Also, people watch magicians perform "magic" and people get it into their head that being able to make a salt and pepper shaker disappear is really what magic is about. In today's world science and logic are the tools to solving problems. Science tells us what occurs and why it occurs. Logic is a tool used by scientists to explain why things occur. Magic is usually deemed to be paranormal. It usually isn't seen as being scientific. Often times people won't believe in magic since scientists can't explain it. Plus if people don't truly understand what real magic is, how can they truly believe in it? Ask a random person if they believe in ghosts. Often times people will say no, but then tell that person to go into a haunted house and they will most certainly refuse. Why? Because people are afraid of the unknown. Magic still is very unknown to people and some are afraid of it because of stereotypes.
