Periods Exclamation Points and Question Marks

a couple reasons.

for starters, it is not a real punctuation mark. some advertising guy just made it up in the early 60s. there are rules and regulations to the English language and you just cant make up a new punctuation mark. if you do, it will be short lived as is seen with the interobang.

it is a redundant sign as the same thing can be expressed with two signs that already exist.also, it is hard to make out in small sizes like 6 or 8pt font.

another reason is that the majority of the question marks out there will not allow for an exclamation point to simply be put over top of it. the symbol needs to be treated as its own design and that would mean that the interobang question mark will in most cases look extremely different than the regular question mark in a font family.

some of the original typefaces were painstakingly designed during the 16, 17, 18, and 19th centuries and are still used today with much enthusiasm. some people devoted their entire lives to type design and these were the people who set the foundation for type as we know it. to go back on their designs and add this bogus punctuation mark to their font would cause a lot of them to spin in their grave.

basically its a nifty idea but not very logical in the way of typography.

Click "Start" then Go to the "Control Panel" and click on "regional and language options" select the language ( I assume it would be french) and click apply. Then click okay, and there will be a language bar on the bottom right hand side of the screen. go back into PowerPoint and select the language from the drop down language select, and certain keys on the keyboard will have switched around!
