What is wrong if you only get your period 3 times a year?
I don't think it's a big deal. I only have 2 or 3 times a year, as well. I talked to the docotor and he said he could give me a shot or something to ake it regular but it wasn't a big deal if I just left it alone. If you're overweight it's most likely the reason, but I would go talk to a doctor just in case. I had a friend and she turned out to be collecting everything and it had to be all flushed out.

The spotting sounds like break through bleeding. You should never stop your period from arriving by taking birth control without consulting your gyn or doctor beforehand. See your DR about your spotting.

Do you mean you only bled for one day before you were due for your period? If so you may be pregnant and you may be experiencing implantation bleeding!

There's a couple of things I'd like to advise:
1) Is there any way that you could be pregnant? If there is, take a pregnancy test
2) Are you eating a healthy and balanced diet containing at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, drinking plenty of water, getting enough iron in your diet and getting plenty of sleep? Have you been ill, stressed or worried? Have you lost or put on weight? All of these things/not doing these things can make your periods stop for a while.
3) It is really important to go and speak to your doctor or gynaecologist about this to get checked out and make sure nothing is wrong.
4) The pill will not help - the pill can stop periods or make them lighter which is not something you need

HEY!- just a little piece of information. My step sister had the same problem and is not on any drugs or sexually active. It is possibly that even though you period started off regular, you could still have an irregular period. It is normal and you should not freak out. Tons of people have irregular periods.But that does not mean you can't still get pregnant, because your period is irregular you need to be more careful! If you periods start getting too far apart, you should talk to your doctor.
