Why 4 pulmonary arteries are needed whereas there are only 2 pulmonary veins?
coz it leads to the lungs coz it leads to the lungs coz it leads to the lungs
Are their two arteries and one vein or two veins and one artery in the umbilical cord?
This is to facilitate the exchange of materials between foetus and placenta.
Right atrium
Tricuspid valve
Right Ventricle
Pulmonary semilunar valve
Pulmonary Artery
Lungs
Pulmonary Vein
Left atrium
Mitral/Bicuspid valve
Left ventricle
Atrioventricular valve
Aorta
AND TO THE REST OF THE BODY
What is the artery and vein that takes blood to and from the lungs?
The pulmonary trunk carries blood from the right ventricle of the heart, then splits into the left and right pulmonary arteries.
Answer: pulmonary trunk/left and right pulmonary arteries
What prevents backflow of blood in the heart?
valves in the veins.
AV (Atrioventricular) Tricuspid between the right atrium and ventricle, Bicuspid (Mitral) between the left atrium and ventricle,
Semilinar valves = pulmonic valve between the right ventricle and the pulmonary trunk, Aortic valve between the left ventricle and aorta
valves
Is it possible for blood in the veins to move backward away from the heart?
When a valve doesn't completely close such as in the disease Mitral valve stenosis blood is allowed to black flow and pool in chambers which makes the heart work less effectively.
Where can you pierce your tongue without hitting any veins?
That is simple, you don't. Only get your tongue pierced, or anything else pierced by a professional.
You have veins in your tongue, and if you puncture them you could bleed to death.
AnswerDon't do it...if you do it incorrectly you could bleed to death like that person above me said or your tongue can split and then you won't be able to talk...at least that's what I heard from my friend who has her tongue pierced.Answer:
You cannot bleed to death from a tongue piercing, unless of course you let your tonge drip blood for five days or so. You also cannot bifurcate your tongue by piercing it. You can however contaminate your tools from improper procedures and end up with a sever infection that could travel into the brain (as has happened to TWO people ever). Other risks include nerve damage and bleeding, but they are not as likely or dangerous as the infection. Just go to a professional.
ANOTHER ANSWER:Well, I'd say you probably wouldn't bleed to death... but it could be some serious bleeding and problems if you do it wrong. I've given people tips on self piercing before, though I think you should go to a professional, or at least an apprentice or someone with training... but I'm not going to tell you how to pierce your own tongue. Some piercings, I think, are ok to self pierce (if done properly with proper equipment... meaning NO SAFETY PINS, ETC!!) but I think a tongue piercing should be done by someone with much more knowledge of piercings than yourself or one of your friends.well i have mine sne and anit nothin rong wit it....omg i did my belly bii miself n mii ears
ANOTHER ANSWER:
actually i pierced my tongue myself, and it did nothing i have had it pierced now for four years, but you CAN bleed to death and paralyze half your face i do all my piercings myself!!!
you don't pierce it yourself you go to a reputable piercer and have them do it.
The reasons you should not attempt to pierce your self should be obvious, but for those who think it's a "DIY" project, here's some food for thought.
Infection and contraction of MRSA, HIV, Meningitis, Hepatitis and Tetanus are all very serious health issues, MRSA is an antibiotic resistant bacteria that can in most cases land the unlucky individual in the hospital (and has been responsible for serious deformities and deaths). These infections has been caused by using unsterilized equipment and materials. Sterilization is not achieved by pouring alcohol over needles and jewellery, or burning these items over a fire or exposed flame. Microorganisms live in the fine fissures and cracks in needles and jewellery and only the high temperature and pressure of a steam Autoclave can render these and many other bacteria harmless.
The above reasons alone should be enough to sway anyone from thinking they can do it themselves. Professional body piercers have years for hands on training and education to enable them to make any piercing "look simple", when in fact they are considering dozens of things when they lay out a piercing and actually do it. So consider your lack of knowledge, training and skills before you attempt to do any self piercing, once you pierce it, it's damaged tissue. This makes it even more difficult for a professional piercer to leave you with a great looking piercing when the area we have to work with is damaged by self inflicted attempts.
ANOTHER ANSWER:Professionally.I had my friend do all my piercings , except my tongue .
What valves carry oxygen rich blood to the heart?
the pulmonary vein brings the oxygenated blood into the heart from the lungs
How blood circulates through the body?
Let's start with deoxygenated blood at the heart. It enters the right atrium of the heart, then passes into the right ventricle. From here, it is pumped to the lungs where gaseous exchange takes place. After this, it returns to heart, the left atrium this time. It passes into the left ventricle and is pumped to all the other organs in the body. The deoxygenated blood returns to the heart to complete the circuit.
