How do you treat dermatographic urticaria?

I've had it since i was 8 and have found that for chronic problems a daily antihistamine works quite well. I've read about other treatments (taking low-dose aspirin daily), but haven't asked my doctor about them yet. I've been on cyproheptadine, Claratin, and now hydroxyzine. So far hydroxyzine works quite well, but it will make you drowsy. I'm on Adderal as well so the two balance out quite well.

Is the Nuva ring a good birth control choice if you're switching from the patch because it is irritating your skin and itching?

I don't know how much hormone is in the patch, but I assume it's more than the Nuvaring. This is really a question for your gynecologist, because he/she'd know more, but if the Nuvaring will work for you after the patch, then by all means do it. It worked for me for a bit, and it was easy and convenient. I highly recommend it.

Red rash between a mans legs around scrotum?

Blue star ointment really works so does Tinactin spray for a heat rash corn starch is one of the best. The best thing you can have in with your bath soaps is Epson Salts. Epson Salts is not like table salt and it soothes aches and many other things (excellent for rashes and sunburns.) Mix 1 good 1 1/2 cups of Epson Salts with some boiling water (in the measuring cup) to melt the crystals and then pour into your TEPID bath water. Lay in it for 20 minutes to 1/2 hour or more. DON'T USE TOO HOT WATER IN YOUR BATH! I am sure the above methods are great as well, and the oinment spray is also good after the bath.

Why don't you sweat in the face?

You sweat from your pores. You have pores on your face. You can sweat from your face. If you are not sweating, there might be a problem with your glands or some other organ related to the activity, in which case you should get it checked by a qualified medical professional. It is also possible that your geographical location has a relatively low humidity content in the atmosphere. This would also inhibit sweating.

What are the foods allowed in psoriasis?

This is a long answer but PLEASE read it......... I found a REAL solution to psoriasis through diet!!!

As a sufferer of psoriasis for about 12 years I have tried just about everything available from the doctor to try and control it. Pills, creams, soaks, etc. Unfortunately nothing worked, in fact it got worse, so bad that my skin became so dry and thickened that the simple act of just trying to bend my fingers would result in instant deep splits which bled all the time. I couldn't even write anymore with a pen because my skin wouldn't stretch to allow my hands to have proper movement. I would step out of bed in the morning and my feet would split in about 5 places, deep to the blood. I couldn't get my hands or feet wet because the water absoloulty stung beyond belief. I looked like a burns victim.

I did my own little trial with foods and noticed that when I ate pumpkin kernels (green ones) my skin improved. These are loaded with zinc which helps the skin. I also ate nuts (cashews, Brazil's - when I could afford them!)

It was still not enough to give me a normal life so I tried eliminating milk (all dairy). This helped a lot but still not enough.

Finally (a few months ago) I eliminated gluten. I substituted it with rice or corn crackers. Without a word of a lie, within about 6 hours I noticed that my feet were not itchy. (They were at this time, totally covered with thick crusty white flaking skin and itched like crazy) The itching had totally stopped! Within 1 week you could see such a huge improvement, and after 2 weeks thee were only a few very small thin patches left!!

Then I had wheat bread a few days later (I had lunch at a friends) and noticed that about 6 or so hours later my feet itched really badly again! I have discovered that I will itch within several hours after I have anything with gluten it it EVERY time, and if I continue to eat it, the psoriasis comes back very fast!

My advice is to try (even just for a week) to have NO gluten (no wheat, rye, barley or oats) and see if you are gluten-intolerant. Eating pumpkin kernals and nuts is very good too.

I have spoken to several other psoriasis sufferers and most are allergic to gluten and improved when they emininated it.

I hope this helps you - my family and friends are amazed at how I have improved - and just through my diet! I am now about 5 months into it, and my hands are clear as a bell, and my feet are "almost" there!!

What happens when babies are born without skin?

its quite simple really. the baby will inevitably die. your skin is in place to protect your muscles and organs from infection.

That is not entirely accurate. The outcome depends on the percentage of skin that is missing, most babies can grow the missing skin, and in a severe case, they have had many successful skin grafts.

Can vitamin d 50000 units cause skin rash?

I can only speak about my own experience since childhood, but YES, vitamin c supplements can cause skin rash.

Whenever I have more than 1000 mg of Vitamin C in a 24hr period, I develop a very fine, very itchy rash that covers my entire face. 2000 mg in 24hrs gives me really itchy skin all over. If I have more than 4000 mg in a 48 hr period, I get hives.

Stopping the Vitamin C and drinking plenty of water is the only cure and there's no way to speed up the disappearance of the rash.

I was shocked by how little information there is on Vitamin C side effects (or in this case- allergy). In fact, every medical account downplays skin reactions completely. I found plenty of references to kidney stones from excess Vitamin C but the only mention of skin conditions comes from forums like this where people (like you and me) are looking for answers.

You may want to keep a journal of your supplement intake (including ALL supplements) and note any reactions, large and small.

a head louse has 6 legs each one with a claw like thing on it. These claws can irritate and scratch your head making you want to itch it. What you use to remove pimple spots on your face?

The most popular and effective antibiotic is benzoyl peroxide. It is present in most acne treatment products. It reduces inflammation by fighting off P. acne, one of the bacteria that contributes to inflammation and is found on the skin. Benzoyl peroxide also opens and drains comedos, also known as blackheads.

You can also use other treatments that contain salicylic acid. It is just as effective as benzoyl peroxide.

If severe acne continues, go see a doctor.

Along with things to treat acne, there are other things that can contribute to acne. Excessive make-up and cosmetics develop more acne. Such cosmetics include: hairspray, hair dye, and products with oil and grease.

Anything that rubs the skin excessively promotes acne. A misconstrued myth is scrubbing your skin hard with soaps to treat acne. This actually makes the condition worse. Instead, scrub gently and carefully when bathing. Also, clothing items like bra straps, hats, helmets, or shoulder pads produce the same result. Tight, hot clothing can exacerbate acne because sweat and humidity can build within the clothes.

There is no link between acne and a person's diet. This does not mean eat all the greasy foods you want. You still want to stay healthy with fruits and vegetables but all in all, there is no correlation.

Does dry skin make you itch?
