i recommend if you repl.the timing belt to repl. the idler & tension pully including the thermostat housing & bleeder hose, plus the front & rear cam seals.
in case of the thermostat housing, if there is a bleeder hose coming from the Thermostat housing to the expansion tank by removing this hose the plastic nipple
on the housing will brake & the housing need replaced.
to the question of special tools the answer is yes.
you need camshaft locking tools to hold the camshafts in place to remove the sprocket
& cvvt unit.
don't try it whit out this tools.
