Can an insurer offer an appearance allowance to an insured on a first party property claim?
Yes, but you do not have to accept it. I am unsure of your situation but in reference to a vehicle this is often done when the damage is very minor, but the replace / repair would be costly or difficult. If the vehicle is approaching a total loss (meaning the cost of the repair would out weigh the cost to replace, roughly around 80 % of the value of the vehicle) an appearance allowance may be made to reduce the repair figure and there for save the vehicle from being totalled. Another form applies to home owner's insurance where a personal belonging I.E. television, refrigerator sustains minor damage. When and item is still a working piece with slight damage to its appearance, a good compromise short of replacement is possible. Many times the damage is quite insignificant, but is still apparent to the owner. This is an ideal situation for saving money and the customer benefits for their loss with the receipt of money.

Why would men fight for Harold godwinson?
The nobles would fight for Harold because he was their king and the most powerful man in England who would reward them if successful; the same reason for his bodyguard.
The ordinary men would fight for Harold because he was English, as they were. The idea of joining the army of a foreign invader who spoke a totally different language would not have occurred to them.
Why was the Battle of Hastings on a hill?
The battle of Hastings was on a hill because Harold set up his army in that tactical position. Behind the hill was a dense wood that nobody could go through and in front of the hill the Normans would have to climb up. It was Harold's desicion.

How did the events of 1066 change England and her history?
William II of Normandy, AKA William the Conquerer, invaded England with an army of Normans, Bretons, and French, defeating Harold II at the Battle of Hastings and ending Anglo-Saxon rule.
The English elite had their lands and titles confiscated; some fled into exile in Scotland, Ireland, Scandinavia, and the Byzantine Empire. The elite among William's followers were rewarded with castles and land (as noted in the Domesday Book), and Norman French became the language of the government, courts, and upper classes. In the church, senior English office holders were either replaced with Normans immediately or when they died. There appears to have been a formal elimination of slavery, which may or may not have been because of the invasion, but otherwise there was little change to the structure of government.

What memory did Harold Godwinson make in summer 1066?
Harold Godwinson is better known as King Harold II, and was the last of the true Anglo-Saxon Kings of England. He succeeded his father Godwin as monarch on 4th January 1066, but ruled for less than a year before being killed attempting to repel the Norman Invasion at the Battle of Hastings on 4th October the same year.
He died after being shot through the eye by a Norman infantry archer, and was about 60 years old- he is one of only 3 English kings to have died in battle, the others being Richards I and III.
The site of his death on Hastings battlefield later became the location of Battle Abbey. His exact burial place is not known, but is thought to be either Waltham Abbey in Essex, or Bosham Church on the coast near Chichester in West Sussex. There is strong evidence to support the theory that the latter is his true burial place- a coffin was discovered there in 1954 containing the remains of an Anglo-Saxon man missing his head, one leg and the lower part of his other leg, injuries consistent with accounts given at the time of the Invasion and also supporting the statement by contemporary chronicler William Poitier that Harold was buried by the sea. The remains were reburied, but the Diocese of Chichester refuses to allow them to be re-exhumed for DNA testing to prove that the remains are, indeed, King Harold's.
How did William get help by winning the Battle of Hastings?
William was the Duke of Normandy. A number of factors helped him to win the battle of Hastings on 14 October 1066.
The foremost of the reasons for why William won at Hastings was the fact Harold II of England was killed first. William fought on a horse and was at one stage thought dead by his own men, famously proving he wasn't be removing his helmet. Harold was fighting on foot in the shield-wall. When he was injured by an arrow and incapacitated he was unable to direct his forces. When he was killed by a Norman knight not long afterwards his forces routed. If William had died before Harold the Norman forces would have been defeated.
Other reasons for the English defeat include tactics; the Normans used cavalry and fired arrows into the air which fell and landed on the English ranks. The English persisted in fighting a rigid defence in a shield-wall formation. The English right flank was greatly weakened when, thinking the Normans were retreating, pursued them down Senlac Hill but were then destroyed by Norman cavalry counter-charges.
Another reason for the English losing was fatigue. The bulk of the English army had been forced to march twice the length of England in the space of a three weeks. Almost as soon as they had arrived at York to fight Harold Hardrada of Norway on September 25 were they forced to march back to the south-coast to meet William. The English army was demoralised, exhausted and depleted.
The final reason is that during the battle almost the whole English nobility was killed. Without high born to lead them the remaining forces, which might have regrouped after the battle, instead melted away.

What was Williams tactic in the Battle of Hastings?
Williams tactic was the trick that when he couldn't fight Harolds army up hill, even though he had a better army, he pretenddeed to retreat. A similar trick had been used by Harold to defeat Harald Haadrada so he should have guessed it was a trick but he didn't... His army fell for it and this led to thier defeat for when they cased after the Normans, th eNormans swiftly turned round and killed them all.
