A heart murmer (heard by the vet when putting a stethoscope on your dog's chest) is a muffling of the 'lub dub' sound which should normally be heard. This is usually due to the valves in the heart not shutting perfectly, and allowing some blood to leak back.

If the heart is still pumping blood effectively, then even with this problem there will be few effects on quality of life. The risk is if the heart cannot cope; this can ocasionally happen just when dogs get very excited, or are exercised, or can occcur spontaneously. I have a 6 weeks and 18 weeks old dogs and they love to drink cold water. I monitored them and everything seems ok. I tried to give them room temperature water and they do not drink it. So I put cold water (bottled water) in there bowl and they love it! I found it not good to give animals "tap" water, too much chemicals, etc. in it.

In the earliest day of the giant schnauzer they worked at farms where they served as supervisors of horse and cart (herdingdogs and protectors of property) . The giant schnauzers used to live with the horses and other animals in the stables so they are generally good with horses and other animals. Of course you can't just put an adult giant schnauzer with a strange horse, but when they grow up together (with caution!) there shouldn't be a problem.

It all depends. Do you perfere a snappy terrier or a more calm terrier?? Can you groom them and get them proffesionally clipped?? Snauzers need more excersice... It's your choice. Look up Yorkie's and then look up Snauzers and ask yourself which one suits YOU more! (yorkies)
