Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) tend to be the best times to visit since the weather is perfect for sightseeing then. If you don't mind heat and aiming more for sun and bath then mid-May to September is great as well.

Here's the reason why Turkey is called Turkey. Well actually the word "Turkey" (country) came from England. The English said it was too hard to pronounce the word Turkiye I mean all you have to say is "turk-ee-air." That's what I hate about those pesky English fools. They think they have the right to say any word their way! Especially if it's with Turkiye! My country I came from! The word is actually Turkiye (Tur-kee-yeah). So that's why Turkiye is called Turkey.

The question is not very clear but what can be said it that the Asian part of Turkey is called Anadolu (Anatolia) which is a huge peninsula surrounded by the Black, Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean Seas.

No its not 3rd world country, turkey has had many political problems but in the past 20 years the country has improved itself in many ways. i have lived in many European countries as well as turkey and i confidently can say turkey is just as nice as Europe. the only difference between Europe and turkey are the mosques . you see mosques all over turkey, woman with scarf is same as Germany :)

Geographic Answer
European and Asian Turkey are separated by three bodies of water, from north to south:

Bosporus Strait which starts at the Black Sea on Turkey's northern coast and then runs down through Istanbul at its southern end (separating neighborhoods like Sultanahmet and Beyoğlu on the European side from Üsküdar).

Sea of Marmara which is a small sea between Istanbul and the Gallipoli Peninsula. The island of Marmara in the sea was used by Romans as a marble quarry. Since Marmara is the Latin word for marble, the term was applied to island and the sea in general. Europe is to the north and west of the Sea of Marmara and Asia is to south and west.

Dardanelles Strait which starts at the Sea of Marmara as it narrows between Anatolia and the Gallipoli Peninsula and then runs down to the city of Çanakkale on the Aegean Sea.
