Was the treatment of Japanese Americans in the internment camps reasonable?

That is a question that can only be answered as a personal opinion rather than a definitive response. IMO, it was indeed wrong as the vast majority of the internees were American citizens who were guilty of absolutely nothing. They were also forced to forfeit their businesses and land holdings, albeit later a pathetic show of reparation was made by the U.S. government. Many of the internees later renounced their American citizenship in protest. There were other nationalities interred as well such as German and Italian, but not in the same large number. Canada also had internment camps established in British Columbia for persons of Japanese origin.

Where is Pearl Harbour?

A US naval base that was attacked by Japan in December of 1941.

Strictly speaking, "Pearl Harbor" is the name of the body of water (technically, a lagoon/harbor of the ocean) in the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The city of Honolulu is built on its shores, and the United States has operated a major naval base there since 1887.

Historically speaking, the Attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise Japanese aerial assault on 7 Dec 1941 on the U.S. Naval Base, especially the ships of the Pacific Fleet, as well as the nearby U.S. Army airfields of Wheeler and Hickham (plus others on Oahu), with the goal of crippling the U.S. naval presence in the Pacific.

What events lead to the bombing of Pearl Harbor?

Japan attacked Pearl Harbor because the U.S. enacted an embargo on all oil supplies to Japan. The reason for the embargo is because Japan was invading China. The U.S. embargo cut-off 90% of Japans resources, which crippled their economy and most importantly military. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor for another important reason. Pearl Harbor was the home of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Japan did not want the U.S. in the war because the U.S. at this time had the greatest Naval force. They concluded that if the Pacific Fleet was destroyed, Americans would feel de-moralized and not want to fight. Additionally, an attack on the Pacific Fleet would take the U.S. six months to recuperate and rebuild the Navy.

How many US aircraft carriers were sunk during pearl harbor?

They were at sea. Mainly they were ferrying aircraft to a different base, I don't know which one. They also conducted assorted training exercises while they were out. It was just plain lucky that those aircraft were scheduled to be shipped at that time. If the carriers had been at Pearl we would have been in a world of hurt. Michael Montagne The 3 Aircraft Carriers that where suppossed to be in Pearl Harbour where all at sea carrying new planes to the American Bases on Midway and the west Coast of U.S. I sincerly thing that if the 3 aircraft carriers scheduled to stay in Pearl Harbor they would have been sunk or damaged during the whole war, but that dont mean the United States would have lost the War, there where many other cariers in good condition, and dozens being pruduced silently in the ports. The Saratoga was in port at San Diego, California, the Enterprise was 200 miles west of Pearl Harbor returning from Midway where it had delivered aircraft, and the Lexington was 460 miles east of Midway on its way there to deliver aircraft.

What battle ship was the first to be attacked in Pearl Harbor?

AnswerThe answer is the old battleship USS Utah. Answer(additional material The Japanese invasion of Pearl Harbor, a naval base in the Hawaiian Islands, was a rapid, airborne attack that was over within ninety minutes. It is difficult to ascertain, due to the confusion of events, which United States ship sank to its grave first, but among the first three would almost certainly be the USS Oklahoma, the USS Utah, and the USS Arizona. The most major damage seems to have occurred to the USS Arizona, and it is likely that she may have sunk first. There is currently a memorial for her, in Hawaii.

Was Hiroshima after Pearl harbor attack?

No. The attack led by Jimmy Doolittle and his Raiders was the response to the attack on Pearl Harbor. It happened two months after the raid on Pearl.

Hiroshima was simple part of one nuclear attack intended to end the war. Since it did not bring on an immediate Japanese surrender the second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki.

We had to do something drastic. If we invaded the home islands of Japan there would have been a great lose of American troops during those battles. Japanese Code of Honor does not allow for surrender, but a fight to the death. The first bomb caused over 100,000 deaths and I don;t recall the number for the second bomb, but it was enough to force a surrender. Good thing too, cause we only had the two bombs and it would have taken moths to build more. Funny thing is, both the Japanese and the Russians thought we had more of them.

Modelers are usually good at doing their research. The links include discussion of the color of the Arizona. It seems that it had recently been re-painted and it was dark 5-D gray or a very dark blue. In 2006, the visitor center revealed a new model of the Arizona(see link).
