How many square miles is the area around the earth where satellites orbit?
Any object can remain in orbit around the earth indefinitely, at any distance from the earth's surface, so long as it remains above any part of the atmosphere thick enough to slow it down. Long duration orbiting behavior is possible anywhere above about 220 kilometers (140 miles) above the surface, out to millions of miles.
The International Space Station orbits at a nearly constant altitude of about 240 kilometers. TV satellites orbit at a distance of about 22,400 miles. The moon ... earth's only natural satellite, orbits at an average distance of about 238,000 miles.
Rather than ask for a description of the region in which satellites CAN operate, it would be much more informative to talk about the region where satellites CAN'T operate. It's much smaller.

How much energy is emitted by the sun per hour per unit area on earth?
The "solar constant"... the solar power per unit area at the earth's distance from the sun ...
varies with time over a small range, because of several different influences. To answer this
question, we'll pick a reasonable average number ... 1.4 kilowatts per square meter. That
number represents total power from the sun at all wavelengths, not only visible light, arriving
at the top of the atmosphere, before any of it is absorbed by the air.
1 watt = 1 joule per second
1 hour = 3,600 seconds
1.4 kilowatts = 1,400 joules per second = (1,400 x 3,600) = 5.04 million joules per hour, per square meter
Why don't people believe in UFOs?
Because people have been brainwashed in their set religious ways. There are many reasons why people don't believe in magic. Many people have unrealistic expectations of what magic actually is. Hollywood and various other stereotypes have distorted the view of what magic is in people's eyes. With the rise of organized religions, especially Christianity, magic was deemed to be evil. From youth people are exposed to many negative or incorrect images floating around of what magic is. Witches are portrayed as evil, ugly women who practice magic by casting spells on the innocent. They are said to sacrifice animals and worship the devil. Though this couldn't be further from the truth, these stereotypes are what people grow up with and often times this affects their perception of magic. Also, people watch magicians perform "magic" and people get it into their head that being able to make a salt and pepper shaker disappear is really what magic is about. In today's world science and logic are the tools to solving problems. Science tells us what occurs and why it occurs. Logic is a tool used by scientists to explain why things occur. Magic is usually deemed to be paranormal. It usually isn't seen as being scientific. Often times people won't believe in magic since scientists can't explain it. Plus if people don't truly understand what real magic is, how can they truly believe in it? Ask a random person if they believe in ghosts. Often times people will say no, but then tell that person to go into a haunted house and they will most certainly refuse. Why? Because people are afraid of the unknown. Magic still is very unknown to people and some are afraid of it because of stereotypes.

Would it be a good thing if aliens came to earth?
Well it depends on what they were like and the opinion of the general public. One it could be a great thing if they were more advanced than us so we could make a huge leap in technology. But this could also be negative because anything with agriculture could lead to mutation in our crops. With weapons the good side would be increase safety but there would also be more deaths in wars, more crime and more world tension. There's always the possibility of heavy racism or even a genocide. This could also provoke WWIII. So in all it would be mixed.
That's your choice. Some people believe there are and others think it nonsense because they don't have proof to back it up.
