All you need is a 4-year degree - the Navy has so many jobs that correlate to the civilian world that just about everything is covered. Even musicians and artists.

Of course it depends on what you want to do - Commissioned Line Officers (those who rise to command Naval vessels) typically have B.S. degrees in Engineering fields. But consider other fields as well - media, supply, medical, intelligence, etc. Pretty much anything you can get a job doing with your degree in the civilian world has a direct equal in the Navy, which is a big reason it's a great place for careers in either world.

The Marine Corps is not senior to the Navy, nor is the Navy senior to the Marine Corps. The USMC is a branch of the US Military under the jurisdiction of the Navy. Basically, the Marines conduct landing operations on coastal areas, working WITH the Navy, who mainly stays on the ships and in the air.

If however the question regards parade marching position, then yes, the Marine Corps does take precedence by tradition over the Navy.

as far as value it depends on condition i mean if it has obviously seen combat the value could be as low as 50-100 bucks but if it is in near mint to never been fired condition the value could be upwards of several thousands of dollars and that is just for the rifle

Your likely best option though is to search on Veteran's sites; virtually all Navy units have some type of online presence, and VX-6 Deep Freeze is no exception. I'd start with that page or the VX/VXE-6 Organization website.

Not much is known about his specific assignment or job, but Edward G. Robinson did in fact serve in the U.S. Navy at the outbreak of WWI when he was in his mid-20's.
