I'm not sure what you mean. But if you mean that you want to format a hard drive or partion which is not a system file disk/partion. Then it's really easy to do. Start My Computer, right click on the hard drive/partion which you want to format and choose format, then choose file system which you prefer to format, and press ok/start.

Even in the early days when Linux first came out, it was often commented upon how much faster it was than traditional Unix systems. For many tasks, Linux simply performs better. What are the pros and cons of buying a mac book pro?

Pros:

- The iMac, as are most Macintosh computers, have a few wires to deal with unlike PCs.

- You have the entire computer in one object.

- If you want to work with graphics or websites, iMacs usually handle programs such as Photoshop better than a PC.

- You don't need to install a bunch of drivers each time you have to format -- the Mac OS CDs usually have everything you need.

- You don't have to worry about viruses or spyware nearly as much.

Cons:

- Most games are not compatible with iMacs, let alone any other Mac product. Thus, with Apple's Boot Camp, this has been proved untrue.

- They're considered real expensive to get to the average consumer since most macs are made for professional uses, such as graphic design.

What is the different between audio streaming and audio downloading?

Streaming audio is usally a sound file, typically a mp3 file, that is linked to a button which allows you to listen to the audio inside your browser.

Sometimes the producer will also provide a link to the audio file so you can download and listen to it offline or add to your mp3 player like an ipod.

You can produce your own streaming audio files using software readily available on the Internet such as MP3 Sound Stream. http://mp3soundstream.com

You can also add streaming audio using blogging plugins and other similar systems.

There are basically two types of streaming audio.

What is the purpose of the navigation pane?

A pane or panel is typically something that runs down the side of a window, typically the left side.

The "Navigation Pane" found in Windows Explorer displays a hierarchical tree view of the subfolders in the selected folder, if any, and the + and - buttons alongside the items in the tree can be clicked to show the contents of other folders.

Such a pane may be found in other applications, although I do not know of any that do so.

How do you know which bit version Windows XP is?

If you are running one of these Windows XP version - XP Home, XP Pro, XP Media Center or XP Tablet PC Edition version 2002 (or Media Center 2004) you have a 32bit version.

At present the 64bit Editions of Windows are packaged with 64 Bit computers so they have the name '64-Bit Edition' or 'x64 Professional' rather than just XP Home or XP Pro.

If you don't know what XP version you're running, right-click "My Computer" and select "Properties". On the "General" tab you'll see SYSTEM: and your version will be shown.

How do you create password in hard drive?

You need to go to your System BIOS. When you boot up your computer, you will have to press Alt-F2 or something similar. This depends on your computer model. In the BIOS, there should be a section called "Security" or "Passwords" or something of that nature. There should be an option to ask for a "Password on Boot". The default should be all zeroes. You can put in a password which should force the user to enter a password before the operating system even boots up. DO NOT forget this password, otherwise you will be permanently locked out of that hard drive. You can obtain the master password from the manufacturer if you were the original purchaser.

How do you backup?

Basically, you have many ways to backup your data... but all are not equal.

If your backup strategy is 'copy my files to a CD or a USB key once a month, and leave the CD next to the laptop', this probably isn't a great backup strategy - the time between backups is too long, and if there's a fire, you lose the data, AND the backup.

A better backup strategy is 'once per day copy my files to an external hard drive, and then take it to work. The next day, use another hard drive, and keep swapping them, with one hard drive always at home, and the other at work'. It's a good system, you'll always have a copy of your data onsite (at home) and another copy offsite (at work). The only problem with this way of backing up is that you have to remember to do the copying every day. Plus, you only keep one 'old' version of your files, and it'll be erased after 1 day.

Automated, cloud backup software is a much better way of backing your data up. Cloud software will automatically backup the data you specify, within a specified time frame, directly to the secure servers. Every time you modify a file, a new version of it will be stored in your backup - the old versions are kept for as long as you specify.

What is the difference between a single mouse click and a double mouse click?

A single click on an Apple Macintosh computer consists of one up and down motion on a mouse. A double-click would consist of two consecutive single clicks with no or very little time between the clicks. (It is important to note that the speed of the "double-click" can be adjusted as long as a mouse is connected to the computer.)

Also, usually, a single click selects an object or icon. A double-click usually opens or launches an application or document. (This is the case when your computer is in the "Finder." You can tell you are in the "Finder" when you see the word next to the Apple icon in top left corner of your monitor/screen.)

All this can become confusing due to some "directions" telling the user to "click and hold." The "click and hold" means to move the mouse arrow over the object, click down on the mouse but do not finish "clicking" by letting go for the up motion of a full click, it is essentially a "half-click." This action usually causes the mouse arrow to "grab" or "hold" the object or icon.

Would you import users from csv files into Excel?

Excel has no relation to Active Directory. If you have permission to import, you should be able to import directly from a CSV file, and not have to import into Excel first. Check with your systems or network administrator to see how your specific network Active Directory is configured.

Why would you want to retension a backup tape?

an overstreched tape may record fine, but it may not restore or read very well. As a rule, it is a good idea to retension a tape before using it. After prolonged use of a tape at the beginning the tape will become tight on one end and loose on the other. Retensioning will correct this problem. Also like audio tapes (music) the more you use them the more they stretch, this can ruin the preformat on the tape.
