The Army uses many angles and incentives to entice people to join their ranks. These can include pay, college tuition, chances to travel, becoming the best you can be, and the medical, dental, and insurance benefits. Not to mention all of the patriotic pride and chances to serve your country.

Depends on your MOS. In you're in an MOS which has One Station Unit Training (such as Army infantry), you would simply continue on as you had before, since you do your Basic and AIT in one package. If you had to go to another post for your AIT, then you'd do that.

The 'shark attack' really establishes a baseline for many things to come in military basic training. Once you arrive at your site of training, the drill seargents need to establish authority, teach timely obedience, structure and show you that there will be punishments if you do not work together and rely on eachother. This method works extremely well in getting these points across.

There are many resources available to help you find state funded boot camps. You can contact your local schools or department of human resources and they can point you in the right direction. You can also contact the local police department or simply do an internet search.

Equipment needed for your job. (Vietnam War era) 1. A Grunt's (infantryman) combat gear is his rifle, grenades, pack, steel pot (M1 helmet), ammo and canteen(s). 2. A tank crewman's combat gear is his CVC and .45 pistol (then he climbs into his tank). CVC=Combat Vehicle Crewman helmet. 3. A pilot's combat gear would be his thigh map/note book, pen; flight gloves, helmet, survival knife, sidearm (pistol), flares, etc.

They test for pot, cocaine, amphetamines and at least two other drugs from a menu that's as long as your arm...and there's nothing that says they have to stop at two. They can, just because they feel like it, test you for 200 different drugs including alcohol and spice and throw you out of the Marines if they find any of them.

You can't. Set up automatic payments before you leave, or have somebody you trust do it for you such as a parent, sibling, wife, husband, etc.

1st Battalion makes men, 2nd Battalion makes Marines, and 3rd Battalion makes machines. Our old saying back in boot camp. Honestly though I would say drill. 1st has always had the best drill in my opinion and experience.

When they do the morning sick call, you step out of formation and go to sick call. From there, you usually go to the Troop Medical Clinic (in Army BCT.. other branches have their own names), and you get diagnosed and treated. Again, not a particularly big deal.

it depends when yours sent, gender and MOS. if you are OSUT (one station unit training) then you will do basic where your advance training is i.e. infantry-ft benning,GA. if you're a female you can only go to basic at either ft leonardwood, Mo or ft jackson, SC if your a male and not osut you can go to basic at either ft benning,GA , Ft leonardwood, MO, Ft, sill, OK , Ft jackson, Sc, Ft knox, KY

NO! When you arrive at the MCRD for boot camp you have not yet earned the privilege to wear the EGA, and your Drill Instructors will let you know that!

I remember a lot of waiting, reviewing paperwork, receiving my airline ticket and meal ticket, then being shipped to the airport. I think there was another drug screening done, as well. The night before, you'll stay in a hotel, and there'll be quite a lot which goes on there, none of which has anything to do with the actual enlistment process. From there, you fly to whichever airport.. if you have time to use your meal ticket, you can get food there. If not, you're just plain out of luck. The bus driver may or may not give you time to smoke a last cigarette before you get on the (civilian charter) bus, and, from there, you'll be transported to the Adjutant General battalion at whichever post you're attending BCT or OSUT at - typically at some time past midnight. You'll have your first encounter with a Drill Sergeant, you'll be shaken down for any contraband, you'll do more paperwork, you'll be taken to CIIP to be issued one set of PT uniform to get you out of civilian clothes and tide you over until you get your full uniform issue, you'll get something to eat at the DFAC, then you'll get a couple hours to sleep.

Yes, and their use depends on what segment of training you're going through. You won't be rushing towards objectives with basic trainees firing live rounds past you, or anything of that sort.
