What do teachers use spreadsheets for?
A teacher may use a spreadsheet for several different reasons;
1)Commonly spreadsheets are used to hold the grades from examinations in percentage form. By holding the results in a spreadsheet the teacher can calculate the percentages gained by their pupils in different areas of a test. This information could be used to inform the next terms teaching, with the teacher revisiting topics which were commonly misunderstood.
2)Spreadsheets can also be helpful in tracking a student's progress as terms and year progress. This information is useful if the student's personal circumstances change and the teacher wants to apply for special circumstances to be taken into consideration in formal exams.
3) A teacher may use a spreadsheet to calculate the overall grade for a unit of work, where several exams and coursework go to calculating the overall grade.
4) Spreadsheets are powerful ways to organize data because they are so simple. They are the most basic "database" format. With intersecting columns and rows you can sort information in an infinite number of ways.

How to import multiple Microsoft Excel spreadsheets into Microsoft Access 2003?
If it is an appropriate type of spreadsheet and you lay it out properly, like having headings for the field names and the data correctly in the rows and columns, then it can be imported into Access. You do not need to import things like totals, just the raw data. Even data generated by formulas can be generated in Access through queries mainly, or formulas in forms, so they don't need to be imported either. If you do import them, they can then be removed and replaced with calculated fields.
You can try importing it directly in Access but you can save it as a CSV file first, which is in the list of Save As options in Excel. It is a text file with data in each cell separated by commas, and each new row on a new line. Then you can take the import option from within Access and your data can be saved as a table in Access. You will be able to choose what fields you want and what ones you don't, and so leave out the ones that contain formulas. You can use the field headings from the first row or decide on your own and also choose a primary key.
I've seen it done before using, iirc, Index with Row and Column offsets nested within.
