On the center console of the car, you'll find a big RED square button. You push it towards the rear to put the top down....reverse the action to put the top back up.

If the button doesn't light up, or activate the top's mechanism, you have some problems...you might be out of hydraulic fluid, in which case, you have to find the leak, or there is an electrical problem. You can check the fluid level which is located underneath the spare tire...and under a big black plastic cover.

You can also operate the top manually with the long wrench MB provided to you in your tool kit.

Obviously it depends on whats broken...motor, switch, or very likely in these, the window regulator has a plastic part that snapps. Entire Regulator needs replacing. (The regulator is essentially the frame mechanisim that hold and moves the window glasss). Remove interior door panel to do so. Not terribly difficult, but playing around to get the new one to line up right can be tricky....till you get it.

I do not know that is why I asked the question. The retainer ring has a plastic or acrylic frame around it.

That light coming on when you apply the brakes is your brake sensors, from the front brakes, telling you that it's about time to replace the front brake pads. You still have some time to replace the pads and sensors, maybe a thousand miles would be my guess. Depending on the wear on the rotors (check the lips on the outside edge of the rotors) you might only need to replace the pads, and not the rotors. It's not recommended to turn these rotors, but replace them. It's cheaper to just swap the rotors. You can pick rotors up for under $40.00 each, and pads for around $35.00. Sensors are under $10.00 for the 4 you need. And then the brake grease to apply on the back of the pads is only a few dollars. So for around $125.00, you can have a front brake job, providing you're doing the work yourself. If you take it to a garage, it will cost $3-350.00. Dealerships will probably charge you at least $500.00.

There isn't one. the headlight wiper system will come on if the headlights are on and you hit the windshield washer button.

hood release is pulled from the inside of the vehicle near the front of the door opening by your feet. then look for a pull tab under the MB star on the front grill.

I have an 84 380 SL. It gets 21 on the hwy and approx 17 around town. You should get the same.

I am in the same boat here with my 1992 SL 500. Started it tonight and a loud pop. It turned over and I drove it home..however, I thought quickly it was clogged(old wives tale of this kind of engine needing blown out)?)...so I gunned it on the way home...it was a beautfiul response and as if nothing happened. Never ever heard that bang when I started it before. It has 110,000 miles on it. Does leak a little oil. Hopefully, your question gets answered as I am anxious to know.

My hard top latch lock is broken just the lock latch can I just buy the lock unit

The paint code (3 digits) is usually found on the radiator support in the engine bay (under the hood)

You will see many sets of 3 digits numbers. The paint code will be the 4th set of numbers at the top row. For example, the top row has 242 323 080 197 201. The paint code will be #197 or Obsidian Black.

This engine has a compression ratio that should allow it to use regular unleaded gasoline.

10w-40 as it says in the manual...10w-30 is second choice

1. Disconnect negative battery cable and remove air cleaner. Romove 3 intake manifold support bolts (on either side of throttle body, one bolt next to starter). Disconnect return spring between throttle valve housing and intake manifold support. 2. On vehicles with cruise control, remove 3 nuts and actuator. Partial removal of actuator is required so that starter may be turned for removal and installation. 3. Remove support from starter and engine block. Disconnect draglink from pitman arm. Disconnect battery positive cable from firewall by loosening fastening rail and holder. 4. Disconnect starter solenoid wiring from fender panel junction block. Turn steering wheel fully right. Remove starter bolts and starter. To install, reverse removal procedure.

It's actually a cartridge. It's located near the firewall in the center of the engine compartment. You will need a cap remover which attaches to a socket wrench.

This question was answered a couple of weeks ago....

OK...here we go again....you're going to need a couple of things...the top removal tool or a long flat blade screwdriver, two strong men, and a place to store your top.

Roll the windows down, unplug the wire coming from the right, inside glass panel wire that routes into that little flap with two snaps on it. Undo the snaps and carefully pull out the wire...then separate the connector. On the opposite side, you'll see a little crank and lever ...turn the crank towards the rear of the car...you'll hear the latch disengage, and turn the little lever down.

You'll need the screwdriver now....above each visor,you'll see a chrome slotted bolt...insert the screwdriver,and push towards the outside side....the top will rise up a little...undo both sides....then, the rear slotted bolts are each next to the inside windows....insert the screwdriver into the slots and turn to the left....with all four bolts loosened you''re ready to remove the top...two guys, one on each side...lift the top straight up, about six inches and walk the top straight back....you're done.

The Mercedes bolt pattern is 5x112 The factory W211 offset is ET35
