Can the freedom to choose be a drawback?

User Avatar
Freedom to choose has several drawbacks:- 1. The person has to think before deciding, and thinking takes effort. Not everyone likes 'effort', especially in the 'thinking' department! 2. Having chosen, the chooser is responsible for the consequences of making that choice. Many people don't like to take responsibility for their actions. If things go wrong, they only have themselves to blame, but if they are just following orders, or have no alternatives, they feel they can't be blamed for anything bad that might happen as a result of doing what they did. 3. It takes time to choose. Shopping in a supermarket would certainly be a lot quicker if there was only one type of everything they have on offer. Freedom to choose makes shopping a major undertaking! 4. When our minds should be focusing on major matters that need urgent solutions, our minds are being bombarded by advertising blurb which presents an ever-increasing range of things to choose from. If we weren't distracted by all the choices we seem to have, we could be more productive and effective in those matters which vitally need our attention. But the distraction of 'choice' is so powerful that we seem to have forgotten what it is we have been distracted from! 5. Choice means waste. Manufacturers continue to produce 'ranges' of similar products in the hope of securing greater market share. With 'choice' many product lines will not be the 'flavor of the month', and all that production effort will go to waste. When people have choice it is difficult, nay, impossible to predict what they will buy. And unwanted products have to be scrapped. What a waste! 6. Freedom to choose means we have bigger wardrobes. (to house a selection of clothes from which we can choose each day) Bigger wardrobes mean bigger houses. Bigger houses mean more financial burdens. More financial burdens mean stress. Oh for the simple life! It would make getting up and going out so much easier!

How do you write a marketing plan?

User Avatar
This is advice on small business marketing planning from the Federal Consumer Information Center and the Small Business Administration: The first step in developing a small business marketing plan is to understand your market. Market evaluation is critical and provides the basic data that will determine if and where you can successfully sell your product or service. Developing a small business marketing plan involves defining your goals, scrutinizing your competition and your customer base, and interviewing potential suppliers. The information collected can help you; if necessary, adapt your product or service to better meet customer needs. Market research can help you: * create primary and alternative sales approaches to a given market, * make profit projections from a more accurate database, * organize marketing activities, * develop critical short- and mid-term sales goals and establish the market's profit boundaries, and * identify what makes your business different from similar businesses with similar products. Your marketing research should answer these basic questions: * Who are your customers? * Where are they located? * What are their needs and resources? * Is the service or product essential in their operations or activities? * Can the customer afford the service or product? * Where can you create a demand for the service or product? * Can you compete effectively in price, quality and delivery? * How many competitors provide the same service or product? * What is the general economy of your service or product area? * What areas within your market are declining or growing? Research on competitors is extremely important. Visit industry trade shows to find out what your competitors are selling and how they are marketing their products. Similarly, stay current on industry magazines and publications. Market research isn't a one-time activity. Once you establish your business, you should stay in touch with your customers. You may have to adapt your product or service and alter your marketing strategy to keep up with your customers' changing needs.

Should you get an MBA after an engineering education even before you have job experience?

User Avatar
Previous answer makes good sense but there's another angle to consider. Based on the experience of a friend's son, here's what is also possible. Many students have the opportunity to spend a good deal of time in their studies. If that's possible, here's the scenario currently going on in the engineering field. If you can graduate high in your undergrad class, and are thinking about a higher level of study, let your undergrad mentor know you'd like to find a good 5 year Ph.d university. Currently top schools like Georgia Tech recruit high level undergrads to their 5 year Ph.d programs. It's almost a freebie too. They'll stipend a student to about $24,000 per year and it's either teaching or doing research to pay your 5 year tuition costs. The friend's son soon figured out that instead of teaching undergrads, doing research work for Georgia Tech for 5 years let him tide 5 years free of cost, taking into consideration the stipend from GT. The young man had 9.5 years of engineering under his belt and had recruiting offers from dozens of top quality companies. He had to "look" no where as Tech grad students are heavily recruited. To boot, his dissertation became the basis for a patent! He & GT shared the license fee a Japanese electronics company paid them for use of the patent. And, there's a company that publishes dissertations as research information that can be bought at Barnes & Noble. I bought my friend's sons dissertation at B & N for $80.

Achievement in marketing and sales job?

User Avatar
You can do so well in sales even if you work from home. As long as you're employed with the right company (such as Crescent Processing), you will be able to deliver impressive results. ---------- It is very important that your Professional experience section shows a track record of sales achievements. Under each employer/position, have a brief paragraph that highlights your responsibilities (such as region, budget, roles & responsibilities, etc.). Then provide a bulleted list of your main achievements, and make sure they are meaningful to the potential employer reading your CV. The inclusion of specific facts that include a monetary value intrigue employers.

What are the disadvantages of advertising on buses?

User Avatar
Advertising on buses works great for national advertisers that wish to brand their message. Bus ads also work great for gov't agencies that have broad public messages, such as flu vaccination education. Bus advertising doesn't work as well for small businesses that seek direct responses from their ads. Bus ads don't produce direct responses. Therefore, small businesses should focus on direct mail, flyers and local search engine optimization. Look through the resource website links, below, for examples of bus advertisers.

What kind of company is Sylvan Marketing Inc?

User Avatar
Received a letter from Sylvan Marketing Inc. today. It told me I was a winner of $9000 US. I RECEIVED A CHECK FOR $998.10 dated June 24th 2010. Said that a processing fee and payment of taxes would be required to claim the additional monies. Sounds to good to be true...Right? Well it is....Here's how it works....The check you received can be cashed! So since you received this money your apt to trust the sender. So you will probably do exactly what they tell you to do....WAY WRONG! What will happen is you will cash the $998.10 check and pay the processing fee to these people and then all is done....BUT THE CASHED CHECK WILL BOUNCE! These people have YOUR PROCESSING FEE AND TAX MONIES and you will be stuck paying the bank back all of the money. SUCKS because I need the money too! Then I thought...maybe I should go to another bank, open up an account, cash the check and shortly close the acct....BUT then I thought about KARMA.....I hope this helps everyone.
