How do you change brake pads on a 1988 Ford Tempo GL?

you unscrew the tire and take it off then there is a center nut unscrew that and the roder sould slide right off I hope that you do not follow those directions. I would hate to see you go thru a red light because of no brakes, and hit someone. A brake job should only be done by someone who knows what they are doing. If you have to ask how to do it, then I do suggest that you have someone else who knows how to do the job, and watch, and learn. Or if not, then a garage, and then watch. You will need certain tools to do this job. You do not unscrew the tire, you take off the lug nuts, and the center nut, does not just unscrew, you need an impact for that, and besides you do not have to touch that nut. The rotor comes off when you remove the tire and the caliper.

Why is heat coming out warm from the driver side vents but cold in the passenger side of 2001 Volvo S60?

I've had this happen last year and took my 2002 Volvo s60 to an a/c shop. The honest mechanic played with the switches while engine was on, turned both knobs to heat and let the hot air blow for a minute...then he switched it over to cool and it went back to being a great a/c. He made a comment that he believed a part in the a/c was stuck and by playing with the controls like he did, put it back. He did add a smidgen of freon but sent me on my way without a bill. So try playing with the knobs first.

Do you have to bleed the brakes when you change the pads on a 2000 Mazda Protege?

no, not everytime or every other time. bleeding the brakes eliminates the air in the brake lines. if your pedal goes to the floor, then its a good idea to bleed. it will always help, but not always necessary. caliper has a bleeding screw on it. to bleed have a friend pump the brakes while the bolt is tight. then have him hold, while hes holding you unscrew the bolt until its a weak stream. then repeat when you tighten the bolt. you want no air in the line, which wil cause excess pressure on the brake pedal.

You should always do that - if not know then next time it makes them work so much better.

When replacing pads bleeding is not needed unless you take a fluid line loose. But brake fluid breaks down with time and HEAT, so it's not a bad idea!

How do you change brake pads on a 2000 Grand Am SE?

Go to the brake cylinder reservoir open the cap, this will release any back pressure in your break line when you compress your piston back in place. after you remove the wheel, three's going to be two bolts on the inside of the brake caliper. if i can remember right they should be half inch bolts...take them out and the caliper assembly should be able to be pulled up and off. slide out the old brake pads, and then use a pipe clamp or some sort of clamp to compress the piston on the caliper. don't go too fast or you'll get brake fluid everywhere just go slow and compress it all the way in. then put on your new pads, slip the assembly back over the rotor, and tighten the bolts back in, but put some locktite thread glue on the bolts, or they might vibrate loose. tighten down the bolts and you're done. hope this helps

Is there a special way to change oil in 04 s60R?

Nothing too special. Drain the oil from the pan first; then remove the oil filter housing...I bought an adjustable filter wrench (looks like a pair of slip joint pliers but long round jaws to wrap around the filter); remove the old filter. There should be a new O-ring gasket with your new filter; take a flat screw driver to the old O-ring on your filter housing (at the bottom of the threads on the outside of the filter housing) and roll the new one on; rub a little oil around the new O-ring for easier installation. Place the new filter in position and reinstall the filter housing. Add you new oil, start the care and check for leaks; turn the car off and check your oil level to make certain you have put in enough...mine takes 6 quarts.

How do you change the spark plugs on a 2004 Volvo S60?

Remove two black plastic covers from the top of the engine. You will need a star bit, size 27 or 30(sorry I can't remember which). The covers extend the width of the engine and you will have to remove the two front mounting screws from the air tube that restricts access to the covers and plugs. I have a turbo model, and this may only be on the turbo version. There are five spark modules directly under the cover you just removed. They each have wires leading to them and are held in place by one 10mm bolt. The spark modules have a long cone on the engine side and the very bottom of the cone plugs into the top of the spark plug. Your will need an extension for your spark plug socket as the plug is a couple of inches below the top of the engine. It's pretty easy and shouldn't take over half an hour if you have all the tools.
