Statistically speaking men get attacked more; the shark is a predator that operates on more than just scent and vision, its nose is also equiped with nerve receptors that can detect muscle contractions of its prey, and owing to the fact that testosterone is a neuro toxic poison (its true), it stimulates the nerves most potently, thus, owing to that men emit a stronger nerve signal, sharks tend to be more drawn to men. Sharks "breathe" by using their gills. Water passes through the mouth and out the gill slits. Oxygen is exchanged through the tissues lining the gills.

However, OTHER SPECIES of sharks can pump water over their gills when at rest and do not need to keep swimming. These species can be seen sleeping on the seabed around tropical reefs.

How many people get killed by sharks per year?

The Rhinemaidens are the three water-nymphs who appear in Richard Wagner's opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen. Their individual names are Woglinde, Wellgunde, and Flosshilde, although they are generally considered as a single entity and act together accordingly. Of the 34 characters in the Ring cycle, they are the only ones who do not originate in the Scandinavian Eddas. Other legends and myths on which Wagner drew, notably the Nibelungenlied, include stories that involve water-sprites (nixies) or mermaids, and it is likely that he created his Rhinemaidens from these sources. The key concepts associated with them in the Ring operas-their flawed guardianship of the Rhine gold, and the condition (renunciation of love) through which the gold could be stolen from them and transformed into a means of world power-are wholly Wagner's own invention, and are the elements that initiate and propel the entire drama. The Rhinemaidens are the first and the last characters to be seen in the operas, appearing both in the opening scene of Das Rheingold, and in the final climactic spectacle of Götterdämmerung when they rise from the Rhine waters to reclaim the ring from Brünnhilde's ashes. They have no relationship to any of the other characters, and no indication is given as to how they came into being, beyond occasional references to an unspecified "father". (more...)

How do sharks find a mate?

You ask a vast question.

All species of Animals have their own way of attraction.

From courtship dances of the Brolga, to the dominance of a lion to win his lioness, or even the fox whom if loses his mate, does not find another for the rest of his life.

There are too many to state, do you have one species in paticular that you were after?

Did megalodons give live birth or lay eggs?

It likely had live birth, through either semi-placental or internal egg carriage.

Since no egg remnants have been found, the giant Megalodon shark was likely viviparous, growing a small number of placental young within the female shark, as with requiem sharks (family Carcharhinidae).

However, it might have been ovoviviparous, where the female lays eggs internally, and then releases the live hatchlings, as with the Great White Shark (family Lamnidae).

Why do the teeth of the great white shark help them?

Alligators have a lot of teeth because they eat things with tough meat. With a lot of teeth, they can easily chew their food.

Alligators and crocodiles cannot chew. They have teeth that grip prey, then tear the prey item apart to swallow.

Are sharks deadly?

YES some are but not all sharks are the only sharks i heard that are super deadly are the Zanbezi shark great white shark the Meglodon shark the bull shark the lemon shark and the mako shark so all you have to do to not be shark chow is don't swim at night don't get in the water if your bleeding or have any open soars or cuts don't wear jewerly or anything shiny because a shark will think it is the scales of a fish and if you are in the water where you know there are sharks don't make huge splashes that also attracs sharks because they think a fish jumped out of the water and the splash would be the fish hitting the waters surface and to a shark there is nothing better then an afternoon snake.
