How should atopic dermatitis be treated in dogs?
It is a diagnosis for skin disease caused by allergy. It is very common, more prevalent in some breeds than others, and is incurable. Like diabetes, it can be CONTROLLED but not CURED. Some magical combination of the right food, right medications (both oral and topical as in medicated shampoos) is generally most effective. Recently, a preparation of cyclosporine has been approved (see www.atopica.com) for treatment. It is an exceedingly frustrating disease to treat for veterinarian and owner alike due to its recurrent nature and inability to cure.
How quickly does sunburn heal?
It depends on how bad the sunburn is. It usually takes around a week. I prefer using sunscreen to protect your skin. 15 minutes of sunshine everyday is enough!
"A pustule is an elevated lesion of any size that contains pus." Clinically, they occur due to an infection ie. bacterial (ex: MRSA or other).

Is it safe to use rubbing alcohol on a pimple if you're pregnant?
yes to an extent, using it frequently is bad for your skin but i use it when i have breakouts and on really oily parts of my skin (usually my chin) but DO NOT use it frequently or you will have tight dry skin which is very unappealing.
How do you get rid of blackheads and spots?

Does hand soap get rid of acne?
Well parents say that a lot but its not true. If you already have clear skin then using soap daily and using Johnson & Johnson's baby lotion will keep your skin be clear and soft. but if your skin is infested with pimples than i suggest you use Netrogena's aloe vera facial scrub you can get it in right aid. or you can use pore strips to clean all the dirt but don't buy pore strips daily us it once a month the pore strips hurt so put lotion afterwards. the aloe in the product takes away the redness and protects you from break outs. use it twice a day for a better outcome also eat very healthy because if you have blackheads it won't go away if you use the product so if you start eating healthy now it'll probably slowly going away. also i recommend Netrogena black eraser if you have black heads, and Netrogena's new and improved wave. k hope this was helpful.

Witch hazel is a very good product! I have mild acne that is very annoying. I use witch hazel in the night and in the morning after I scrub my face. Witch hazel uses its power to dry acne out. So I got a pack of scrub brushes that take the dry acne off. NEVER pick it off. Hope this helps.
Does popping a pimple help it heal faster?
I can't tell you how long it will take to heal, but I can tell you what to do to help it. The best home remedy I know for it is to make a mixture out of sugar (the best is caster sugar as it is gentle and can get deeper into the skin), honey (preferably manuka honey), and apple cider vinegar, then scrub it (not too hard) on the face. Leave it for around 20 minutes to half an hour. I sometimes also add a few drops of lavender or tea tree oil to the mix. There's a link to it below under "Related links."
Also, use vitamin E cream on the scar, but don't put it elsewhere, because it does increase risks of breakouts.
I know it sounds weird, but if your scar is still relatively new, cold sore cream may help heal it.
I've heard bio-oil is good, but I can't justify that with my own experiences because I haven't tried it.
Lavender oil and manuka honey (or just honey if you don't have manuka) applied onto the scar can also help heal it.
Above these topical treatments, it is important to maintain a healthy diet to maintain healthy skin. Eat foods high in fish oil, vitamin A, and vitamin E, and avoid nightshade vegetables (like eggplant), lactose, or yeast, as it may (if you don't notice a change in the quality of skin, don't worry about avoiding these foods) irritate the skin more, hence hindering the healing process. Avocados are high in vitamin E and C, and they really do help skin to improve if eaten regularly. Above all, drink at least eight glasses of water a day, aim for more if possible (but don't drink to excess), and avoid sugary or preservative-laden drinks.
There are different types of pimples and they can leave different types of scars. The most serious type is cause by cystic pimples. These are characterized by a large painful cyst developing below the skin and if it is squeezed, the pore walls that are already stretched to contain the cyst can break. This leaves a permanent depression in the skin. The only thing that can be done to improve it's appearance is to have it treated by the dermatologist two to three times per year with injectable fillers. Most people with cystic acne are treating it under a doctor's care.
With a more usual type of pimple, a red mark is left behind that can take months to go away and it is sometimes replaced with a patch of skin that is darkened to a greater or lesser degree, called post-infammatory hyperpigmentation. Use of a cosmetic "lightening" or "brightening" cream can help with this, especially one with hydroquinone as an active ingredient. If you are particularly impatient, you can get hydroquinone in prescription strength from the dermatologist. It is often combined with other ingredients that make it even more effective. One such product is Tri-Luma. These creams are not usually covered by insurance plans so the cost must be borne out-of-pocket. However, if the scar is treated early, it can be gone or almost gone within a month.
- Well, first of all, the best thing for that is DO NOT SQUEEZE THEM. Tempting as it is and I know because I do it, too, sometimes....you will really be doing yourself more harm than good if you keep squeezing and picking. But for the scars you already have, try using Mederma and follow the directions exactly. Not a guarantee, but it MAY help. Also, to make pimples go away faster, try using Tea Tree Oil blemish stick, found at the Body Shop (a specialy store in malls)...followed by some of Mario Badescu's drying lotion. Smells nasty (I think there's Calamine lotion in it, among other things, but it works). There's a website for that product -do a Google search and you should find it. I have a problem with those painful cyst-like blind pimples that can make the whole area swell up - it's lovely when I get one on my nose or chin! But if I use those products together at the first sign of a blind pimple, I have about 90-95% success at eliminating it before it gets any worse. Nothing before ever worked like that does for me, so I swear by it. Squeezing is one of the worst things you can do! Besides risking scarring, the bacteria infected puss just spreads into neighboring areas and causes more pimples. Also, you're touching your face with your oily hands to pop it and that's no good, either!
You can pop it more safely by sterilizing the area, use a sterile needle and gently prick a hole in it and let it drain (some gentle pressure may be in order with a clean cloth,) and cleansing the area again afterwards. The best thing is to keep it clean and let it dry up naturally though after a day or so--but who wants to do that on prom night?
Also, now products are labeled "noncomedogenic"-- which means they don't clog pores. Look for that when buying makeup, sunscreen, soaps, etc!!!
You don't say how old the "scar" is, but try a dab of neosporin for a few days. It should help the redness. When I have a pimple, I do the steps as noted above, and then put a dab of aloe vera on it.
For scars related with acne, pimples and chicken pox, you can try using Zenmed's Scars Treatment Kit which is very effective and can get rid of chicken pox scars within a month's time. So for scars left by pimples, it shouldn't take more than a week or so. The primary ingredients are purified water, glycolic acid, vitamin B5 and glycerin. These ingredients suit any type of skin and are safe to use.
One very easy tip to get red of with this type of scars is, take some Sandalwood powder and make a thin paste with water. At bed time wash your face with lukewarm water and apply this paste on scars. You can apply on full face also. Let it dry and leave it on overnight. Wash in the morning with lukewarm water. Repeat daily. It will take time but it will completely remove your scars or spots.