How do you differentiate between an artery and vein in the liver?
The hepatic artery in the liver enters from the bottom and is much smaller in diameter than the aorta or the portal vein that it lies above. The hepatic vein exits the liver from the top, carries blood through the top portion of the liver, and is larger in diameter than the hepatic artery.
How do you keep circulatory system healthy?
It is important to keep your circulatory system working at its best. Your heart pumps blood to every part of your body. It travels through thousands of miles of blood vessels! Blood carries oxygen from your lungs. If there is a problem with your blood, your heart, or your blood vessels, your whole body can suffer. If you don't get enough oxygen to your brain, you might not be able to think clearly. If your stomach isn't getting enough oxygen, it might be hard for you to digest your food. If there is a problem with one of your blood vessels, blood could stop flowing to a part of your body. Without it, those cells could die.
2 What can you do to keep your circulatory system healthy? You can make sure that you are getting plenty of exercise. When you exercise, you heart beats faster. This makes your heart stronger. Your heart is a muscle. Just like the muscles in your arms and legs, your heart gets bigger and stronger the more that you use it. Exercise also helps to keep your blood vessels working properly. Go outside and play! Ride your bicycle. Go for a swim. Your body will thank you!
3 Eat healthy foods. They will keep your circulatory system healthy. Iron-rich foods like beans, whole-grain breads and cereals, red meat, and green vegetables are good for your blood. Try to avoid fatty foods, especially fried foods and foods that contain a type of fat called trans fat. Eating too much fat can cause fat
When shooting drugs is it better to shoot in a vein or an artery?
Because veins go directly to the heart whereas the artery's go around the body before going to the heart. When it reaches the heart it is distributed to where it is needed.
Why does you vein shape like a heart?
but mine is very cute also it is green and purple on my left wrist
What is the most important vein in the heart?
THE HEART WORKS AS A WHOLE. One part cannot be more important than another.
What blood type of blood do vein usually carry?
The type of blood that goes though the Veins, Arterys and Capillaries is known as Red Blood Cell, which are also known as Oxygentated Cells.
What is an unique feature of the arteries veins and the capillaries?
Arteries, veins and capillaries are the blood vessels which help in transporting blood from one organ to another organ.
What is the difference between artries veins and capillaries?
Arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart, to the cells that need them.
Veins carry blood containing carbon dioxide back to the heart after the oxygen has been given to the cells.
Capillaries are the thinnest arteries and veins. They are only one cell wide. As the blood cell passes through the very thin capillary, the cells on either side are given oxygen and carbon dioxide is taken from them. Therefore, the capillaries connect the arteries and veins.
Veins are thinner than arteries. Arteries are thicker than capillaries.
My husband had one done today. I am not 100% positive how to explain it, but the way I got it, it was like a sonogram. They use the same ultrasound machine they use when you are pregnant. The only difference is they are checking the blood flow in you legs. For my husband they were checking for a blood clot in his leg and thankfully that was not the cause of his inflamation and pain.
What happens if you cut your jugular vein?
The first thing that will happen is that the vein in question (jugular) would begin to rapidly hemorrhage (bleed) at a rate of 700mL per minute if the victim is lying down, or at a rate of 70mL per minute if the victim's head is at a right angle. The victim will then go unconscious, or if left untreated, will become brain-dead and be declared clinically dead.
I’m afraid that our manners have been assaulted by the "politically correct" movement if a statement is misunderstood as having a connotation that someone feels as inappropriate you could be fined or even arrested. you would have to let the people around you know where your boundrys lie a lady i once knew had an entire bar of rednecks myself included acitng like gentalmen if only while she was there out of respect for her kind nature
Is there a difference in the definitions of tank and vessel from an engineering perspective?
Pressure vessels are constructed to withstand a specific Operating Pressure and have a Maximum Allowable pressure. They may be Horizontal or Vertical Cylindrical, or Spherical, Hemispherical, Small cylinders as for LPG...etc.
They will be fitted with Safety Relief Systems.
Tanks are vessels used at Atmospheric pressure. If pressure is likely to build up in a tank, as when pumping into it, safety relief systems are installed to offset this possibility.
Also, Vacuum breakers are installed for when liquid is being pumped out. A vacuum breaker may incorporate a gas injection (generally an Inert gas like Nitrogen), to maintain a slight positive pressure in the tank depending on the liquid being stored.
Petroleum tankage is very often of the 'Pontoon' or 'Double Deck' type, 'Floating Roof tank' having very little vapour space to minimise vapour loss. The roof 'floats' on the liquid and rises and falls with changes in liquid level.
It also has a special 'Pantograph' seal system against the tank inner wall
