Does your body become unconsious when you sleep?

No. You are sub conscious. You still wake up, and you are still alert if an alarm clock or a loud noise goes on/off. And your brain is still active, making you dream. You can be alert to touch too. If you feel someone/something hit you, you may awaken. So you are not fully unconscious.

What is a cure for Hypoxia?

that's case to case basis if the patient has been experiencing hypoxia for the past 5-10 mins that is very dangerous to the patient cos it may cause irreversible brain damage cos hypoxia leads to hypoxemia that's the first thing you should worry about..

and the other case is if he/she is prone or begins to hyperventilate that leads to hypoxia which in turns to hypoxemia (inadequate oxygenation of the blood) then you should first give the patient sufficient O2 to prevent or lessen the possibility of client having hypoxemia...

i think when the patient is in the hypoxemic stage it is automatically severe and dangerous and it needs critical care...

How do you fall asleep?

Here are some ways to help get a good night's sleep:

  • Have a set schedule - get a routine that you do every night, such as brush your teeth, take a bath, then crawl into bed; or read a chapter in your book. Any routine will get your body into the habit of feeling sleepy whenever you do the routine.
  • Go to bed around the same time every night -- even on days off! That way, your body knows it's time to get sleepy
  • Drop the temperature in your bedroom to around 70 degrees Fahrenheit - or even 68! Your body temperature drops when you're asleep, so having the bedroom cool makes your body naturally feel sleepy.
  • Cut out the caffeine -- you should not drink any caffeine after noon if you have trouble sleeping! That includes coffee, tea, sodas, "energy drinks," and many diet pills!
  • Check your bed. You should have a good, supportive mattress -- get a new one every 3-5 years! -- and enough pillows and blankets to feel comfortable. If you're not comfy, you wake up in the night.
  • Try cutting down on liquids if you wake up frequently to visit the bathroom. If you wake up more than twice to urinate, get a physical exam, because it might be diabetes or prostate trouble (if you're a man).

What are the five benefits for waking up early?

There is a disadvantage only if you sleep late at night. Otherwise, it is perfectly good to start the day early as you have more time at hand to do what you want.

Early morning hours are usually quiet & peaceful. The best time to meditate, chant or do some yoga practice to kick start your day confidently.

On the other hand, when you wake up late you find yourself doing everything in a hurry. Rushing, rushing, rushing & feeling high strung & tensed.

So as long as you have had a good nights sleep, there is no need to worry about waking up early.

Are there people that live with out sleep?

Most sleep problems are caused by people not learning healthy ways to deal with stress - they worry and worry and then they can't sleep because they can't shut off their brains. They need to learn to meditate and find other ways of dealing instead of worrying, then they can sleep.

Other problems can be caused by disease, medication and natural aging (older people need only around 6 hours of sleep a night instead of 8).

2) hold the cannula with both hands so that the prongs are facing away from you and curving down

3) put the prongs into the patient's nostrils

4) pull the tubes over and behind both of the patient's ears at the same time

5) adjust the plastic slide back up so that the cannula isn't tight enough to bother the patient yet the cannula won't slide off.

Can you temporarily suffer from locked-in syndrome?

Yes, there are several cases in the medical literature where a person has locked in syndrome for a short while and then spontaneously recovers. Typically, if locked in syndrome occurred due to a vascular problem (eg stroke) you either make a dramatic recovery within the first two weeks, or you remain in locked in syndrome indefinitely. In contrast, if the cause was non-vascular (eg a head injury) you typically see more intermediate recovery months afterwards. Overall, the prognosis is better for non-vascular locked in syndrome.

This can usually be done in your home, and involves connecting yourself to a small, battery-operated computer that monitors your breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure overnight. What are the five stages of sleep and their functions?

The five stages of sleep are these: Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 and 4 are combined into one stage and are called slow wave sleep, and REM sleep.

The truth is, no one quite knows the exact function of sleep. There are many theories, but sleep remains a mystery to us. One theory says that it may be to conserve energy. The truth is, that not all of our body rests while we are sleeping. During parts of the night, blood flow to the brain increases and certain parts of the brain actually become more active, such as the pons in the brainstem. All we know for sure is that without sleep, we are not able to function properly.

What does not occur during a narcoleptic sleep episode?

Truly "deep" sleep does not occur during REM sleep. REM sleep is when you are dreaming. It is deeper than light sleep, but not as far down in unconsciousness as "deep" sleep.
