganism I identify with, witchcraft is just as much as a dedicated religion as Wicca is.

What few practitioners of any discipline come right out and say is all magic is manipulation. This means as conscientious magical practitioners we are obliged to constantly monitor not only our actions, but also our motivations.

But alongside this idea is the possibility that those who die and transform into this force of magical energy can choose what it is used for initially.
