My son was complaining of ankle pain. We bought Oscon on the internet, have been taking it for about two weeks, and he says it is weird to not feel hurt when he comes off the soccer field. Is it working? If my son isn't in pain, I would say it is. Of course he will finish the month's worth and then we'll wait a month and see how he feels.

This is a terrible situation to be in and I feel for you. Being dismissed from PM is not always the fault of the patient. Lots of times circumstances conspire against a patient and they cause the patient to look bad. Whether it's your fault or not, you must now gain the trust of another Pain Management doctor. I believe the only way to do this is to get a referral from a doctor. Unfortunately, in situations like these your word may not be good enough. So you may need someone trustworthy to speak for you. If you have a doctor that can do this for you, ask them to plead your case with the PM doc and see what happens. Do you have a GP? If so, would he/she be willing to treat you for a period of time so you can show compliance long enough to repair any trust issues? Then he/she could go to bat for you with another PM doc.

No because your pushing your muscles foward and basically your gonna hurt yourself cause the muscles are hard and that equals more pain

Take it from someone who has them.

It could hurt for some people, they stick a separator in between two pushing teeth to make a space for your braces. If your mouth is over crowded, and has absolutely NO gaps, (like mine) then it could hurt because there is not enough room for a gap. If your teeth have gaps but your molars are pushing, I guess it wouldn't hurt MORE, because they can adjust easily, but it will hurt since your teeth aren't used to the position that the spacer will cause.

When you have had a broken bone the alignment of the joints nearby can be affected. Even though the bone may have healed the nearby joints could have been thrown slightly out of place which can lead to damage in the cartilage, which in turn will lead to pain. there is no cure for this problem at present. however it would be wise to seek treatment with your doctor in order to find out what would be the best way to deal with the problem to reduce pain and further damage.

Acute pain is pain which isn't on a 24/7 basis, or isn't expected to last for long periods (e.g., months and years, or until you die). Most acute pain is treated with non-opiate therapy if possible, and with acute pain meds (typically lower level opiates like Vicodin) that only last a few hours.

Long term Chronic pain is typically managed with much stronger opiates like Fentanyl patches, which are extremely effective. However, patients usually don't choose patch therapy unless it's a last resort, and the pain is severe and chronic enough that acute meds just aren't cutting it. The amount of acute meds (even Percocet, Morphine, Demerol, etc.) that only last a few hours just don't offer the type of effective pain control that Fentanyl patches do - 48-72 hours.

They are a double-edged sword, and not to be considered lightly. While they will control your pain very well, you can expect much more intense side effects (mood swings, etc.) and a trip to your pain doctor every month to get new prescriptions. Such a choice should only be made when it's a choice between daily agony or effective pain relief, and most people who deal with extreme chronic pain on a regular basis know when they're at that point.
