Why is rise against a good band?
The question isn't why they're a good band, the question is why are they so popular. The answer is because they have different uncommon themes to their songs and portray them in not-so-obvious ways. Their songs make one think about things they perhaps hadn't thought about before. They also write songs about things that most bands wouldn't even dare to say let alone sing.
How many albums has Rise Against released?
Rise Against has released 6 albums and 1 EP. In 2001, The Unraveling was released. In 2003, Revolutions Per Minute was released. In 2004, Siren Song of the Counter Culture was released. In 2006, The Sufferer & The Witness was released. In 2008, This is Noise - EP and Appeal To Reason were released.

What are the lyrics for give it all by rise against?
This is taken directly from the album booklet.
break through the undertow
your hands i can't seem to find
pollution burns my tongue
cough words i can't speak so i
stop my struggling
then i float to the surface
fill my lungs with air
then let it out
i give it all
now there's a reason why i sing
i give it all
and it's this reason why i sing
rock bottom's where we live
and we still dig these trenches
to bury ourselves in them
backs breaking under tension
for far too long these voices
muffled by distances
its time to come to our senses
up from the dirt
we give it all
now there's a reason why i sing
so give it all
cuz it's these reasons that belong to me
breathe the air we give
the life we live
our pulses racing distances
so wet my tongue
break into song
thru seas of competition
so please believe your eyes
a sacrifice is not what we had in our minds
I'm coming homes tonight
home tonight
we give it all
this is the reason why i sing
so give it all
and it's this reason that belongs to me
today i offer up myself to this
I'm living for my dying wish
i give it all
now there's a reason
there's a reason

What is the origin of the phrase 'square meal'?
In Medieval times and later periods meals were often served on square wooden plates called Trenchers or platters, commonly known as a board. They were usually made out of a hardwood like maplewood so they didn't absorb the gravy & taint the next meal. There was a round groove lathe-cut into the centre of the board to hold the stew or gravy & often a small round groove drilled at the side of the platter to hold salt. You ate your meal with a knife & spoon, dipping meat into the salt. Where poor people may go without a meal often, sitting down to a proper meal on a board, (or 'square meal'), was a good thing - if you were getting your 3 square meals a day, you were doing very well for yourself. Just to confuse things, board also meant the dining table. There are naval links as well, square wooden trencher plates were used on-board ships as they didn't slide around as easily as circular plates, for sailors & press-ganged men they would have looked forward to a good square meal between their watches. If you went to an Inn for somewhere to sleep and food, you'd ask for 'bed & board'. Trencher is thought to originate from the French language where 'trancher' meant to cut, you'd cut the meat on your board. Before wooden trenchers came into common use, the trencher was made of bread, so that gravy soaked into the bread & you ate the plate as well, certainly saved on the washing up! See what they looked like at;

How do you know if God is trying to tell you something?
God speaks, and that means we can hear him. But how can you hear him if you cannot recognize his voice, and how can you recognize his voice if you do not speak his language and how can you speak his language if you do not know him. God can be known and he can be understood. You will hear him if you allow his Spirit into your heart by accepting Jesus as your Lord and saviour. Hmmm. I don't think God is limited to one language, nor do I think that God speaks to us audibly - that is to say aloud. He knows what we are thinking even before we think it. I believe that if you think what you did or are doing is wrong, then it is your conscience talking to you. Through your conscience, you are guided (or not) to do the good things that God has commanded. I believe that when your conscience bothers you, it is a way of God speaking with you.
What are the lyrics to Prayer of the Refugee by Rise Against?
Warm yourself by the fire, son,
And the morning will come soon.
I'll tell you stories of a better time,
In a place that we once knew.
Before we packed our bags
And left all this behind us in the dust,
We had a place that we could call home,
And a life no one could touch.
Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!
Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!
Down!
We are the angry and the desperate,
The hungry, and the cold,
We are the ones who kept quiet,
And always did what we were told.
But we've been sweating while you slept so calm,
In the safety of your home.
We've been pulling out the nails that hold up
Everything you've known.
Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!
Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!
So open your eyes child,
Let's be on our way.
Broken windows and ashes
Are guiding the way.
Keep quiet no longer,
We'll sing through the day,
Of the lives that we've lost,
And the lives we've reclaimed.
Go!
Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!
Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!
Don't hold me up...
(I don't need your help, I'll stand my ground)
Don't hold me up...
(I don't need your help)
No! No! No!
Don't hold me up!
(I don't need your help, I'll stand my ground)
Don't hold me up!
(I don't need your help, I'll stand my ground)
Don't let me down, down, down, down, down!

What are the lyrics to September's Children?
'Bang, Bang' go the coffin nails
Like a breath exhaled
Then gone forever
It seems like just yesterday
How did I miss the red flags raise?
Think back to the days we laughed
We braved these bitter storms together
Brought to his knees, he cried
But on his feet, he died
What God would damn a heart?
What God drove us apart?
What God could...
[Chorus]
Make it stop
Let this end
Eighteen years, pushed to the ledge
It's come to this
A weightless step
On the way down singing OoooHooo.
'Bang, Bang' from the closet walls
The schoolhouse halls
The shotgun's loaded
Push me and I'll push back
I'm done asking, I DEMAND
From a nation under God
I feel it's love like a cattle prod
Born free but still they hate
Born me, no I can't change
It's always darkest just before the dawn
So stay awake with me, let's prove them wrong
[Chorus]
Make it stop
Let this end
Eighteen years pushed to the ledge
It's come to this
A weightless step
On the way down singing OoooHooo
The cold river washed him away
But how could he forget
The gatherings hold candles
But not their tongues
Too much blood has flown from the wrists
Of the children shamed for those they choose to kiss
Who will rise to stop the blood?
We're calling for
Insisting on
A different beat
A brand new song
(Names of children who chose to end their lives through suicide due to bullying in September 2010 read by Rise Against's lead singer, Tim)
Tyler Clementi, age 18
Billy Lucas, age 15
Harrison Chase Brown, age 15
Cody J. Barker, age 17
Seth Walsh, age 13
[Alt. Chorus]
Make this stop
Make this end
This life chose me,
I'm not lost in sin
But proud I stand
Of who I am
I plan to go on living
