Why did they choose nagasaki for dropping the atomic bomb?
At the end of World War II, few questioned Truman's decision to drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Most Americans accepted the obvious reasoning: the atomic bombings brought the war to a more timely end. They did not have a problem with over one hundred thousand of the enemy being killed. After all, the Japanese attacked America, and not the other way around. In later years, however, many have begun to question the conventional wisdom of "Truman was saving lives," putting forth theories of their own. However, when one examines the issue with great attention to the results of the atomic bombings and compares these results with possible alternatives to using said bombs, the line between truth and fiction begins to clear. Truman's decision to use the atomic bomb on Japan was for the purpose of saving lives and ending the war quickly in order to prevent a disastrous land invasion.
Why did scienitsts walk off the Manhattan project?
The scientists did not "give up" on the Manhattan Project. They accomplished their goals of developing three atom bombs. The Project ended at the end of the war. The workers went home and much of the "little towns" were taken down. There was no need for the project to continue after the war. It cost 2 billion dollars back then to create the three bombs so the government would not fund it any further when there was no need for further work.

Who entered the US into World War 2?
On President Franklin D. Roosevelt's recommendation, the US Congress declared war on Japan on December 8, 1941, following the Japanese attack on the US fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Because of their treaty with Japan, Germany declared war on the US on December 11.
The US had been directly and indirectly aiding Britain and Russia (against Germany) and China (against Japan).
Who was the US ambassador to the Soviet Union during world war 2?
There were multiple. The war ran from 1939 to 1945. So the list goes:
There is usually a brief period between ambassadors where it takes time for the President to nominate someone, the Senate approves them, and then the ambassador gets his paperwork in order and assumes his duties. It was several months between Steinhardt (who ended his service in Nov 1941) and Standley (who assumed office in April 1942). I can't say for sure why it took so long, but I'm guessing it's because the Japanese attacked the US in December 1941 and the US joined World War II.

What is the b-17 long-range bomber nicknamed in world war 2?
B-17 is an American bomber (flying fortress). The Germans had other models of aircrafts.
Of the American B-17s, the Memphis Belle is the most famous, the first to survive twenty-five bombing missions. American fighter pilots were required to fly fifty missions, and American bomber crews were required to fly twenty-five.
Many B-17s crash landed in German held territory. So the Germans had several captured B-17s. These were used for training German pilots. Allied pilots reported seeing unmarked B-17s shadowing bomber formations just out of range of the allied guns. These were believed to crewed by Luftwaffe personnel.
The mission requirements for bomber crews was raised from 25 to 30 as the war progressed and experienced crews were needed to continue the air offensive against Germany. Fighter pilots mission requirements were measured in "combat hours". The requirement being set at 200 combat hours.

