What is a circle rash that doesn't itch?

Sounds like it could be ring worm. I'd have it checked by a doctor to know for sure. It could just be an irritation that happens to be in a circle.

AnswerIt is probably a ringworm; however, you should see your doctor and get some medication. AnswerDon't waste your money on a doctor. Just go to your local pharmacy and ask him what he thinks it is and and see if he can give you something over the counter for it. Most Pharmacist know just as much as doctors. AnswerIf the center is clear and it is a ring shape and has bad itching it probably is ringworm. The old and proven remedy is to soak a cottonball in Clorox Bleach. Thoroughly soak the area let dry leave it on a while. This does burn, but 1 time should be enough to smother the worm. AnswerRingworm is not a worm. It is a fungal infection slightly under the skin. Do not use bleach on your body, it's for your clothes or cleaning up disgusting things on floors or counters. Go buy some antifungal over the counter medication. if problem persists, consult your doctor. AnswerAs a retired cosmetologist & instructor, & mother of 2 sets of now adult twins and a 13 yr old as well, I think I might be able to help on the ringworm thing. It is a fungal infection, but from my experience and I have had plenty of it, over the counter medicines don't work, especially if it has already developed the full ring, for every over the counter med you continue to try and every home remedy you try, it will continue to get larger and larger, and as it does, it does damage to the skin tissue, nails (if involved), and especially any hair folicles. The only true treatment I have ever found successful, included antibiotic creams with INTERNAL Prescription Medication/antibiotics at the same time. (Depending on it's severity, and strain, it can in some cases require medications that use poisons in which cases the blood / medication levels of the patient have to be monitored closely. Getting a correct diagnosis and correct treatment is best done through a dermatologist not a regular MD. I have had one of my children end up with minor permanent damage to hair follicles, and hair no longer grows where the infection occurred, thankfully it was an underneath area, don't wait to seek out a doctor to find out for sure the sooner it's treated, the less complicated the treatment needs to be- if it's treated both internally and externally at the same time.

I agree with the above statement except treating it with an antibiotic. Antibiotics are only for bacteria. Since it was stated that ringworm is caused by a fungus, antibiotics may further worsen the problem. However, one fungus is treated by antibiotics, Pneumocystis jiroveci, but that is only seen in immunocompromised people such as AIDS patients. It should be treated internally (terbinafine or itraconazole) and externally (terbinafine 1% cream - Lamisil). Do not suck on a tube of Lamisil for internal treatment. It's not the same thing. Since you need a prescription for the internal medication, you might as well go to the doctor anyway.

Most of the above answers say ringworm, but i had this red patch on the inside of my arm. In fact, I get it every spring. It was nothing. Just some sort of irritation of the skin.

AnswerIf it's in the shape of a circle, not raised, white if your tan and red if your not then it may not be ringworm. I am speaking from my own personal experience, because I've never had ringworm. I went to my dermatologist for this one. But the skin on my chest leading up to my neck is very sensitive and there is a fungus that lives on just about everyone and is normally introduced through family members (the close proximity). I have several perfectly round, sometimes itchy, spots. My doctor gave me a cream that's usually used for such fungal things as say ringworm. It's called 'Oxistat', I am to apply it once a day for three weeks or so and can stop when I see that the spots are gone. However, because my skin is so sensitive in this area they will most likely reappear sometime in the future. Normally from sweat or over exposure to the sun. Anyway, just incase anyone was wondering if it could be anything besides ringworm, here's your answer.

Circle with red circle inside? If so get checked for Lyme disease.

Why does my skin on my thighs and arms hurt when i touch them?

Do you wear leotards or other spandex clothing on those parts a lot? I find that pantyhose or tights makes the skin on my legs tender and some of my long-sleeved stretchy blouses make the skin on my arms tender. It's not all the time though, unless I'm wearing this stuff everyday. That's why being a professional dancer or some other profession where you wear spandex all the time might cause this problem.

What are the general rules to follow when applying a dressing or bandage on a wound?

