Drag racing is all over Australia.

If you begin to race, then this will become your 'home track'. Have a look on the ANDRA (Australian National Drag Racing Association Inc.) website (see the related link below) then scroll way down to the bottom and under competitors and click on the tracks link and then click on what ever the part of Australia is relevant to you, if you don't have anyone to ask. Why are NHRA races 1000 feet?

NHRA figured the speeds were high enough, coupled with the short run-outs, or outdated tracks, NHRA figured it would give the cars more distance to slow down, this was implemented after the death of Scott Kalitta.

Former champ Kalitta lost in qualifying accident Funny Car driver Scott Kalitta, 46, died June 21 from multiple injuries suffered after his car went out of control and crashed in a high-speed racing accident at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park during the fourth and final round of qualifying at the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals.

What transmission is better the thm350 powerglide thm400 or the 700r4 its going to be used in a el camino for drag racing?

out of the two, you'll find that the thm400 is a better transmission all around. it was a more heavy duty built transmission than the thm350, and it does last a lot longer. we had built up a 77 gmc sierra classic with a 350 4 bolt, and it was pushing near 500 hp. tore apart 3 thm350's before going that little bit bigger, never had a problem with the used 400 we bought. just from my experience, the 400 is a better transmission, a little harder to come by, but much worth looking

How to determine Drag Racing winner?

There are two types of drag racing. First off there is what is called a pro start, or pro tree. Those classes are run heads up, start out even, and barring a red light, starting too soon, or before the green light comes on, the first to the finish line wins. The other type is called bracket racing. You make a couple of passes to see what your car runs, et wise. Then, you put a time on the windshield. It is a time that is close to what you run. Not too much faster, because that time determines how much of a headstart either car gets. But, not too slow, because if you go faster than that time, you break out, and are disqualified. Consistency is the key to bracket racing.
