How do you figure out what year your DWM Luger was made?

if you look down on pistol you should note a date over the chamber area. that is when it was made......................

OP:

If that is the case, then my pistol was made in 1601; around 300 years before the patent was awarded.

Then there is the 'f' at the end of that, which might denote June, it being the sixth month of the year.

I really don't think that is the answer, but thanks for your time.

The date of manf. for (most) lugers is directly over the chamber. Some exceptions as with letters 'byf' or letter 'G' or 'K'. I would greatly appreciate SEEING a 1601 over the chamber area of a luger . A luger COULD have the serial # 1601f, but that would be on the side or bottom of barrel. Are your sure it's a luger ????? A picture will tell.

OP:

The number and letter series is on the bottom of the barrel, under a crown with an "N" over it. I have checked over and over again and I cannot see anything marked over the chamber.

Yes, I am sure that it is a luger. I'll get a picture up when I can find time.

OP:

Did some more research and found out that I have a civilian luger. It has GERMANY stamped on the side IAW the import laws the U.S. had back in the early half of the 20th century. No book or person I have talked to can still point me in the right direction for it's date of manufacter, however Lugers like mine were made and imported in large quantities circa 1930 to help Germany pay off their World War 1 debt. Everything I have found concerning Lugers in any detail are concerned with the 9mm models, mine being a 7.65mm.

Also the marking below the 1601 is not an "f", but rather a "p" in the old German script.

I guess it is the best I can get right now.

Thanks for all your help internet.

What is Colt Revolver approximately 1865 worth?

The value will depend on several factors, beginning with the actual model. Then the condition is very important. Even a broken gun may be worth a few hundred if it still looks good (it is unlikely that anyone is going to actually shoot it). If it is in pristine condition it can bring a few thousand and if you can document its use in the Civil War (would have to be a bit older than 1865), add another thousand or so. If you can document use by the Confederacy, it could go into the tens of thousands.

What is value of World War 2 German luger?

Amazing as it may seem, the holster for the German Luger can be worth as much as $300.

Whats the best metal for a sword?

When you are looking to buy a sword the best thing you want to do at first is think what you want to use it for. The reason you want to do that is so that you don't buy the wrong type of sword for what you really want. Believe me, I made that mistake and broke my first sword. So to make sure you don't make the same mistake I did, I am going to give you some advice.

First off I will tell you what each metal is for:

STAINLESS STEEL: Basically, the only reason you ever want to buy a stainless steel sword is either if you want it to break in half and cut you really bad, or if you are smart and know that it is ONLY for display and to look pretty for decoration.

CARBON STEEL: This metal is good for a nice edge that will stay on your sword and is what most would call, "a functional sword" and in fact, it is functional so if you are on a budget it is definitely the way to go.

FLEXIBLE STEEL: This metal is extremely good quality and will hold out a long time and even keep an edge fairly long. The only problem, IT IS EXPENSIVE! If you really want to go all out this is really the way to go because it is very flexible henceforth flexible steel.

I hope I made your choice easier and good luck! Buying a sword can be a hard choice so try to get more references also! If you are looking for swords try all around to find the sword you want also think about the kind of sword you want before you buy it! For instance, I prefer Japanese style katanas. Good luck! =)

I don't know if it is the best for making swords, but in a sword like a katana, I usually hear of Tamahagane being used. I was actually looking at other questions, like the strongest metal for a sword, and people say Tungsten since it's the strongest metal known, from what I've been reading, might be lies though.

What is the value of a 9mm Fabrique Nationale D'Armes deGuerre pistol from WW11?

Depends on condition, type of sights, whether it was a pre-war Commercial Model that was capured, etc. If the pistol has waffenampt markings, values could be as low as $200, or as high as $1700, but $400-$700 would be more typical.

What is the value of World War 2 military medal?

Please look again. These coins were made of zinc-plated steel. The mint has never made any cents out of silver. For one thing, silver cents would be worth more than dimes!!

Unless your coins are in uncirculated condition and have not been cleaned or replated, they're worth about 25-30¢ in average condition.

What is the value of a M1913 Patton saber?

The Model 1913 Cavalry Saber (aka Patton Sword) were made at the Springfield Armory from 1913 to 1918 and by L.F. & C. in 1918 and 1919. The one you refer to was made at Springfield was obviously made at Springfield. In total, the Springfield Armory made over 35,000 M-1913 Cavalry Sabers, of which over 25,000 were made in 1914, carrying both 1913 and 1914 dates. In 1918, Springfield was authorized to make 5,000 sabers, as none had been authorized in 1916 or 1917 (examples are know with these dates). Currently, the lowest recorded serial number known with the 1918 date is 32,822 and the highest is 37,610. It is estimated that half or more of M-1913 sabers were made into fighting knives for WWII. Since condition is everything, a truly excellent example of a 1918 date saber, with a scabbard in equal condition is $650 to $950, as excellence is in the eye of the beholder.

If a cannonball is shot from a longer barrel cannon rather than a shorter barrel cannon it willl have a?

Longer (effective) range.

What is the value of a real World War 2 victory medal?

You will need to consult the catalogs. Most libraries will have a copy of Scott's Postage Stamp Catalog of the World. First of all, you have to identify the specific stamp or card. That in itself can be a daunting task, but most of the catalogs are well illustrated with lots of information. Once you know what item you have, the catalog will provide a set of prices that can be used to estimate value.
