a fetus can medically survive from 24 weeks, so theorectically can survivve then on, so at 31 weeks would stand a better chance than a 24 week fetus, however this does depend on the circumstances surronding the birth, mothers medical history and wellness of the baby, no one will give 100% survival rate even to a full term baby.
Yes very accurate. I personally have never heard of a mistake due to ultra sound. Also scientifically it is impossible to be inaccurate.
What do you see at four weeks in an ultrasound?
Honestly not much. At four weeks the ultrasound tech will mostly likely detect nothing more than what looks like a small black bubble inside your uterus. The baby is still so microscopically tiny that the most you may see will be a tiny grain of rice. It's still even hard to see anything at week 5 or 6. Your doctor will most likely send you for your first ultrasound around week 8 or 9 to see the location of your pregnancy in your uterus, and to determine how many fetuses are present. You won't be able to see much real detail in the fetus via ultrasound until around week 12 or so. That's when you can start seeing bones, individual organs, etc. If you do end up having an ultrasound earlier than week 8 or so, you might be able to see the flutter of the baby's heart...but yeah, week 4 isn't all that exciting :-)
Can a pelvic ultrasound show a block fallopian tube?

A pelvic ultrasound carries what risk?

Why is cephalization important to the evolution of animals?
Cephalization is a process of formation of distinct head.It was first seen in the group Platyhelminthes. The anterior part of the body first enters into a new environment.Hence a need for development of special modification was required to sense the new environment. Therefore head was developed in the mean period of evolution, with sensory organs,to detect dangers,to detect the prey for feed, search for suitable mates...etc.Hence without cephalization,it is not that easy to survive in the environment.
Can you drink black coffee before a pancreatic ultrasound?
In general black coffee is safe before any procedure,
unless total fluid input is a part of what they're testing.
It's really just water as far as your body is concerned ... unless you're exceptional sensitive to caffeine (I did run across one poor soul who had convulsions after only 4 cups .... but that's rare.)
How much water should you drink when exercising for one hour?
Before exercise: Drink one to cups (eight to 16 ounces) of fluid two hours before exercise to make sure you are well hydrated. Then drink another one-half to one cup immediately before exercise. During exercise: Drink one-half to one cup every 15 to 20 minutes during exercise. Although this might seem tough at first, once you schedule it into your regular training routine, you will quickly adapt to having fluid in your stomach. In fact, the fuller your stomach is, the faster it will empty. After exercise: Replace any fluid you have lost. Drink two cups of fluid for every pound of body weight you lose during exercise. In hot, humid weather, you need to drink more than usual. (But do not forget that dehydration also occurs during cold weather exercise
What do you call a person who does ultrasound?
They are not technically doctors. They are called sonographers or ultrasound techs.
How can you tell approximatly how far along you are in your pregnancy without going to the doctor?
If you have had positive pregnancy tests GO TO THE DOCTOR! Babies (and their moms) don't do well with no or little prenatal treatment! On second hand if you are pondering if you are pregnant or something of that nature.. you can go by the time of conception if you know when it was and just count it up. Or you can go from your last period. Most women conceive / are fertile from about 10-14 days after the first daay of their last period. So if you count it that way you should be pretty accurate. Despite the 9 months cliche' a pregnancy actually lasts for 40 weeks or 280 days which turns out to be 10 months but since there are 5 weeks in some of the months the duration of the 40 weeks is stretched over 9 months. If you don't want to calculate it yourself go to any of the baby web sites such as baby center or baby zone and they have pregnancy calculators.... you just have to know your due date or time you conceived. It also gives you week by week pregnancy info on you, your body, and your baby's health and development! Hope this helps! Pam

What stage in pregnancy can you tell the sex?
Sometimes you can at the second round of ultrasounds (bout 18-20wks) but there are no guarantees that the baby will be in the right position to see or whether what the ultrasound person says is correct - it just a good educated guess.
Is it uncommon to miscarry after you hear a fetal heartbeat?
No, if you are under a lot of stress or you can lift on something heavy and tear the placenta from the wall or any trauma to the abdomen can cause you to miscarry. It is more common to miscarry before you see/hear a heartbeat.
How early will a transvaginal ultrasound detect pregnancy?
Home Tests - Urine
Pregnancy can be discovered very early on with some of the new pregnancy tests. Some home tests can detect a pregnancy within days of conception however the further into the pregnancy the more accurate the test. The accuracy of the test relies heavily on detection of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG)and the amount that is released. This hormone is not released until implantation of the blastocyst in the uterine wall which usually occurs around day 6-12, still the amount of hCG may be too weak to detect at this stage but not impossible. False negatives are very common at this stage (prior to a missed menstruation) therefore it is suggested that if you test negative to test again in another week or two. A positive result at this point is rarely false.
Laboratory Tests
Detection of pregnancy can occur within 48 hours of conception using more complicated testing methods, usually performed at a laboratory. These tests are generally considered cost prohibitive.

It is possible to experience bleeding during early pregnancy. However a normal period like bleed is usually not related to pregnancy.
Yes. though not common, you can still have your period while pregnant. Go to your doctor, health clinic, or take a pregnancy test to confirm. If you are pregnant, you will need prenatal care.
Can ultrasounds tell if something is a fluid-filled cyst?
Yes. Ultrasound is good at detecting and identifying fluid filled sacs such as cysts.
Not really. Babies grow at pretty precise rates and therefore conception is pretty easy to answer at this early in your pregnancy. You are more likely to have your dates mixed up or that you conceived at a different time than you thought. Yes the date could be off a bit but ultrasound dates are usually pretty clear and accurate on dating embryos. Its all down to the measurements taken of the embryo and last period etc, that give a estimate of the conception date. When an ultrasound shows you are 7 weeks pregnant it actually means you are 5 weeks from conception. Pregnancy is on average 40 weeks from the start of the last period. This is because in the days before ultrasound this was the only date we knew. You don't actually conceive until 2 weeks after this date.
What is the date of conception when an ultrasound says you are 9 weeks 5 days on September 5?
The approximate date of conception was September 15th
Why do you feel your heartbeat in your ears at times?
Those are called pulse points, the contracting of the beating heart is what is being felt. It is called tactile arterial palpation and it can be felt any place that an artery can be compressed against a bone; at the wrist (radial artery) on the inside of the elbow (brachial artery), groin (femoral artery) in the neck (carotid artery) and pedal pulses in the top of the foot.
The rate of the pulse is observed and measured by tactile (touching the pulse point) or visual means (observing the twitch that can be seen on the outside of an artery) and is recorded as BPM (beats per minute) or called the pulse.
