Suzuki Motorcycles

Japanese multinational corporation Suzuki started producing motorcycles in 1952. The first models it produced were motorized bicycles. Some notable Suzuki motorcycles include Hayabusa (GSX-1300R), Burgman, RGV250,  GSX-R750, GSX-R750 and GSX-650F.

Will a 25hp two stroke pull a tube good on a 14 ft aluminum boat?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

yes it will. it will be a lot easier with a smaller tube and smaller rider but as long as the tube is designed to be pulled (ie flat bottom, not open tube) you will be just fine.

PORT TIMING DIAGRAM FOR 2S ENGINE

Aim :

To draw the port timing diagram of given two stroke cycle petrol engine .

Apparatus Required :

1. Two stroke petrol engine

2. Measuring tape

3. Chalk

Theory and Description :

In the case of two stroke cycle engines the inlet and exhaust valves are not present . Instead , the slots are cut on the cylinder itself at different elevation and they are called ports. There are three ports are present in the two stroke cycle engine .

1. Inlet port

2. Transfer port

3. Exhaust port

The diagram which shows the position of crank at which the above ports are open and close are called as port timing diagram.

The extreme position of the piston at the bottom of the cylinder is called " Bottom Dead centre " [BDC] . The extreme position of the piston at the top of the cylinder is called "TOP dead centre " [TDC ]

In two stroke petrol engine the inlet port open when the piston moves from BDC to TDC and is closed when the piston moves from TDC to BDC .

The transfer port is opened when the piston is moved from TDC to BDC and the fuel enters into the cylinder through this transport from the crank case of the engine . The transfer port is closed when piston moves from BDC to TDC . The transfer port opening and closing are measured with respect to the BDC .

The exhaust port is opened , when the piston moves from TDC to BDC and is closed when piston moves from BDC to TDC . The exhaust port opening and closing are measured with respect to the BDC.

Procedure :

1. Remove the ports cover and identify the three ports .

2. Mark the TDC and BDC position of the fly wheel . To mark this position follow the same procedure as followed in valve timing diagram .

3. Rotate the flywheel slowly in usual direction (usually clockwise ) and observe the movement of the piston

4. When the piston moves from BDC to TDC observe when the bottom edge of the piston . Just uncover the bottom end of the inlet port . This is the inlet port opening (IPO) condition , make the mark on the flywheel and measure the distance from TDC

5. When piston moves from TDC to BDC observe when the bottom edge of the piston completely covers the inlet port . This is the inlet port closing (IPC) condition . Make the mark on the flywheel and measure the distance from TDC .

6. When the piston moves from TDC to BDC , observe , when the top edge of the piston just uncover the exhaust port . This is the exhaust port opening [EPO] condition . Make the mark on the flywheel and measure the distance from BDC .

7. When the piston moves from BDC to TDC , observe , when the piston completely cover the exhaust port ,. This is the exhaust port closing condition [EPC] . Make the mark on the flywheel and measure the distance from BDC .

8. When the piston moves from TDC to BDC observe, when the top edge of the piston just uncover the transfer port . This is the transfer port opening [TPO] condition . Make the mark on the flywheel and measure the distance from BDC

9. When the piston moves from BDC to TDC , observe , when the piston completely covers the transfer port. This is the transfer port closing [TPC] condition . Make the mark on the flywheel and measure the distance from BDC .

Note : 1. The inlet port opening distance and closing distance from TDC are equal .

2. The exhaust port opening distance and closing distance from BDC are equal .

3. The transfer port opening distance and closing distance from BDC are equal .

Result :

The port timing diagram for the given two stroke cycle petrol engine was drawn.

How do you change oil in Suzuki Bandit?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Oil cooled Bandits (600, 650 and 1200, up to 2007 model year):

- Warm up the engine to the operating temperature. It's necessary for the quicker and more thorough draining of the oil.

- Remove the oil filler cap.

- Remove the oil drain plug (pay attention to the thread direction - the plug is upside-down) and drain the oil. The engine and oil are hot, so take adequate precautions to avoid burns.

- Remove the oil filter. If it was installed too tight and you don't have the filter wrench you can drive a sharp screwdriver through the filter and use it as a handle.

- Install the new oil filter. Smear some oil over the rubber gasket and tighten by hand only.

- Reinstall the oil drain plug. Replace the crush washer if it's worn and do not over-tighten the plug.

- Pour new oil through the filler hole. Use a long narrow funnel or make one out of cardboard.

Oil capacity (GSF1200):

Engine oil, without filter.............3.3L (3.5 US/2.9 /IMP Qt)

With filter.................................3.5L (3.7 US/3.1 /IMP Qt)

Engine overhaul........................4.6L (4.9 US/4.0 /IMP Qt)

- Replace the oil filler cap.

- Run the engine for a while. This is necessary to distribute the oil throughout the engine.

- Check oil level and add more oil if necessary. Oil level is checked while the bike is vertical with you sitting on it and both wheels on the ground (not on the center stand). If you check oil level while on the center stand, do not fill to more than 1/3 of the oil check window (the level goes up by about 1/3 to 1/2 when the bike is on the wheels).

The previous answer was apparently for the water cooled engine. I cannot confirm it's accuracy:

You must remove the radiator hose to get the filter out. It states this in the manual. That's why I sold mine. Then remove the tank and refill the radiator.

Why are two strokes faster than four strokes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Both types go through four phases: intake, compression, expansion and exhaust.

A 4-stroke needs two turns of the crankshaft to do this while a 2-stroke can do it in one turn of the crank.

And since it's only the expansion phase that makes power, being able to make power at every turn as opposed to every 2nd turn means a 2-stroke can make more power for the same size engine, or the same amount of power from a smaller engine.

The cost of this is that they tend to pollute more, and have less torque at low rpms.

Why does my motorcycle backfire when turning it off?

It could have to do with the fuel mix or your exhaust might not have enough back pressure, i.e. too short, or not enough muffling.

Are kawasaki motorcyles two stroke or four stroke?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Assuming you are referring to a street legal motorcycle (IE: Kawaski Vulcan, Ninja, etc.) these machines have four stroke engines.

Dirt Bikes and such sometimes do not.

Two-stroke engines generally use a fuel+oil mixture. (Such as a weed whacker)

Four stroke engines generally have an oil sump. (Like a car)

How do you tell if is a 4 stroke or a 2 stroke?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Look at exhaust, lots of two strokes have what's called a "fatty pipe" which is bigger, also by the sounds, four strokes are more deep and low pitch when 2s are high pitch and make a popping sound at idle. You can also look for a separate oil tank holding 2 stroke oil, if carb goes to bottom end of engine instead of to the head like in 4 strokes, and if any thing, smell the exhaust, if it smells like oil, smokey it's a 2s (or piece of crap 4s)

Where is the ignition serial number on a 1982 suzuki gs1100 I lost my key and I need to get another one but I need the serail number on the ignition switch?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Hi, the key code on on the alloy block the key barrel fits into. the block is held on by 2 allen bolts, remove these and take the ign switch block out. when you look at the block you will see a square pin on the side of the block and around that surface you will find the 4 digit pin. i suggest you use paint stripper to remove the paint if the number is not visable. DO NOT USE ANY WIRE BRUSHES, just some q-tips and a rag.