What makes up the US armed forces?
In general military forces are made up of the citizens of a nation who either volunteer to serve in their forces or are conscripted to serve in the forces.
In the US the forces are made up of the enlisted and the commissioned officers and the Secretary of the Armed Forces and the Chief (the President of the US).
In the United Kingdom the Royal Forces belong to the Queen of the kingdom and are responsible to her or the King when there is one. The forces consist of enlisted people and the officers and the Admiralty.
In Israel the forces are conscripted and there are those who enlist. They too have enlisted, conscripted and commissioned officers.
During World War 2 there were also drafted/conscripted men in the forces because they needed millions of men for all the forces. After the Viet Nam War the US chose to have only enlisted personnel and commissioned officers but they reserved the right to enact the draft again if it was necessary. The men have to register for the draft even though they may not ever be drafted.
Military forces consist of Naval forces, Aviation forces such as the US Air Force or the Royal Air Force, Army forces, Marine forces, recon forces (special forces), Coast Guard forces, and some countries have special intelligence forces.
All these military type forces have their own structures and units. Some countries only have one military because they are too small a country or too poor.
Why did Hitler declare war on US in World War 2?
Germany declared war on the United States to honor its pact with Japan. Since Japan had actually attacked the United States, Germany did not actually have to declare war. Through the lend-lease program, the United States was also giving support to Great Britain, against whom Germany was at war; so the United States was definitely aiding a country that Germany was at war with.
It was in response to the US declaring war on Japan after the attacks on Pearl Harbor.
Germany & Italy declared war on the United States on December 11, 1941. This was four days after the Japanese began their surprise attacks to start war with the United States & the British Empire (Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada & South Africa).
On 27 September 1940 Japan joined Hitler & Mussolini in a military (cooperation) alliance called the 'Tripartite Pact', or the 'Axis' as it was called in Britain & US. However, Japan is not obligated to go to war with the current enemies of Germany and Italy. The three parties announce that they will declare war on any third party that attempts to enter the war against any one of the three. This is primarily aimed at the United States, to prevent America's entry into the war in Europe and prevent American interference in Asia. Although the Pact specifically excludes the USSR in its relations with Germany or Japan, Hitler's goal is to have Japan join in the war against Stalin when the time comes. Japan will successfully resist these urgings throughout the next five years.
By late 1941, Hitler was eager for war with the United States. This is because the United States (officially a neutral country) had become increasingly more friendly towards Britain and hostile towards Germany, during Hitler's war of aggression in Europe. By May 1940 it became clear to US President Roosevelt that Hitler's Germany was a dangerous threat to the United States, and that the US should do everything possible (short of war) to support Great Britain and her allies in their desperate struggle against Hitler. Most of the outward hostility centered around shipments of supplies & equipment to Great Britain from the United States & Canada across the North Atlantic Ocean. This situation was like a repeat of events during the First World War, where German U-Boats attacked all shipping in the Atlantic destined for the British Isles.
Hitler knew of his ally Japan's intentions to attack the US & Britain, but not when. When the Japanese attacks on the US & Britain were announced, Hitler rushed back to Berlin to prepare a Declaration of War against the US. His declaration also included a statement of solidarity with Japan & Italy and a 'no-separate peace' phrase. He wanted to make this declaration public before the US would declare war on Germany. However, President Roosevelt had no immediate intention of initiating the war against Germany, for practical moral & public relations reasons.
For Hitler's announced reasons for war, see below the actual text of the German announcement of its declaration of war, given to the US Charge d'Affairs in Berlin on December 11, 1941:
"The of the United States having violated in the most flagrant manner and in ever-increasing measure all rules of neutrality in favor of the adversaries of Germany and having continually been guilty of the most severe provocations toward Germany and since the outbreak of the European war, provoked by the British declaration of war against Germany on September 3, 1939, has finally resorted to open military acts of aggression.
On September 11, 1941, the President of the United States publicly declared that he had ordered the American Navy and Air Force to shoot on sight at any German war vessel. In his speech of October 27, 1941, he once more expressly affirmed that this order was in force. Acting under this order, vessels of the American Navy, since early September 1941, have systematically attacked German naval forces. Thus, American destroyers, as for instance the Greer, the Kearny and the Rueben James, have opened fire on German submarines according to plan. The Secretary of the American Navy, Mr. Knox, himself confirmed that American destroyers attacked German submarines.
Furthermore, the naval forces of the United States, under order of their Government and contrary to international law have treated and seized German merchant vessels on the high seas as enemy ships.
The German Government therefore establishes the following facts:
Although Germany on her part has strictly adhered to the rules of international law in her relations with the United States during every period of the present war, the Government of the United States from initial violations of neutrality has finally proceeded to open acts of war against Germany. The Government of the United States has thereby virtually created a state of war.
The German Government, consequently, discontinues diplomatic relations with the United States of America and declares that under these circumstances brought about by President Roosevelt, Germany too, as from today, considers herself as being in a state of war with the United States of America.
Accept, Mr. Charge d'Affairs, the expression of my high consideration."
The United States declared war on Germany & Italy on December 11, 1941, after they had declared war on the US.

Why did US develop an atomic bomb?
To end WWII without the potential loss of many American military lives which would have occurred in Japan was invaded. The Japanese military was brainwashed into suicidal acts rather than surrender to an enemy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually the US did NOT develop the atomic bomb for use against Japan, it was developed to make sure we got it before Nazi Germany! If Hitler had gotten nuclear weapons there would have been no stopping him anywhere! We HADto try as hard as we could to see that we would have them before Hitler.
However Germany's nuclear project had, unknown the US, turned toward reactor development not bombs, so our fear was unfounded. Also Hitler and the Nazi's didn't trust this new nuclear physics, too many of its developers were Jews and it sounded a lot like "Jewish Physics" (which if you were found teaching it in a university could get you fired or shot).
By the time the US had its first atomic bomb Germany had already surrendered. So the motivation for developing it was gone. But the war wasn't.
The bomb ended up being used on Japan because:
