Why do you need to replace ignition coils on Volvo S70?

Ignition coil is what will fire up a spark on the spark plug. Without it or if it malfunctions, that particular cylinder will not fire and you'll get a "miss", loss of power, etc. The 1999 S70 uses a COP or Coil On Plug design. Each spark plug has it's own coil. If one goes bad, the OBDII scanner should pick up a code directing you to the correct cylinder that has the bad coil.

How do you fix the door handle on a 98 Volvo S70 - it opens from inside but not from the outside?

Remove inner door panel for access and observation

There is a small plastic (nylon?) part in the latch mechanism that breaks. It is meant to deactivate the door lock. When broken, the door remains locked, which is why you can open it with the inner door handle but not the outer one. The latch mechanism is not designed to be serviced, but with some ingenuity it can be disassembled and put back together. I found the pieces of the part in question (sometimes called the "Red Devil" because this part was occasionally made of red plastic. Mine was white like all the other plastic components) lying in the bottom of the door and put it back together with Crazy Glue and drilled holes into which I put steel wire and more Crazy Glue. It's held up for the past 7 months. An excellent link for this process: http://volvospeed.com/Repair/v70latch2.php . From what I've found out, a new latch assembly costs about $135.00. In early 2009 Erie Vovo (that's not a typo) quoted me $75 for a used one with a lifetime warranty.

What do the timing marks look like on 1999 S70 Volvo I can't see them on crank shaft or intake and exhaust gears or the arrow mark to match crank gear to.?

the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley are small about 1/4inch little "bumps" one is on the block and the other on the pulley right behind harmonic balancer pulley. there are two small "teeth" in two gear teeth, if you find those the second mark (mentioned above) is between them. As for the cam gears you have to have the back timing cover on its the small one and you can place it without bolting up. there are two slight 90 degree angles cut out of the round part of the this housing. on the left gear its at about 2:00 on the right about 10:00. and the marks on the pulley are slight indentions, like small lines. line these up and you should be good to go.

How can you change Volvo s70 o2 sensor?

All this work is done from under the car. There are two sensors on the S70. One is called the upstream( located higher up on the exhaust manifold) and the other would be the downstream. They are located on the exhaust pipe prior to the cat. converter. Unscrew the sensor (need to borrow a special tool) and follow the wire up around the engine to a small connector. Be sure to use anti-seize grease around the threads of the new O2 sensor(s). rcal13a@yahoo.com

Where is the fuse block for the blower motor in a 1998 Volvo S70GLT?

When you open the hood, look in the upper right section of the engine compartment and you will see the "Main fuse box". When you locate that look about 5 inches directly above that, basically on top of the right side of the firewall near where the strut tower gets bolted too and you'll find it. I believe it's fuse 32, but not sure. They put it in with a random assortment of things, hope that helped!
