According to Therese Crawford, member of the United States Professional Volleyball League in May, 2000: " During the initial phase of the USPV, each athlete receives a salary of $30,000 with health benefits. Later, with the launch of six to ten teams in January 2001, the salaries will range from $20,000 to $50,000 per playing season. " That would work out to about $1600 to $4100 a month.

The Americans won one medal at the 2004 Games in Athens and that was the gold in women's beach volleyball. Brazil won gold in men's beach volleyball, China won gold in regular women's volleyball and Brazil won gold in regular men's volleyball.

At the 1988 Olympics, Steffi Graf of West Germany won gold over Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina in the women's singles competition.

Some common faults are:

Foot faults: Stepping on or over the line when serving.

Touching the net, when hitting, blocking, or just moving.

Lifts: Using your flat hand to push the ball upwards is not allowed

Double hits: Players cannot touch the ball again after they pass it, unless another player touches it.

4 hits: Only 3 players are allowed to touch the ball when it is on their side of the court.

Back row attack: If a player is in the back row (5, 6, or 1 position), they are not allowed to jump and touch a ball in front of the 10-foot line.

Any of these faults would result in a side-out.

No the libero does not serve. The libero is a specialist defensive player that comes onto the court to only play back court.

The tallest I've seen was around 6'8, though most are around 6'1 or so.
