What are two human activities by which carbon can enter the atmosphere as CO2 during the carbon cycle?

  1. Driving vehicles that run on fossil fuel. Burning oil releases carbon dioxide.
  2. Using electricity. Most electricity is now generated by burning fossil fuels. This burning emits carbon dioxide.

What gauge of wire must be used in homemade wind turbine?

You would need to know the maximum watts and voltage you could generate then go from there. In home use you use 12 gauge wire at 120 volts to handle up to 20 amps. 14 gauge for 15 amps. If you're operating in 12 volt it's a different ballgame.

How expensive is it to decommission a wind farm?

Considerably safer and cheaper then decommissioning a fossil fuel, nuclear or hydroelectric powerplant

relatively expensive

How does the untreated rubbish cause pollution?

Untreated rubbish cause chemical reactions between the materials contained within the pile. The resulting chemicals seep into the underground water system and eventually ends up in rivers and the ocean.

These chemicals can make their way into drinking water systems and fresh water systems, which affects farm crops as this water is used for irrigation.

How can acid rain affect biodiversity in a pond?

Together, biological organisms and the environment in which they live are called an ecosystem. The plants and animals living within an ecosystem are highly interdependent. For example, frogs may tolerate relatively high levels of acidity, but if they eat insects like the mayfly, they may be affected because part of their food supply may disappear. Because of the connections between the many fish, plants, and other organisms living in an aquatic ecosystem, changes in pH or aluminum levels affect biodiversity as well. Thus, as lakes and streams become more acidic, the numbers and types of fish and other aquatic plants and animals that live in these waters decrease.

Why we have to use lead free solder?

ANSWER:The use of lead has been reduced over the years because exposure to lead can cause health and reproductive problems. The reason is lead is a heavy metal and once introduced into your body, it is almost impossible to remove it again. Lead has been removed from most paints produced in the US, although some foreign countries do not feel this is in their best interests to use lead free paints and products to the detriment of their citizens. The US has also removed lead from the gasoline we use. See the related link for more information on lead poisioning.

What are the dfferent environmental pollutants?

Here are some different environmental pollutants:

~ Ozone (atleast too much of it)

~ too much concentrated Oxegen

~ gases (like the smokey stuff cars leave behind)

~ Oil spills(we have a lot lately...)

Hope it will be easier for you to get answers such as these. I don't know all the air pollutants, but I can offer you this.I am clueless on how you can manage pollutants; you'll have to ask a different question to get that answered.

Ozone, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide.

Smoking sends off the smoke, and many diseases are caused by any smoking at all.

What is the average amount of car gas that Americans consume in a week?

If the average tank of gas takes 20 gallons, and the average fuel efficiency is 18 miles per gallon (official statistics say about 22 mpg, but 5-6 mpg less if you consider buses and trucks and factor in real life traffic jams in major cities), then the average person can drive about 360 miles on one tank of gas.

If the average American commutes 50 miles a day to and from work 5 days a week they travel 250 miles. Throw in another 110 miles per week for miscellaneous travel and the average American consumer would be filling up about once a week, or using about 20 gallons per week, or 80 gallons a month, or 960 gallons a year. The official numbers are actually less than this.

I am just using sample numbers taken at random. None of this has been researched, and your numbers can come in significantly higher or lower.

Official statistics from 2000 - 10 years ago I know, but neither has significant legislation made an impact, nor have significant technological breakthroughs seeped into the hard heads of the broke American auto makers - say the average passenger car travels about 12,500 miles per year, at an average MPG of 22 MPG. Using these numbers, the average American consumer would buy about 580 gallons of gas a year, or about 50 gallons a month, or 12.5 gallons a week, which is close to official estimates. These numbers seem too low to me which is why I used a different metric.

If I split the difference between my arbitrary estimate and official estimates for passenger cars (not buses, light trucks or trucks, which is why I made my numbers higher as these require more fuel, as does bumper to bumper traffic), the average American buys about 16 gallons of gas a week, or about 65 gallons a month, or almost 800 gallons a year - not a month - close to official estimates when including buses and trucks.

Why all countries are not trying to keep the Earth clean and what can we do to encourage them to do something about it?

there are two reasons: money and carelessness. you cant expect third world countries like mexico, who are dependent on the industries, to cut back on emissions. Money is always an issue, and you need it to afford energy saving appliances like flourescent lights; and you need enough of money to be able to afford cutting back on emissions. Factories mean jobs, and you need jobs to keep the economy, and ultimately the country, afloat. However, there are always money-greedy countries like the U.S that wants to take shortcuts and find lazier ways of saving the environment. For some apperent reason, they believe cutting back on emissions is too costly and not effective enough. Even though they are the world's biggest polluter (by a long shot, in fact). So there really is no way to motivate people to save the environment, other than raising awareness or boycotting paper towel companies (or something like that).

Why would gas come out of the exhaust pipe?

Don't want to doubt you, but I'd definitely check to make sure it feels lightly oily or even soak some a few drops into a paper towel and see if it ignited (careful of course). Assume it's not running rough / missing occasional firings, right?

This can also be caused by a defective fuel pressure regulator. (Ford Ranger)