When applying a dressing or bandage, you would do these things:

  • control bleeding
  • do NOT remove saturated dressings if bleeding continues; instead, apply more gauze squares/pads, and apply more gauze wrap, and apply direct pressure with your hand
  • prevent further injury (such as if there is already a compound fracture where the bone sticks through the skin, you would protect that area so it does not result in more injury)
  • do NOT attempt to clean a very dirty wound; let the E.R. Staff clean the wound
  • do NOT apply an cream, lotion, spray, etc. to any open or major wound
  • do NOT attempt to remove a projectile that has impaled the person
  • brace any projectiles with rolls of gauze (example: a man's leg is impaled by a piece of steel rod)
  • start the dressing a little higher and a little lower than the wound
  • start from the fingers or toes on a limb wound and go upward with the roll of gauze---if the lower leg or arm needs covered
  • leave the toes and fingers exposed
  • do NOT wrap too loosely or too tightly
  • check the color and warmth of fingers and toes; if blue or whitish, the bandage is too tight and needs removed and re-done.
  • do NOT put an Ace bandage over a major wound; you need to see the gauze to see if bleeding continues or restarts.
  • seek medical help promptly

A bandage should be sterile BUT any clean cloth or rag can substitute for a bandage if nothing else is available.

Note: A scratch or scrape can be cleaned and a bandaid or dressing put on IF needed. Advise your patient to keep the bandage clean and dry.

What causes a itchy rash on your wrists?

Go see a doctor because that is not common at all...

This could be an allergic reaction to a product such as dish detergent, soap, lotion, etc. that you've just begun using. Allergic reactions can also occur to things that you've been using for a long time, and are not always only to new products that you've just begun using.

If you've recently done gardening, taken a walk through a park, wooded area, etc., it could be an allergic reaction to a particular plant, as well.

Why has a small hole appeared in your face?

Can stress cause skin to itch and burn?

A lot of times when under stress, some folks absent-mindedly scratch at an area on their arms repeatedly... After a while --as the skin area scratched attemps to heal from the 'chronic' irritation of scratching-- that area begins to thicken in self-defense, turns purple, and the cycle continues... If this is the case, get some 1% Hydrocortizone and apply several times a day to the affected area. If not... see your dermatologist...

How do you get molluscum contagiosum?

Molluscum virus is spread by skin to skin contact. In adults, the infection is often genital and is spread by sexual contact. In school-aged children, it's spread by casual skin-to-skin contact.

How do you remove ingrown hair from the pubic area?

Very carefully!!!! Best bet is to use a hot compress on it which is hot washcloth or cotton ball and apply and let the heat sit on it, do this a few times whenever possible, it will draw the hair up and relieve the irritation. YOu can try drawing salve, any where a pharmacy is you can find this. The last resort if you cant stand the irritation is to use a needle and lance the skin around the center of where ingrown hair is, almost like removing a splinter but it is sensitive. DO NOT SQUEEZE IT BECAUSE THAT SENDS THE HAIR FURTHER IN AND IT HURTS LIKE HELL. Good Luck.

What is black and blue spot in the skin?

What helps really bad sunburn itch?

I've read several inquiries online from people desperately seeking relief as they experience an unusual deep nerve penetrating itch after a sunburn.

My family has experienced this for three generations and when we finally found this soulution we try to let others know.

For intense-deep-i'm going crazy-sunburn itch ....get PEPPERMINT OIL. Be careful not to buy peppermint extract. You can find PEPPERMINT OIL in health food stores and natural foods stores. There are some pharmacists who know about this and carry it as well...not many though.

Rub the oil directly on the affected area until all of the surface is covered. If you can't reach...for back burns, have someone else apply thorougly.

The hands of whoever applies it will feel the cooling affect of the oil even after they wash their hands. It feels fine, not painful in anyway. AVOID any contact with eyes, mouth or nose however as they will be irritated by the oil.

This is the ONLY thing that works nearly instantly and permanently with this deep nerve sunburn itch that some people experience. One application is all that is necessary as Peppermint oil is pretty potent. Please try this. I know the insanity you are feeling if you are going through this right now.

Again I'm talking about unusually intensedeep nerve itching, not regular peeling skin itch that most people experience post sunburn. This deeper, intense almost pinching itch begins usually one or two days following a burn and those who experience it feel as though they are going crazy as it's intensity is nearly unbearable.

Things to avoid that only make this itch worse...don't apply any lotion or other oils. This includes pure aloe vera which seems to just dry it more. Standing under a cool shower spray can help as long as you are in it while you wait for someone to buy the PEPPERMINT OIL. Anyone who has gone through this knows that any relief brought by the spray of water goes away as soon as you get out of the shower and start to dry the itch returns.

