The VIN/chassis number on a 1998 Renault Megane can be found at the following locations: Stamping: on the offside suspension turret under bonnet. (Looking from front of car towards the rear, it will be on the left hand side near the hinge) Plate: Driver's (offside) door piller at the base (between the driver and passenger door) Visible VIN: Stamped on the base of the windscreen on the nearside in two lines - please note if windscreen has been replaced this might be lost. If you call "a repair man" he won't be able to do it!

If you do not have the tyre monotoring system there is a lot of cost to get one fitted.

You will need ECU reprogramme, 4 sensors and progamming , wiring loom sender unit, and display panel on your dash, only a Renault garage could fit it at £80 an hour and parts cost of around £300 at least.

The starter motor is situated towards the back of the engine if your facing it.

Because the shaft(s) in the gearbox are still spinning and the reverse gear typically doesn't have synchromesh to equalise their speeds as it engages.

The shaft(s) are still spinning for one of three reasons:

a) the clutch friction disc has not fully released from either of it's mating surfaces

b) the oil in the gearbox is the wrong grade or quantity

c) you are trying to shift into reverse too soon after disengaging the clutch

Anti-sieze compount (e.g copper grease) on the input shaft splines may cure (a) if the clutch pressure plate isn't faulty and the clutch cable (or hydraulics if used) are correctly adjusted. (b) is unlikely unless the gearbox has been leaking or it's had it's oil changed shortly before the problem began.

5 litres is the amount of oil that scenic 1.9 dti gearbox hold.

To adjust the brightness of the display you should find a wheel control the same as the headlamp adjuster right next to the said adjuster. You will find it forward of your right knee to the right of the steering column on the dash.

Master cylinder reservoir is located on the bulkhead. If you mean where is it going. as the front brake pads wear down the master cylinder level drops slightly. A sudden drop in level indicates a leak somewhere in the system.

The 1.5dCi designation on a Renault Scenic stands for 1.5 litres / diesel / common rail / injection, meaning the vehicle has a 1.5 L common rail direct fuel injection diesel engine.

Get somebody to push on the bonnet whilst you are trying to pull lever. This should do the trick then lubricate all moving parts of the catch mechanism.

It will have to go to a garage with the correct equipment to have it reprogrammed, its not possible to do this at home.Hope this helps

as far as i can remember the battery is located underneath the drivers seat, the seat shoul tilt/move backwards to allow access, it has the usual Renault screw on terminals....robb

Depends on which model/year. Some batteries are under the bonnet/hood

£700 according to Renauilt Enfield. Ouch! Quoted replacement time is 3hrs.6 minutes.

to reset the FOB you get in the car, shut the doors. Then hold the cetral locking lock all button down until the doors lock and unlock. The imobilser light goes solid red. At this point you have 10 seconds to click the new unprogrammed FOB. the doors will unlock and lock. Job done

Ours does not have a spare (cos the extra 2 seats are under the boot cover) but a bottle of "gel" that should seal a small puncture for long enough to let you pump the tyre and get to a garage for a spare.

i think as with all vectras it is a n.o 45 torx/star bit on the sump hope this helps

because of the anti theft system. just lock and unlock the car and start it agian!

on my Renault scenic 1998 version it was at the front of the engine bay with a red cap but as for the 2003 version i dont have no idea hope this helps

The plastic tray is used by many car manufacturers to protect the lower half of the engine and engine compartment from road dirt and damaging stone impact. It is also used to reduce wind noise and improve air-flow under the vehicle. The easiest way to keep it in place is to use large cable -ties and thread them through the original bolt hole then through the hole in the tray. Pull the cable tie tightly and it will keep the undertray secure. Originally these trays are attached by bolts that screw in to threaded clips which attach to parts of the underbody. These threaded portions and the bolts often rust out and snap. Many auto-supply stores sell the threaded clips and a selection of bolts to fit. Caution. On the Scenic you may have to raise the vehicle to get to the rear most tray fastenings. Use metal car ramps to get the front up. Depending on what model year your Scenic is they can be awkward to raise on a trolley jack because they don't have a traditional sub-frame or structure suitable for lifting front wheels off the ground. Don't be tempted to use tyre changing jack either as this is only meant to raise wheel off ground for wheel change. You may find the front tray clips have broken and they can just about be accessed with car on the ground.
