How do you know which is which?
If you're being promised lots of money for easy work with no actual skills required, it's probably at least intentionally misleading and you will not wind up making anywhere near as much as is promised, if it's not an outright scam that will result in you LOSING money.
If the "online investment" job involves cashing checks for and then wiring (a portion of) the money to someone else, then it's almost certainly a scam and you WILL lose money. The checks will be just good enough ... and drawn on a bank that's distant enough ... that your bank will release the funds to you in accordance with their policy before the check actually clears the bank it's drawn on; when it inevitably bounces, your bank will then issue a chargeback against your account, and if you've already wired most of that money to someone else, it will just be gone.
If you need actual qualifications ... like a college degree and a background in statistical analysis or something ... and the compensation seems to be in line with other jobs for people with those same qualifications, then it's more likely to be legit.

One way is to install a vmware virtual appliance. Write a script to pull an access number from a list to dial your isp. Then use a script to search your link in post. Go to your site and use an ad clicker. Once you have it going, leave in automatic mode. You can make money by doing over an over. It is difficult but not impossible. Or if you are lazy join a click ring that does not go directly to your site.

The ad says you can make $200 - $1,000 a day just by following simple instructions, with a potential to make up to $10,000 a month and for the next 2 hours, I can join and save over 50% off -- the ad says "Normally registration is $79.99 but due to the current demand for workers I've lowered the registration to only $39. Offer valid until August 30, 2008." Any time you are asked to pay a fee for a job, with unrealistic earning potential, and you say to yourself, "Sounds unbelievable, it's too good to be true," then it is. You decide. Rebate processing programs are not jobs -- you need to look at them more like work-at-home programs or a home business. Or, more appropriately, rebate processing is actually affiliate work.
Companies are not hiring you to work for them and then paying you by the piece. Instead, they teach you how to find products that you can sell online and earn a commission from the sale. Often these are products that are found on affiliate sites like Clickbank or CommissionJunction.com.
They then teach you how to write ads to sell these products. Included in your ad is an offer for a "rebate" when someone buys the product.
