Check your relay. Take a test light to see if you have power going to the 86 pole when the headlight switch is turned off. If you do, your switch is stuck in the on position. If you don't, your relay is stuck closed.

The Pontiac Vide is just a rebadged Toyota Matrix. They may fit your focus but not likely. Measure the spacing and you will then know.

Being a transverse engine, front wheel drive car, it'll have a transaxle, rather than a differential separated from the transmission by the driveshaft. If I remember correctly, the crankshaft output of the engine and bell housing is on the left side of that vehicle, so you'd want to follow the input shaft around towards the right side... you'll see the main transmission housing, and the VSS will be on the right side of it. It should be directly atop the transmission output, and connected to two wires with a weatherpack terminal.

Three things to check for if water is collecting on the drivers side. There are supposed to be rubber closures on the holes underneath the floor carpet, and one may be damaged or not properly in place. The second most likely is the weather stripping along the door, as it may be pinched and not preventing rain entering. The least likely, but third thing to check is at the firewall where the wiring harness enters the passenger compartment.

Yes they are, but the two cables that are attached to the actuator are not. You will have to switch those out (very easy) as the Toyota cables are about 2" longer than the Vibe's. Toyota also used the same actuator in the 2009 Corolla, but be careful regarding the front right (passenger) because it is not interchangeable as the Corolla does not have a keyed entry on that door (and the Vibe and Matrix do). Just paid $100 for a used 2009 Corolla front left actuator at a junk yard and it works great in my 2009 Vibe. Hooray! Saved $160 on the part!

To replace the alternator on a 2004 Pontiac Vibe, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Remove any necessary components like the air intake duct for better access. Smell may be (heated) mouse dropping and urine. We found a mouse nest in the (and partially made from the) air filter. Open the air filter and check, mouse was still hiding down the air hose. This search was done in an attempt to find that sour smell.

Look under the rear of the car for drive axels similar to the ones used on the front (or you could look for the body plate on the rear hatch area that would indicate "AWD" if the option was factory installed ;) )

Shot in the dark here, but double check that you tightened the gas cap anough, a lady from my work had a similar issue, she took it to a mechanic and after running a diagnostics, they turned the cap over one more turn and charged her $80 for the diagnostics.

worse case is that the sensor for that is funky an needs replacing

there is a cool trick for drum brakes, first, make sure the parking brake is not applied and make sure to chock the car from rolling!!!!then disconnect the negative battery cable. then after you pull the wheel off if you look at the drum near the lug studs you should see 2 holes that look as though they are threaded. they are usually diagnal from eachother. find a couple of bolts in the garage or parts store that wil fit the threads in the drum holes, ( the bolts must be the correct thread or you will ruin the threads on the drum) make sure the bolts you get are at least a couple of inches long, next you will thread the bolts into the holes simultainiously ( they will not thread in far) then take a ratchet or wrench and slowly turn the bolt clockwise 3 to 4 turns, then go to the other bolt and do the same, kepp doing this and you will see that the drum is being pulled away from the pads, then eventually you can just pull the drum off with your hands. after it is removed simply reverse the bolts that you put in and you should be good to go. good luck

All Vibes have an electronic cooling fan. The most likely (without any better description than "hum when off") is the fan is running. this is normal until the engine coolant reaches its low end temp.

I just had to replace the fan motor in one. It shorted out.

They are above the cylinder. to find them fallow the distributor cap wires to the spark plugs There are no cap wires on the vibe, take the plastic cover off the top of engine. There are 4 coils in center of valve cover, remove them and the plugs are down in the holes where the coils came off.

I used the upholstery attachment on our Oreck carpet cleaner. I tried the foam type upholstery cleaner but it did not work well. The extraction method cleaned the black seats on my 04 really well.
