What countries had the most efficient military organizations in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries is largely a matter of opinion, and over a whole period of 200 years the quality of most countries' military organizations varied widely. But most historians would agree that on average France and Prussia stood out from the rest.

Frederick the Great of Prussia invited Voltaire to live at his court. Voltaire, who had been imprisoned and maltreated by the French government, was eager to accept Frederick's invitation to live at his palace.

Prussia has been inhabited for thousands of years. The ancient Romans wrote about a tribe called the Aesti who lived there around the time of Roman Emperor Augustus. It's believed that the Aesti were the Brusa (or Prusa) people, also known as the Old Prussians. They were non-Germanic (it's unclear exactly where they derive from) tribesmen who lived in the area.

In the 1200s, an army of German knights known as the Teutonic Order launched a crusade against the Old Prussians because they refused to convert to Catholicism. The crusade was mostly successful, and the Teutonic Knights conquered the area around the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. The Order then launched a less successful attack on Lithuania, which was also not Catholic; they were eventually decisively defeated by a combined Polish and Lithuanian army and their conquests ended.

In the early 1500s, the last grand master of the Knights converted to Lutheranism. He worked out a deal with the King of Poland to become the first Duke of Prussia. In 1525, the Duchy of Prussia was born and was comprised of the territory that the Teutonic Knights had controlled. In 1701, the Duchy became a Kingdom, as a reward for helping fight against France during the War of the Spanish Succession.

Prussia was an important part of the coalition which defeated Napoleon and occupied Paris in 1814. Prussia provided half the troops which won the Waterloo campaign in 1815, finally defeating Napoleon and once again occupting Paris. Prussia once more beat France in 1870, thus completing the unification of Germany; the German Empire was proclaimed from the Palace of Versailles. Finally, another German Empire under Hitler defeated France in 1940. That seems to make 4 times, though both Prussia and Germany had allies to help them each time.

The House of Hohenzollern was the Prussian Dynasty during the Age of Absolutism. This dynasty included Frederick the Great (Frederick II), as well as his grandfather Frederick I and his father Frederick William I.

In a word, no. Though Prussia did field small fleets from time to time they were essentially a land power with no naval might to speak of.

The allies of WW2 saw Prussia as one of the main reasons for why WW2 broke out.

In the middle of the 18th century, French nobles who commanded armies in the field led an unusually opulent lifestyle. When Prussian Frederick the Great faced the West he found himself up against the forces of an army led by the Prince of Soubise. This French general was known to live in a lavish manner and his army was not a disciplined one. Typical of French military officers, their camps were full of booty. When Frederick's cavalry conducted a raid on the French encampment they captured valets, theatrical actors, huge chests of perfumes and scented powders. In addition to this, there were huge numbers of dressing gowns, hair nets, sun shades, nightgowns and even parrots ( birds not cannon ).

Eastern Germany, Poland, Kaliningrad (Russian exclave), Czech Republic. But, since Prussia's boundaries have changed many times, not necessarily all of those countries at once.

Prussia invaded Austria for the first time when Frederick the Great, King of Prussia started the invasion of Silesia on Dec.16,1740.

The Prussian currency until 1874 was the Thaler (or Taler). Until 1821 it consisted of 24 Groschen of 12 Pfennig each (288 Pfenning = 1 Thaler). From 1821 in the Thaler was subdivided into 30 Groschen of 12 Pfenning each (360 Pfenning = 1 Thaler). Note that some parts of Prussia had different denominations, such as the Gulden, in a fixed relation to the Thaler.

Probably the most significant reasons that the German Empire was defeated was the entry of the United States in 1917, the effective destruction of the Germany's ally the Ottoman Empire, and resource exhaustion at home. The Treaty of Versailles further solidified Germany's weakened position and forced it to remain less powerful.