PEPPERMINT OIL WILL remove the itch.

Just writing about this always makes me remember the insane feeling of experiencing this and makes me hopeful others will find this in time to find relief.

Once you've used it IT WILL WORK. You'll want to keep the oil on hand and avoid at all costs exposing yourself to the sun again like that in the future. We know two things about it...if you've experienced it once you are vulnerable to it happening again, and, it seems to be a genetic thing. About half of my family members have experienced it once, two of them twice. We don't risk it anymore. It is sure nice to know what to do about it though.

I research this quite a lot to see if other's have found this solution. I did see a few posts that have indicated that gold balm medicated powder has worked for some relief too. I haven't tried that (and don't intend to EVER be in the position to need to), but it's worth writing about any real relief as this is such a crazy thing to experience with no relief.

Does icing a pimple work?

Ice cannot cure pimples, but it can make them look better.

When you have a pimple, much of the red part is swelling cause by blood rushing to the site. Just like icing a stubbed toe, ice can reduce the swelling in your pimple.

This is good because it reduces the size of the pimple, but it is not a cure. You still have to take care of the bacteria and oil trapped under your skin, and if you don't the pimple will swell up again.

What is the difference between tapeworm ringworm and hookworm?

Some basic info... Ringworm is a type of fungus Tapeworms can grow up to 40-100 feet, usually one. Hookworms attach themselves to an intestinal wall and feed off of the blood. My information is not 100% correct but minor information I learned. Check encyclopedia.com or Wikipedia.com for more info.

What foods cause pimples?

Well, if you eat a lot of chocolate (supposedly), that usually causes your acne problems. People also say that milk does too.
Many professionals have went back and forth on this topic as to whether food-caused acne is a myth. Many say that "you are what you eat." Eating foods containing a lot of fat and oils will effect your skin and your body inside and out. Always remember to eat those types of foods sparingly.

What is the best way to treat blackheads?

If you want to squeeze a blackhead, this should be done with clean hands and you should wash the face beforehand and afterwards. If this is not done, the pore could get infected and you will end up looking worse than you did with the blackhead.

What can you use to help pimples go away?

I know toothpaste works for me. I have acne prone skin and have been looking for a solution since elementary school. Toothpaste always seems to work on the small pimples. Just make sure it's original toothpaste. Not bubblegum flavored or anything like that. Apply it with a Q-tip. Don't use your fingers. That will just spread even more oils and bacteria to your face. Let it dry a little before going to bed and the next morning wash it off. It may not be gone but it will have dried out and be smaller. Don't stop there, keep using it every night for good results. Keep your skin clean from any oil or dirt, you can put some alcohol (you should have some for any cuts) and if there is a white dot squeeze them, but if they don't come out, put alcohol and leave it like that.

There is no easy way to get rid of pimples, they are a fact of life for many of us. However, one way to combat pimples is to use oatmeal as a washing agent. Simply take oatmeal and mix with a small amount of warm water. Use this to scrub your face with. This will remove not only dirt and dead skin, but also oil, without harming the skin itself. After washing, rinse well with warm water, then to tighten pores, rinse again with cool, NOT cold, but cool water. Remember to keep from touching your face thoughout the day, avoid heavy, oily makeup, and wash your face at least twice a day, at least once with the oatmeal.

Most people often overdue the "drying out" part, or scrub & squeeze it too much, which can make it even more red and angry. The following is best to do at night, when you won't be putting make-up on or anything:

1. After you clean your face, put the hottest water you can on a washcloth, and hold it to the pimple. After a minute when it starts to cool down, dip the corner of the cloth back under the running water, and do it again. Repeat this a couple times. It will open up the pore. 2. Decision time: If it has a white head or point, give it a squeeze. Don't overdue it, but get out what you can. If it is just humped/round, don't bother squeezing- you'll just irritate it more. 3. Dab with something to dry it out- rubbing alcohol, lemon juice, vinegar, (or over the counter acne treatment.) 4. Leave it the heck alone. At most, dab with drying agent again right before bed. In the morning you can do the hot cloth again, and a little drying agent, but lay off of it until it seems to be getting flakey/dry in that area. Don't skip your moisturizer, but don't use a greasy kind.

