There is no such thing as a pediatologist. Assuming that you mean a perinatologist, this is a specialist doctor who takes care of a woman and her fetus in high-risk pregnancy cases.

A pediatrician is important because the person is specialized to watch a child's growth and any problems that may persist to cure at the right time. They will deal with medical attention for infants, adolescents and children.

Generally 4 years and that is after receiving a Bachelor's degree (which is another 4-5 years). After Med school (and after you pass your "boards" - long difficult tests) you are a "Doctor" but that doesn't mean that you practice anywhere. You can't get a real job without experience. So you get a (low paying) job as a Resident at a hospital for 1 to, sometimes as much as, 7 years. This is the typical scenario. A nurse must be able to move around quickly, have a good hearing to auscultate heart rates, breath sounds etc. and good sensation in your hands since we palpate for pulses, temperature, turgor etc in patients. You need a good grasp on critical thinking and being able to think quickly under stressful situations. Culinary school courses will give you the proper education and training to become a "chef". Generally, it is 2+ years for an Associate for Applied Science Degree, in that most can lead you into a career. You can continue for a bachelors which may take another 2+ years.

Most (culinary) colleges will require a high school diploma to enter their college, some may not. You may need to take a test to enter, or an Ability-to-Benefit (A.T.B.) test which is a basic test to show to the college that you are going to benefit from their education.
