What birth defects can Xanax cause?

I took Xanax during my pregnancy with my first child. He has been late on every milestone, and is now almost 3 years old and still not talking, not saying any words at all, and he has never mimicked anything like other babies do.

I do not know for sure that this is a birth defect caused by Xanax, but there is no other reason he would be having these issues.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Birth defects are actual things that are wrong with the body, not lack of keeping up developmentally with other children.

When you are pregnant are symptoms like feeling bloated and sore breasts continuous during the first trimester or just a few days at a time then nothing for a few weeks then another week yes?

It was my experience (three times) that it was continuous. At least the sore breasts. I don't really recall a bloated feeling per se. But pregnancy symptoms are different for each pregnancy for each woman. If you think you may be pregnant, you should take a test. They can be bought at a dollar store, so you don't have to spend a lot of money.

Can women feel movement in their first trimester with twins?

No it's usually not until around 16 weeks, same as with one baby.

Can cough medicine taken during the first trimester harm the developing fetus?

Even over-the-counter drugs are just that, "drugs." Before even taking an aspirin or anything for a cold, all you have to do is phone the pharmacist and tell them you are pregnant and can you take cough syrup. They will usually recommend a brand for you. Congratulations Marcy The doctor will usually recommend robitussin for cough and chest congestion, and sudafed for nasal but always check with your doctor first since all drugs do essentially run through your blood and body and do get to the fetus in some way shape or form if you can make it without the drugs then do it try the shower soothers out by sudafed or a hot cup of tea ....also this worked great for me when I was pregnant and congested and had a horrible cold turn the shower on as hot as you can let the bathroom fill with steam and sit in there the steam helps break up the congestion hope this helps a little bit Good Luck and God Bless!!!

Can cold medicine harm an embryo?

The short answer is yes, cough and cold medicine can potentially harm a human embryo or fetus.

In the first trimester of pregnancy, taking any kind of drug is strongly discouraged because of the sensitive nature of a developing fetus. Unless either your life or the life of the fetus is threatened, avoid any drugs not prescribed by your doctor. Most drugs and medications will pass from your blood through the placenta and into the fetus, so it's very important that you speak to your Prenatal Physician before taking anything.

If you're suffering from a cold or a cough during pregnancy, there are ways to nurse yourself to health without the use of drugs that could harm your baby. Some ways you can shorten the duration of a cold (pregnant or not) without the use of drugs include the use of a humidifier, saline spray for a stuffy nose, gargling warm salt water for an itchy throat, and of course, chicken soup and plenty of rest.

Three months pregnant and am feeling so sick?

Poor you. I do sympathize. It is awful.

For most women, it gets a lot better by 14-16 weeks, but I know that can seem a long way away when you are having to cope with that awful feeling.

I expect you know that it helps to eat little and often, avoid greasy foods, and not to let your stomach get too empty, or you will feel worse.

If you can only face certain foods, eat them and don't worry too much about healthy eating and vitamins and so on until you feel better. Your baby will be getting his or her nourishment from you anyway.

It's all normal, of course, and even if you are being sick too that's normal, but its horrible, and make sure that you take lots of little drinks of water so that you don't get dehydrated.

Hugs and sympathy
