Yes at his time, in the Renaissance, the Church was very powerful. He was provoking questioning about God and proving Methods of thinking and science. Math and Science were enemies of the Church and if one was an enemy of the Church of course you're going to be controversial. Hope this helps lol.

Fermat's last theorem says there does not exist three positive integers a, b, and c which can satisfy the equation an + bn = cn for any integer value of n greater than 2. (2 with be pythagoran triples so we don't include that) Fermat proved the case for n=4, but did not leave a general proof. The proof of this theorem came in 1995. Taylor and Wiles proved it but the math they used was not even known when Fermat was alive so he could not have done a similar proof.

Descartes reasoning was based on deriving principles that were then the premise of deductive reasoning. Bacon, on the other hand, used empirical observations that were then used for inductive reasoning.

It is an interminable code and nobody really works on it professionally because it is impossibly long. 'What do you have to do to solve it?' is probably what you are asking yourself, so i will tell you. You put down the number zero, then you put down the next consecutive number, which is one, and then you add the two. You take the answer of 0+1, which is one, and then put it as the next number in the code. Next you take the answer to the problem that you just solved, which is one, and add it to the number before it, one, then you have the next number in the code. You go on and on.