They are prbably hair follicles that have been infected or irritated, they should clear up on their own.
How did jock itch get its name?
It originates from a fungus in a warm wet environment and from tropical disease sources (such as what the vets from the Viet Nam War contracted). There is an explanation that is way better than I could explain it so please read the attached related question below.
How long do your legs stay swollen after sunburn?
It will take a long time to heal properly, maybe a few weeks. You should not go on the beach and lie in the sun in hot weather without a high factor sunscreen. You should also keep re-applying it. You could have been taken to hospital with severe burns to your skin. It sounds very painful so go to the chemist/drug store and get some cream. A lot of people learn the hard way about this, including myself, even after all the advertising and warnings there are. You can get skin cancer from too much sunlight. Good luck, I know how it feels and you have my sympathy.

How do i heal a scab left from me picking a zit?
there are many diffrent was to heal a scar from acne. my favorite and most effective ways are home remidies. i was open to try anything because i had really bad scarring on my face from me pickin at my acne. the most effective was probably lemon juice.either u can cut open a lemon or if u have 100% real lemon juice, take a cotton ball and rub it on all of the effected areas for about 5 to 10 minutes, when done with that, clens the face with warm water then pat face dry. since the skin reacts diffrently at night,i would do it before i go to bed,and in the morning u should alread see results, and u will notice redused redness. another way is to just but poroxide on a Q-tip and put it on a sertain infected spot and hold it there for a minute,u should see the spot began to turn white, but that is a good thing, its raising all of the bacteria to the surface of the skin,so ur spot is technically spotless :),but just has redness to it,so to reduse redness, the first remedy above should take care of it.
hoped this helped! :D
Do you remove the plastic strip on shingles?
No. It is perfectly fine to leave the plastic strip on. The strip is there to keep the shingles from sticking together in the bundle.
Try to remove this strip while doing a ten or fifteen square roof and watch your time a frustration rise.
Can you get eczema on your feet?
yes eczema can appear anywhere on the body. it is not as common on the feet but can appear there. eczema on feet is similar to athletes foot, it's not but is very similar.
technically..yes my 2 year old nephew has had it a tiny bit. When i was 8 or 9 i remember having all these really little bumbs on my forehead but they went away. This could be a sign that he/she could experience acne problems when they grow up so if they do try to do something about it early. Baby Acneby: Jackie G. MaxwellOne of the most common conditions a new mother may see on her infant, is baby acne. But while it is startling in so young a child, it's really not a serious issue, nor should you be overly concerned about the causes or cures.
Some babies when born, may have small red bumps on their face. This is not baby acne, but something called "milia", which usually disappears in a couple of weeks. On the other hand, the acne will appear around that same two week period, and show itself as small white heads, sometimes surrounded by red, irritated skin on the cheeks, chin, forehead and even the back.
In teenagers and even adults, acne is blamed on hormones and excessively oily skin. To some extent this is true of infants also, with hormones transmitted through the placenta, often being blamed for the facial spots. However, science has no real idea of the cause, and there is normally no treatment for the few weeks a child will have it.
Because the baby acne appears on areas of the face where they may have spit up, rubbed against sheets washed in harsh detergent, or drooled, it can become slightly aggravated, but that extra irritation will go away by changing your laundry soap, and wiping their face with a damp cloth when needed.
How long should I leave CVS brand Acne Spot Treatment on my face and how much do I put on?
You leave it on until you wash your face again and you should use no more than a pea sized amount.
Should you cover molluscum contagiosum?
my son has this and yes if untreated you should cover anytime you are around people. This is spread form skin to skin contact, also by sharing towels and other personal hygiene things. Even if it is treated i would cover it when you around people. For my son who is 3, i cover when he is in daycare and let the virus breath in the evening when he is home. My son is undergoing the liquid nitrogen treatment every 3 weeks and since this is the first treatment i have not seen a difference but after a day he was back to his old self so its very painful be can be tolerated.
