How do I add a picture as this will show exactly where to fill with hyraulic oil, its a round silver/gold cap held in place with a single wing nut between the radiator and the engine.

N0...I don't know of any street car you have to do that to...unless you're trying to steal someone's driveshaft.

I disagree with the above statement. The MB 450SL is, of course, a rear-wheel drive car. The rear wheels of a rear-wheel drive car are connected to the transmission via the driveshaft. When the rear wheels turn, the transmission is turning. If you tow the car for a short distance with the rear wheels on the ground, you should have no problem. However, if you tow the car for a long distance with the rear wheels on the ground, there is a good chance that you will damage the transmission. Removing the driveshaft means that only the rear wheels and rear axle will turn, so there is no chance of damage to the transmission. An alternative is to tow a rear-wheel drive car from the rear, so that only the front wheels will be turning during the tow. If you do this, you must lock the steering wheel, so that the front wheels will be locked in the straight-on position.

Release the tightener found on panel behind drivers door. (Rear of top now loose).

Use (normally not attached, in glove box) handle to turn release the 2 chrome tighteners at the front lip of the top.

Pull up on the rear of the top...folding in along window.

release the cover over the boot for the top (the other handle behind the drivers door), and open the boot past the rear of the top.

Fold top down into boot and close.

It's located under the car on the exhaust pipe,probably has carbon build up on it. You can buy an o2 sensor tool from auto parts store

Its even hard to answer...they are simply completely different cars.

The SL class is basically a sports car..2 seater configuration...performance minded, originally styled as convertible (although frequently having a hard top too).

The CL is originally a 4 or 5 passenger sedan.

It would be a very complex process...as the car has fuel injection and no carburetor

My 380 SEL does have a carb, I just replaced it. Does anyone else have a suggestion, short of taking it to a dealer or mechanic?

I have a voice activated 1996 500SL cell phone that you power up by a switch on the handset located in the compartment between the seats. Of course mine is unusable now, but I have heard that Motorola is making some sort of adapter that may can convert the set. ?

See that big square button on the center console on the right side of the shift knob....that's what you pull towards you to release the hardtop from the car's body. Do not forget to unplug the rear window defogger cord right next to the left rear window...it pulls straight up.

Check to make sure the top is ready to be removed by gently lifting the top...make sure all four corners are loose.

MOST IMPORTANTLY....YOU NEED A FULL GROWN ADULT MALE TO ASSIST YOU. Once the top is detached from the hydraulic grabbers (I don't know what else to call them) Lift the roof straight up, making sure that the prongs sticking out from the bottom of the roof clear the car's body...at least 6 inches. Then, slowly ....the both of you walk towards the rear of the car until you completely clear the car...then set the hardtop on the ground until you figure out where you're going to store it.

Lastly....go for a spin with the top down....its great!

The best way is With a Mercedes tool. But you can make one with a laundry wire hanger. this is the best diagram that I can do' sorry.

On the vertical edge of the instrument cluster where it touches the leather molding about half inch from the bottom push in the small end with the hook between the gap and turn the handle 90 degrees this will cause the tip to contact back frame of the cluster then pull towards you (hard)

Mounted on top and inside the fuel tank.

I had a 1981 that did the same thing. It turned out to be the fuel pump relay located behind the glove box. Good luck!

Well, I assume you've got a grey market car since MB didn't import that model into the US, and most euro cars were fitted with A/C in the US. I'm not sure which A/C system you might have. I assume by your question, that you're looking to re-charge your system. There are two pipes coming out of the compressor. Rule of thumb, the fatter of the two pipes is usually the low side...another rule of thumb...its usually the one that is more accessible...usually on the top. If you haven't used the system for a while...you should check the clutch at the front of the A/C unit. Check the belts. Check the cyclops on the dryer when you have the A/C turned on and see what's going on there. And, depending the last time this unit was serviced, you should check with MB about the type of freone you can use. You might also need to have it flushed and oiled. If you plan on using the A/C this summer, it needs to be right...and an A/C service at the dealer might be worth it. If its a regular service, it should be inexpensive...its only if and when they find any problems with the system, that it could cost you some money. Hope this helps.

The size of a 450 sl engine is 4.5 liters the size of a 500 sl is 5.0 liters the size of a 560 sl is...?

Remove the 4 bolts that hold the radiator grill, pull the top forward slightly and bang the bottom back toward the car with your hand and it will unclip from the bumper.

i have the same car when the warrning ligths come on the car will start when they dont the car will not start the probem is ignition swicth and it is hard to take out the swicth good luck

I would take a few of the plugs out of the engine and check them for wear. You might not need to replace the plugs because of the efficiency of the electrical system. You might just need to clean your plugs and re-gap them. If you do need new plugs: go out and buy 16 brand new plugs for the car,, there are 2 plugs per cylinder. The parts store will have the info for the right size. Plugs in these cars should last a minimum of 25,000 miles. Get a proper plug socket and make sure your socket slides all the way down so you don't break the ceramic insulators. I like to rub a very very small amount of an anti-seize grease on the bottom of the plug's threads...it helps when you need to remove the plugs later. Always hand screw the plugs in as far as you can before using the socket on them. Again, spark plugs are fragile and break easily. If you're asking this question, I assume you're a newbie at this. Remove a plug wire at a time so not to cross wires...which is hard to do, but not impossible. And don't man handle the plug wires...they're silicone and can break easily, which will make your car idle like a tractor. And lastly, make sure the car is cold, otherwise you'll sear your hands.

or just go to a mech and have him figure it out. simple.

Park the vehicle on a level surface. Drain the oil and replace the filter with a new one. Pour in 4.5 quarts of the correct weight oil. Start the engine and let it run for 1 minute. Shut down and wait 30 minutes. Check the oil level and add as necessary to reach the full mark on the dipstick. You now know the capacity.

On your radio push the SVC button just below the CD button. You will see an option for time/date, select that and change the time accordingly. After you've changed the time wait a few minutes and the digital clock time will change as well.

Changing the top on this (and all of what are the chassis 107 models, regardless of the engine number (280, 250, 380, 560, etc) assigned to that year is a straightforward process, like most all tops.

This one is a particularly tricky fit and has some difficult parts to deal with. And it becomes increasingly more difficult with the less expensive replacement you buy.

In other words, if you have to ask, you can't do it.

The labor, without the replacement top itself is commonly $800-1200.
