The point to actual spoilage is uncertain and will depend on a number of variables, including whether or not it is cooked, the bacterial load to begin with, how it has been handled, the temperature at which it is stored (there are hot and cold spots in the fridge) and how it is packaged.
Raw turkey should be cooked within a couple days of thawing from frozen. If it is purchased fresh, use within a couple days or follow label guidelines.

As long as you put it in plastic wrap and put in a glad container and you will be able to thaw it out and cook it whenever you want to.

What should you do with your turkey?
Good question! If you have a turkey this is a very important question.
First determine what state your turkey is in:
1. Live
2. Fresh
3. Frozen
And how much turkey weight you have.
If your turkey is in State #1 (Live) have a butcher get it to one of the other two states.
If your turkey is frozen, thaw in the refrigerator twelve hours for every five pounds. A twenty pound turkey should stay in the refrigerator for two days.
If you turkey is fresh, wash the bird well, being sure to find and remove the neck, liver, gizzard and heart if tucked inside the bird. Dry the turkey. Sprinkle with salt and pepper inside and outside. You can rub the turkey with butter or olive oil if you wish.
Pre-heat the oven to 350 and be prepared to cook the turkey for 12-13 minutes a pound. If you wish you can pre-heat to 450 and lower the oven to 350 when you put the bird it the oven. This hot oven pre-cook will crisp the skin. But don't leave it at 450 be sure to set the oven at 350 overall for cooking the bird. If you leave the oven at 450 you will turn the bird into a cinder and you don't want that.
When the bird is done. Take it out of the oven and test the temperature with a meat thermometer.The breast should show at least 195 and the thigh at least 165 degrees. Let the bird rest about 15 to 30 minutes before slicing.
After slicing off everything that looks good to eat. Put the carcass in a boiling pot of water and cook it for two hours or so at a boil. You will be making turkey stock from which you can make turkey soup.