If you have acne all over your face, you can do a steam for your whole face like this: 1. Make sure bathroom sink is clean. 2. Get hot water really hot and keep towel ready. 3. Rinse out sink so porcelain is cold. 4. Get sink filling up with hot water. 5. Bend over sink (or chair in front) with face over water and towel over head and sink, "sealing in" steam. 6. Do this until water starts to cool off, or you get really bored. At least 5-7 minutes, longer if you like. Do this after cleansing but before toning, drying, or moisturizing. I am always amazed at how much smoother my skin tone looks after this- so it's nice to do before going out, but the real point is opening up your pores so the gunk can get out, and the stuff your applying- like toner or drying agent - can get in.

How do i get rid of my pimples on my chest?

Pretty much go through the same routine you use on your face. Your chest, like many other parts of the body, have pores that can get oily or clogged, especially if you sweat and wear a shirt all day. Keep your chest area clean by washing it down with a wet cloth when you go to wash your face and perhaps use some facial acne cream on them just like you would your face. You should see a big difference. =]

Should a child attend school with scabies?

A child cannot attend school with ringworm until the affected area has been treated thoroughly with Lamisil (over the counter anti-fungal) for at least 24 hours. This is long enough that it will not be as contagious. Ringworm is a fungus that is HIGHLY contagious in children, but most adults don't catch it as long as their immune systems are healthy. It is also spread easily amongst pets so be careful and look for circles of hairless spots on your pet, they may need treatment at the vet. Sandboxes are one way of catching it, the moist sand breeds fungus. But usually they catch it from touching other children. Follow your doctor's advice on treating the ringworm with Lamisil anti-fungal cream (in the athlete's foot section) it will need to be applied 2 or 3 times daily for a couple weeks to clear it entirely, continue applying even if it appears gone, until the time the doctor says is up. If you stop early, it will return. Large areas or infected areas the child has scratched will require antibiotics from the doctor as well as the Lamisil, or perhaps a prescription strength anti-fungal. If it's more than just a small spot of it, go to the doctor. Some school districts will require a doctor's note to return to school, because it spreads like wildfire.

Why do you sweat when you eat chocolate?

You should not sweat when you eat unless A: you are in a hot room, or B: you are consuming heavily spiced food with high levels of capsaicin, the "hot" chemical in most Chile peppers. Sweating is part of your immune system's allergic response to this irritant.

If the above is not the case, you should see a medical professional as it may be a symptom of a metabolic disorder.

What type of body soap should i use if i have eczema?

Don't use a moisturizing soap because they will dry your skin out and damage the skin barrier. Use soap-free liquid cleansers like- Spectro Jel or Spectro Derm, Cetaphil. A good web site is www.skincareguide.ca/eczema_guide/index.html click on the Eczema Patients Guide

You should not use soaps that contain perfumes, dyes, lanolins, moisturizers, oils, etc.....our dermatologist recommends 2 & only 2: Dove Free & Gentle or Basis.....personally I have used Basis for more than 15 years & I love it.....you can buy it at Walmart or even Walgreens (it's a little more expensive there), it's near the Neutrogena Products, not the regular soaps. A good portion of the Old testament takes place in or around Egypt. Egypt also plays a major role in the life of many Bible people from Moses and Joseph to Jesus. Where in the world is Egypt? Egypt is situated in the northeast corner of the Africa. A large river called the River Nile flows through the country into the Mediterranean Sea. The Nile enters Egypt from the Sudan and flows north for about 1545 km (about 960 m) to the sea. Where did the Ancient Egyptians live? The Ancient Egyptians lived along the banks of the river Nile in Egypt. Farmers first settled in Egypt along the River Nile around 5000 B.C. Where do most people in Egypt live today? About 95 % of Egypt's population still live in the Nile valley (the area next to the river). Why is the River Nile important to the Egyptians today and in the past? Egypt is mainly made up of hot deserts and receives little rainfall. Without the River Nile, the area would be entirely desert. What is meant by "the gift of the Nile"? All of Egypt depended on the Nile for water, food and transportation. The Nile also provided the ancient Egyptians with fertile land which helped them to grow their crops and raise their animals.

Before modern dams were built the river Nile would flood each year coating the land on either side of the river with thick back mud. This mud was ideal for growing crops on.
