Do you wear leotards or other spandex clothing on those parts a lot? I find that pantyhose or tights makes the skin on my legs tender and some of my long-sleeved stretchy blouses make the skin on my arms tender. It's not all the time though, unless I'm wearing this stuff everyday. That's why being a professional dancer or some other profession where you wear spandex all the time might cause this problem.

After a while --as the skin area scratched attemps to heal from the 'chronic' irritation of scratching-- that area begins to thicken in self-defense, turns purple, and the cycle continues... If this is the case, get some 1% Hydrocortizone and apply several times a day to the affected area. If not... see your dermatologist...

Best bet is to use a hot compress on it which is hot washcloth or cotton ball and apply and let the heat sit on it, do this a few times whenever possible, it will draw the hair up and relieve the irritation. YOu can try drawing salve, any where a pharmacy is you can find this. The last resort if you cant stand the irritation is to use a needle and lance the skin around the center of where ingrown hair is, almost like removing a splinter but it is sensitive. If you want to squeeze a blackhead, this should be done with clean hands and you should wash the face beforehand and afterwards. If this is not done, the pore could get infected and you will end up looking worse than you did with the blackhead.

I know toothpaste works for me. I have acne prone skin and have been looking for a solution since elementary school. Toothpaste always seems to work on the small pimples. Just make sure it's original toothpaste. Not bubblegum flavored or anything like that. Apply it with a Q-tip. Don't use your fingers. That will just spread even more oils and bacteria to your face. Let it dry a little before going to bed and the next morning wash it off. It may not be gone but it will have dried out and be smaller. Don't stop there, keep using it every night for good results. Keep your skin clean from any oil or dirt, you can put some alcohol (you should have some for any cuts) and if there is a white dot squeeze them, but if they don't come out, put alcohol and leave it like that.

There is no easy way to get rid of pimples, they are a fact of life for many of us. However, one way to combat pimples is to use oatmeal as a washing agent. Simply take oatmeal and mix with a small amount of warm water. Use this to scrub your face with. This will remove not only dirt and dead skin, but also oil, without harming the skin itself. After washing, rinse well with warm water, then to tighten pores, rinse again with cool, NOT cold, but cool water. Remember to keep from touching your face thoughout the day, avoid heavy, oily makeup, and wash your face at least twice a day, at least once with the oatmeal.

Most people often overdue the "drying out" part, or scrub & squeeze it too much, which can make it even more red and angry. The following is best to do at night, when you won't be putting make-up on or anything:

1. After you clean your face, put the hottest water you can on a washcloth, and hold it to the pimple. After a minute when it starts to cool down, dip the corner of the cloth back under the running water, and do it again. Repeat this a couple times. It will open up the pore. 2. Decision time: If it has a white head or point, give it a squeeze. Don't overdue it, but get out what you can. If it is just humped/round, don't bother squeezing- you'll just irritate it more. 3. Dab with something to dry it out- rubbing alcohol, lemon juice, vinegar, (or over the counter acne treatment.) 4. Leave it the heck alone. At most, dab with drying agent again right before bed. In the morning you can do the hot cloth again, and a little drying agent, but lay off of it until it seems to be getting flakey/dry in that area. Don't skip your moisturizer, but don't use a greasy kind.

If you have acne all over your face, you can do a steam for your whole face like this: 1. Make sure bathroom sink is clean. 2. Get hot water really hot and keep towel ready. 3. Rinse out sink so porcelain is cold. 4. Get sink filling up with hot water. 5. Bend over sink (or chair in front) with face over water and towel over head and sink, "sealing in" steam. 6. Do this until water starts to cool off, or you get really bored. At least 5-7 minutes, longer if you like. Do this after cleansing but before toning, drying, or moisturizing. I am always amazed at how much smoother my skin tone looks after this- so it's nice to do before going out, but the real point is opening up your pores so the gunk can get out, and the stuff your applying- like toner or drying agent - can get in.

Pretty much go through the same routine you use on your face. Your chest, like many other parts of the body, have pores that can get oily or clogged, especially if you sweat and wear a shirt all day. Keep your chest area clean by washing it down with a wet cloth when you go to wash your face and perhaps use some facial acne cream on them just like you would your face. A child cannot attend school with ringworm until the affected area has been treated thoroughly with Lamisil (over the counter anti-fungal) for at least 24 hours. This is long enough that it will not be as contagious. Ringworm is a fungus that is HIGHLY contagious in children, but most adults don't catch it as long as their immune systems are healthy. It is also spread easily amongst pets so be careful and look for circles of hairless spots on your pet, they may need treatment at the vet. Sandboxes are one way of catching it, the moist sand breeds fungus. But usually they catch it from touching other children. Follow your doctor's advice on treating the ringworm with Lamisil anti-fungal cream (in the athlete's foot section) it will need to be applied 2 or 3 times daily for a couple weeks to clear it entirely, continue applying even if it appears gone, until the time the doctor says is up. If you stop early, it will return. Large areas or infected areas the child has scratched will require antibiotics from the doctor as well as the Lamisil, or perhaps a prescription strength anti-fungal. If it's more than just a small spot of it, go to the doctor. Some school districts will require a doctor's note to return to school, because it spreads like wildfire.

you should also keep your clothes that you wear against your crotch as clean and dry as possible and try to wear loose fitting clothes that will allow your crotch to stay dry.
